  1. That's the only way to back up to another medium. A way to use the network is if you have two ps3's and transfer the data from one to the other. This then deletes everything off the original ps3. And it's also the only method where EVERYTHING copies over. I installed everything into my new ps3 from the back up and all of my demos and games stored on it are no longer there. Videos n music remains though.
  2. Yeah I agree. The backup process in the ps3 is of the ghey. If anything, allow it to be swapped into another ps3 and just have some sort of password security rather than being forced to back up into portable storage and having to format the hdd...
  3. I remember the ol' nes vs sega days... Good times.
  4. Have you forgotten about the expansion "pak" on the N64?
  5. Hmmm... You make a fair argument good sir. I especially like the last one.
  6. Then ytf do the games perform much better now than when the consoles were launched, despite the hardware remaining the same? PS2 games at the end of the console's life played and looked very similar to PS3 games at launch. God of War 2 is a prime example. Many people at E3, including programmers and game journo's, thought it was a PS3 game. I agree with your "ignorance is bliss" statement; since we're ALL following it, one way or another... I'll also add another one - "Stubborn as a mule" You seem to just disagree with all the FOR arguments to do with console and just have this idea that PC is the one and only way to go. Like I said, each have their pro's and con's...
  7. Although PC has the best version, I still prefer the console. I concur on the ease of buying a game, inserting into the disc drive and playing straight away without the hassle of upgrading drivers and adjusting settings to get maximum playability. Someone mentioned earlier that consoles have prevented the evolution of gaming or something along those lines. I disagree. I think it's the consoles that force developers to become more efficient in writing code for the software result in better games. I mean, look at the first party games. They look great and play fkg awesome; without the need of the latest hardware. Also keep in mind that consoles don't require as much hardware power as PC because they don't have a whole bunch of drivers and background programs running with the game. I guess though, each has it's pros and cons.
  8. You could be right. It's a Samsung and it likes to launch Kies every time I hook it in. I don't allow it to but yeah. So by using a USB 2.0 cable, I'm guessing it bypasses the USB 3.0 functionality... Seeing as the 2.0 cable doesn't plug into the extended section of the port.
  9. So got a refurbished ps3 slim from Sony today. Went to install by backed up data but after a couple of minutes, it would say that my data was corrupt. Tried this a few times and every result, "corrupt". Turns out, ps3 doesnt like USB 3.0. So how did I fix it?? I simply used a USB 2.0 cable and all worked fine. Does anyone know why this is? I mean, it's the same hard drive, how does a different cable have this issue? Would it be too much data going through? High voltage demand?
  10. Probably. Hackers are only good when they do cool things, like hack into Scarlett's phone.
  11. The f**kers are at it again... Sony locks down PSN, SOE accounts after security compromised In a statement to media today, and as reported byCNET, Sony revealed that it has locked down 93,000 user accounts on its PlayStation Network, Sony Entertainment Network, and Sony Online Entertainment network after detecting a large number of unauthorized attempts to gain access to the accounts. "As a preventative measure, we are requiring secure password resets for those PSN/SEN accounts that had both a sign-in ID and password match through this attempt," Reitinger said in the post. "If you are in the small group of PSN/SEN users who may have been affected, you will receive an email from us at the address associated with your account that will prompt you to reset your password." According to Reitinger, hackers succeeded in verifying sign-in IDs and passwords, but credit card information was not breached. Sony locked the accounts after confirming that the attempts were unauthorized and is sending emails to affected consumers who have locked accounts.
  12. +1 for new modem. Spend the few extra $$$ for one. You'll be glad you did. I had low end linksys which would give me grief all the time. Would never hook me into a cod match. Changed it over to a high end d-link and haven't looked back since. Over the three years I've had it, not ONCE has it dropped the connection.
  13. I'm all for coop. Not enough of them I say.
  14. I totally agree with what you said except for "BF is for strategists, in COD we refer to them as campers." I was all for MW3 (even refer to my previous posts) because I loved the arcade style gameplay but after playing the BF3 beta, I've now converted and have even pre-ordered a copy. Camping is BORING. There's no enjoyment in it. Perking up on Lightweight, Marathon and Sleight of Hand and running around was my COD style; which seems to work quite well in BF3 too. Plus, BF3 relies heavily on teamwork to properly progress and is much less reliant on K/D ratios... in which camping is a crappy strategy.
  15. LMAO. We should team up and just sabotage the matches.
  16. Lol obviously div. PC version is unbeatable. But it has proven to have higher textures and less jaggies when compared with the xbox version (xbox on top) Link to article
  17. For the technophiles and PS3 fanbois It's DICE's presentation on how they've maximised the ps3 tech i.e. RSX + utilisation of the multiple SPU chips, to perform parallel processing as opposed to serial. This is basically how the first-party games are made eg. God of War 3 and Uncharted 2+3. Actually, I remember I had also included a similar presentation from SCE Santa Monica on the GoW3 thread. Without getting into the politics, it's good to see that not all companies laze about on the console and actually put a bit of effort into it... unlike what many PC geeks tend to advise
  18. Since most here are PC junkies, is there anyone getting BF3 for console?? PS3 - to be more exact?

  20. Game looks pretty good. The customization seems cool too... If only I had a 360.
  21. No one in Australia knows the road rules. Or, if they do, they choose not to follow them. Worst are the fkrs that like to stick in the right lane and drive 20kph under the limit. Mum's partner's car was written off because a bus cut him off at a round about. Thing is, the bus driver just kept on driving... Must happen often because the public transport department didn't hesitate to compensate for the damages.
  22. The road works signs seem to never be removed at end of shift. So, after hours, according to the speed signs, I'm having to do 40 in a 70 zone... Coming from the airport, just after the burnley tunnel, the variable speed limit is always 80, despite being a freeway and lacking any vehicles besides my own. Do they even monitor these roads? Or is it just timed?
  23. Probably a bit late now but generally it's better to use a newer pickup, even if it is a bit shorter. The older ones can be full of crap from dirty fuel over the years. I had also used the original Nissan pickup and after switching it to the newer one that came with my pump, the priming noise at startup sounded a lot healthier. Good to see the car is coming along nicely. Best to start a new thread though; in the correct location this time...
  24. Version 2.0 update? What's changed? Have all known bugs been removed?
  25. Was at broady station one morning to go to uni. There was a VH parked in the bay closest to the station entrance. The keys were sitting neatly on the dash with the windows wound down. 11 hours later, I get back from Uni and the car is still there... So the R31 trick may just work.
