  1. Thanks for the great cruise today, everyone. It was great to meet you all and hopefully I'll see you out on the road! I put a couple of pics up on Instagram: user: mjcroucher
  2. Thanks Cadmoon, I'll see you all there in the morning! Cheers, Matt
  3. Hey, I just saw this. Is this a members only event? I just drove my Skyline up to QLD recently.
  4. They apparently 'detailed' my car when it was repaired after being stolen, and I could still see marks from all the fingerprint dust and other misc scratches from the theft/time in the impound yard/being carted around on the tow truck. It' s really depressing when you give it a wash when you get it back and notice all these new scratches and chips on the bodywork, especially when you've spent so much time maintaining the car... I feel for you mate, but give it a good clay bar and polish and touch up any of the more obvious chips/scratches and hopefully it'll be as good as new.
  5. The point to point speed cameras they were talking about earlier in the year were going to be on the main highways in/out of the state, so areas where you have nice long unbroken sections of road. Dukes Highway, Barrier Highway, etc. Not on North Terrace. They do already use them in VIC and I think NSW? Just be thankful that SA hasn't implemented the red light/speed cameras with the same gusto that NSW took it up with in the last two years. I went back recently and damn, in some parts, people were driving like South Australians... But there are point to point cameras on the highways in to Melbourne. The tram extension is awesome. 10 mins walk and then I have a free trip into town. No hassles with trying to find parking or having to deal with the traffic. Also, they did spend the money on the roads as well, remember what Port Road/North Terrance and those intersections used to be like before they fixed them up? It's now probably the smoothest section of road in the state. :S The tram extension - extension plans however... exercise in stupidity. They want to link it from the entertainment centre cross Port Road and then run them on the train tracks out to Port Adelaide/Westlakes... now that's exactly duplicating a service, whilst putting another crossing on Port Road, *and* not taking advantage of the best thing about light rail, in that you can run it where people want to go. It should go down Port Road or Grange Road, do something for those suburbs & shopping centres with no rail transportation. Or head out to the beach along Grange, then down to Glenelg and you'd have a nice tram loop. /train rant...
  6. That's about what I get in my dead stock R33 GTS-T. In regular commuting traffic my fuel economy hovers around 10.5 to 11 ltr/100km, on whatever the pump 98 RON is I get. And that's with a mighty 128rwkW ;D
  7. Spotted this morning, a grey Series 1 R33 coupe sitting off the road, on the grass behind a tree about half way up Montague Road.... dumped? Defected? Ran out of gas?
  8. Ah damn. It'll still be worth it now doubt. Just watching all the Isle of Mann TT vids on youtube is crazy enough. From the crashes to the shots where the helicopter just can't keep up once the guys get out of the village and into the countryside..
  9. Hey, where'd you see TT3D: Closer to the Edge? Is anywhere still screening it? I forgot it was on and seem to have missed catching it at the cinemas I don't think it'd be the same on a small screen.
  10. Quick post on a problem I had this morning. I noticed my (factory) boost gauge was sitting on just under 0 vacuum, and only moved up a tiny bit above when on full throttle. After spending the rest of the trip to work swearing at it, and wondering if this had anything to do with the almost complete rewiring that it just had (long story..) I popped the bonnet when I got to work to hear a loud sucking sound. The end of the pressure gauge transducer hose from the rear of the intake manifold had split. It was still in place, but cracked enough that it was sucking air. It looks like it was just a press on fit, so a few seconds with the side cutters, and a cable tie to keep things in place and it works again. Hooray... sometimes it can be simple things that go wrong with these cars!
  11. Spotted some Skylines out the front of the North Adelaide bakery last night, red R34 and a White (? memory a bit fussy, we'd just come from the pub) R32 with lots of stickers. I love that place
  12. I had some suspension repairs and alignment done at Light Wheel Alignment and afterwards it drove like a drunken pig. I took it down to Boostworx and got them to check it over and Shaun got the alignment checked and each wheel was significantly out from where they should be. (The sheet's at home, but they were basically pointing all over the place..). So I'd be hesitant to use them again. I've since used Greg's Alignment Solutions at Regency Park. I was very happy with his work and he's very knowledgeable, but I got the impression he wasn't a fan of crazily modified suspension. Fortunately mine's stock height...
  13. oh man, not another one, and they're getting closer to my area too I hope you get it back in good condition Ben, hopefully the rather unique colour will help. I hate parking mine out in the driveway overnight, but sometimes there's just too many bike parts covering the garage floor to get it back in...
  14. Another +1 for Boostworx. I've had the 100k service and a 10k service done there now, and the only complaint I had was that when they've refilled the radiator, they didn't fill it up properly with Distilled Water after putting the coolant concentrate in. So when I got home and had a look, my overflow bottle was empty and I couldn't see any coolant in the radiator... having just driven 45mins in peak hour traffic, I was a bit freaked out... esp as they'd have done the dyno run like that. But it only took another litre of demin water to top it up, and it's been going fine ever since. But they're great guys to deal with and I'm quite happy with their services.
  15. ahh...here we go, thankyou Google for bringing me around in a circle. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Co...lb-t172056.html FYI, this is what the globe looks like..
  16. T-10 globes are too big, I've got a set of them here that I used in my old car. My trusty digital verniers have just informed me that the actual globe size is the T-5 size, however it's not the regular T-5 wedge or blade shape that you get at Supercheap, these globes live in a little plastic insert (and no, it's not just a wedge/blade globe stuck in there) which looks to me like the one unit (until you break the wires and pull the globe out like I did >_>) So they're a T-5 size, just not the standard connector. I'll check out that eBay store. Any ideas about the towbar anyone?
  17. Hey guys, Does anyone know where can I buy a replacement globe for the light in the climate control panel for my R33? It's the tiny little globe with a flat backed plastic retainer that you turn out with a screwdriver, it has the globes legs wrapped around it. As it's not a commodore or falcon part, Supercheap don't stock them, so does anyone know if a Nissan dealer would carry them or whether anywhere else sells them? I could always try converting the little plastic container to hold an LED but wouldn't mind just getting a replacement straight away. Also, I'm going to need a towbar soon for towing a bike trailer, so what have you guys with R33 Coupe's done about towbars? I've read some of the technical forums, but I'm not sure if the 180/200sx ones will fit, or whether I should just get a custom one made up. Any help or hints there would be appreciated! Cheers!
  18. Nice car man, looks nice and clean
  19. Thanks for the replies guys, I'm just concerned that the oil that I've got in there is too thin. But the engine seems to be loving it as it revs so much easier and is much more responsive. The ticking noise seems to be coming from the underneath the valve cover which is why I was thinking it was from the valve train. I didn't notice it before which is why I was thinking it was the oil. What're the standard oil pressures that the car should be operating at? My seems to sit on over 2kg/cm^2 at Idle and up around 4 when driving, (however yesterday afternoon it was idleing below two, and only just over when driving, which had me very worried, however it's still full of oil and hasn't done that since.. so I've got no idea what it was doing then...)
  20. Hey guys, Well, it's 5,000 after my I bought my Skyline so time to change the oil. (and yes, I should have done it as soon as I bought it, I know...) I haven't had a Skyline before, and my previous two cars have been a magna and a HQ, so I'm used to something that I can just do whatever to and it'll be fine. So if you can bear with me and offer any helpful comments that'd be great! So Saturday morning was spent reading through the 42 pages of the 'good oil' DIY thread, and the oil change tutorial and whilst I then had a good idea as to how to do it and how much things cost, not so much on what oil was a definite answer to run with. I've got a stock R33 Series 2 GTS-T, with 93,000 on the clock, so I decided against any 0w oil, and bought 5ltr of Motul 8100 5w40. The general consenus on the oil thread seemed to be running at either a 0w or a 5w oil, but 0w sounded a little too thin. The autobahn assistant recommended a 10w for it, but I thought that may be a little too heavy, so went with the 5w. So, question to you guys is, what do you run in yours? The oil that was in it from the shop was a lot thicker than the oil that I put in. I've always had the feeling that the motor wasn't as responsive as it should be and that it was being restrained under acceleration, where as after I put the 5w oil in, the difference is amazing. The engine feels so much smoother and more responsive than it did before, a blip of the throttle results with an instant rev, as opposed to a slightly delayed and sluggish rev. So it feels like it was a good choice. However now I can hear some noise from the tappets that I didn't notice before, it's only when you've got your head in the engine bay can you hear it, it's not so loud that you hear it with the bonnet down, but is this normal for an engine of this age? Currently oil pressure at idle is a bit over the 2kg/mm^2 mark, and sits at dead horizontal at about 70/80kmh so at about 4kg/mm^2, are these normal values? Thanks in advance for any help guys, oh, and also, does anyone know any places to recommend/avoid for my 100,000 service? And a idea of the cost? Cheers,
  21. Good to see there's someone else out there with exactly the same colour and rims as mine. I actually thought that was a pic of me that you'd changed the plates on, until I realised I was still at work at 6:30 last night, and I would have had a passenger.
  22. Will do. I'm a bit worried about it, as I've seen the results of two front end repairs on my parents cars, and the finish on both were of a very poor quality. One was on a VB commodore, and the new bumper bar they installed started rusting through the chrome in under a year "oh, they were all like that mate..." "BS, look at the old one, that's over 20 years old and the only thing wrong with it is that it had an encounter with a towbar" and on the Cressida the new paint started flaking off within a year or two. And as they're repairing my bumper (it did its job well and sprung back into place) and respraying it, I'm a bit concerned, so hopefully they're as good as everyone here says! I just found out that tonight I'm at dinner at 9! Right when the LAN starts. Next time Gadget!
  23. hehe, no. I haven't had the time to play properly for about a year, so I'm a couple of versions behind, but I've got a new housemate moving in and he seems keen to get addicted to it, so I'm going to be playing some more soon I thought BA was shut down and everyone moved off to somewhere else? Skyline related comment: You guys better be right in that All-Type do a good job, I'm taking my car there next month based on your comments!!
  24. Awesome, I hope this becomes regular thing, I've been missing some LAN action down here in SA! Not that I've met any of you guys before tho I'm busy tomorrow night with dinner with my gf and her parents, which will run late, but if you guys are going to be holding this regularly then I'll definitely be up for the next one, note to self, must check these forums more... btw: CoD2 and DotA FTW! You can play CoD4 all you want, but I'm not a happy man unless I'm running around Tanzania in tan shorts and a Pith helmet, pistol whipping noobs with my Webley
  25. Saw a dark blue R32 with nice rims this morning on Nelson Road at about 8 getting some Police attention. The driver didn't look too impressed... either the Police were having a bad morning or someone was being a little too enthusiastic on those hills there
