  1. The horn bracket in which the top bit of the cooler bolts to isn't directly in the centre of the car but slightly more to the driver's side and because of this, I actually bolted the bottom two brackets first. One lines up with the bottom AC Fan bracket, and the other lines up with a spare hole (if I remember correctly). This way, the cooler will sit in the centre. To then support the top bracket of the cooler, I cable-tied it to the hole in which I was going to bolt it to with the use of 5-7 cable-ties. Dodgy.... BUT effective This, believe it or not, holds the cooler very steady for the time being until I get a new bracket to support.
  2. JustJap - comes as a complete kit, clamps, brackets, cable ties; everything you need to basically take your SMIC off and install.
  3. You can still hear suction and flutter through a high flow panel filter. The intercooler does amplify these sounds. Sure, these won't be as loud as they would be with a pod but they do get noticeably louder after you install that cooler...
  4. You'll only notice a slight bit of lag compared to your SMIC, since its piping is minimal. There's no difference in lag between a stealth FMIC and a GT spec FMIC. Some say one set-up may have the slightest improvement over the other but then again, that's debatable. The main reason you'd buy the stealth set-up is so you don't have to cut any holes into your baby...
  5. I have noticed only the smallest amount of lag. Then again, I'm still running stock boost so the lag effects will be minimal anyway. One thing you will definately notice is the change in temperature between the supply and return pipes of the intercooler. After a decent drive, you'll notice the pipe coming from the turbo is f**king hot to touch where as the other pipe is significantly cooler. Just make sure you test drive the car before putting the bumper back on... last thing you want is to put everything back together and then have a clamp come loose.
  6. I've just installed my one on Saturday with no problem, and with the assistance of stokesy and a couple of other mates. I can't say much about the GTR bumper since I've kept my stock one. The brackets that come with the kit, help a lot. You will have to move the horns and trim a slight bit off the reo bar. One problem I did experience though, was the centre top attachment on the cooler didn't line up with the horn bracket as the horn bracket isn't located directly in the centre. This meant I had to cable-tie it with 5-6 cable ties (that also come with the kit). Now it sits there nice and steady. Have a look at the pics I've attached, they're not "turtorial" style pics, but hopefully can still give you an idea. Plus, if you need a tutorial, try this one by Black Warrior; http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/R3...rcooler+install Cheers.
  7. That's your root cause of the blown fuse. I too had blown the fuse when playing around with the high boost trick and experienced the same problems you had. Printing out the translated Fuse box diagram and keeping it in your car is a top notch idea.
  8. I bought the same cooler last week and will be installing it tomorrow, with the addition of beers and the warm weather. I'll use your pics as a guide so if it doesn't look anything like these, then I know I've taken a wrong turn somewhere along the way. Actually, to be safe, maybe the beer consumption should begin after the installation is complete.
  9. Hi Mate, The cross over pipe and bov are the same for both the S1 and S2 Skylines.
  10. First thing you should do before looking into elctrics is check the piping and connections for any leakage. I had picked up my car from the chop shop (different story for another day) and on the way home the car was doing the same thing as yours i.e. losing boost ~4500rpm+. I got home and checked the piping to find one of the connections under the airbox wasn't tightened properly. I adjusted it and fixed the problem. So that's what I think your problem is. A fix that costs nothing except for a bit of time and effort.
  11. I couldn't agree more FATAZZ!!!
  12. It's a good conversation starter when you're at the lights, but whilst cruising, I've noticed most of the looks and greazies come from the blokes... DAMN IT!!! Despite this though, when I'm out and about, mentioning to the ladies that I drive a skyline has worked like a charm Wo0p Wo0p!!!
  13. Needs to be lowered... but it'll do for the time being.
  14. I bought my 33 sii some 7 weeks ago and have not regretted it since. Everyone who's jumped in it has complimented the car... even the guys who drive v8 commo's. No one agreed with me when I had decided I was going to buy a 33 skyline because "everyone has them" and "they're too heavy" but I didn't care what they thought and ended up buying it anyway. At the end of the day, it's your money, you do what you want with it. If you like the 33 skyline, then buy yourself the 33 skyline. I don't think you'll find anyone who has greatly regretted buying a 33 even after they have spent all their earnings modding the thing. As Matty said, "If you enjoy your wheels as you surely do, and you're willing to look outside the square, you watch! Others will follow you!" - It's true!! Others WILL follow. Since I bought my car, 3 of my mates who jumped in it, that's right, THREE, have now decided to sell their car and buy a Jap performance; one of them just picked up a WRX (fine, it's not a skyline, but it's still an initiative that occured due to my purchasing of the 33 as was said by my mate himself) and the other two are looking at S14 sii and R33 sii. Enough blabbing from me. Enjoy your skyline mate!!! Cheers, Elias
  15. Hey guys, As the title suggests, I need a front reo bar for an R33 SII ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Cheers, Elias
  16. Quick question, Does an R34 GTT front reo bar fit to an R33 SII bumper?? What modification to the bar will I need to do in order to make it fit to a 33?? Reason for asking is that I need a reo bar for my 33 and all I have been able to find over the passed couple of weeks is a front reo bar for an R34. Cheers, Elias
  17. I read the first few pages of this thread and then jumped straight to the last one so if this has been mentioned earlier, then I don't care... Regarding the ABS being standard or not on the R33 Series II Turbo; If it's a '96 SII, then ABS was an option whereas it cam standard '97 onwards. And just another quick fact, the '96 came standard with a rear window wiper whereas the '97 did not.......
  18. Hey Guys, I had a small mishap with my R33 S2 involving the left side and so require the following parts (preferably in Silver). - LHS Headlight - Re-inforcement bar - Front Bumper - AC fan - LH Quarter Panel - Bonnet The bonnet and quarter panel only have the slightest dent, so they're not too urgent. Cheers, EeLeYe
  19. Cheers mate!! There's a meet on the 19th so hopefully I can make it and meet some of the other SAU members.
  20. This will be my first SAU gathering. Hopefully I can make it.
  21. Hi All, I've been a member of SAU for a while now but have just recently bought myself an R33 SII. (Thanks to Dave and John at CARizma!!!) I bought it completely standard as a fresh import... actually all it's had installed is a boost guage and turbo timer; everything else standard. I've chucked on a set of 17" Volk Racing CE28Ns and of course thrown in an aftermarket head unit (since the stock radio in it wouldn't go above 90MHz). The alarm has been an a*se to deal with... For insurance purposes (and for those who didn't know), the vehicle is required to have an Australian standard immobiliser to be covered in the case of theft. I was low on funds and preffered an alarm rather than just an immobiliser, so instead of listening to everyone else and going to a specialist, I decided to get one installed at autobarn........ big mistake that was. Anyway, I'm looking forward to learning more about skylines and also looking forward to meeting fellow SAU members. I'm not at home at the moment and the only pic I've got of it on my work computer is this one. I'll post some more (better resolution) pics later tonight. Cheers people, EeLeYe
