Mate, I don't know who you are but you have been signed up to SAU for less than 2 months and you already have over 1000 posts. Thats an effort that needs to be recognised and rewarded (so here's a fruit bowl) Even our old friend Rob would be impressed with this effort. At this rate you might even catch Ni by the end of the year! I personally can't wait to see what happens to your post count when you actually own a skyline! God help the SAU bandwidth!! Anyways..... keep up the good work! B)

Well I'm not even sure Chris is going to make it now (he had car problems yesterday at Phillip Island) so it looks like I'm screwed anyways. You just have to get enough compeition yourself now because Pete has blown a turbo so he's gone from Calder too.

Ok - went to the best full time circuit in Oz on Sunday - Phillip Island. Managed a new pb of 1.48.02. Scared the absolute crap outta myself doing it. But loved it anyways.

I was behind this car through turn 1 and around Southern Loop. Around Southern Loop this thing was actually quicker than me but I was as close to his ass as I could be in order to get past him before Honda. Anyways as we were punching out of the exit of Southen Loop - which for me is around 6,000rpm in 4th - so around 200km/hr - this things back stepped out and he over corrected and flew off the track towards the ocean in a farken hurry. I went and had a chat to the guy when the session finished - the poor car had lost half the paint down the left side from stones in the gravel trap - but he was packing up all his stuff and he was heading home and he was selling the car as he'd seen his life flash before his eyes and wasn't ever going to do it again. Otherwise it was an awesome day. All of me, Scotsman and Frank set PB's fo the track and after spending so much time recently at places like Winton and doing things like Motokhana's / Dutton it was great to remember just how fast and how scary that place is. A stock R34 GTR is actually a really nice car to drive. Still sounds good but not crazy loud. Stock suspension is nice on the street and the brakes are good. For whatever reason I rarely ever seem to get people wanting to run me in mine either - but then maybe its because Im never looking for it. Turbo's come on strong when you put your foot down and pull all the way through to 8,000rpm. But for example a stock R34 is speed and rev limitted and the stock ECU runs a little rich. And this is where the GTR gets tough - its easy to modify. We put a stock R34 GTR on a dyno and it made 178rwkw's. Simple exhaust, cam gears, and ecu mods and it was upto 255rwkw's. Then bugger it - we'll add some bigger trubo's, injectors and afm's and wow - 325rwkw's. Now we are saving for a bottom end upgrade......... They are a great stock car - but difficult to keep that way.

West from these forums recently re-co'd his Teins and decided afterwards it wasn't worth the effort and should have just purchased new ones. He is in Melb - maybe send him a PM with some Q's. -
Clockwise for harder - anticlockwise for softer. It should click. From memory there are about 16 clicks all up from one extreme to the other. Cheers.

SBS = sump baffle syndrome. Funny thing is I think there have even been a few engine let go up there that have had sump baffles fitted. Dunno - SK has some interesting thoughts on SBS but I can't comment as its not something we really see down here at all. As for the Island - well its a fun track to get your head around due to the speeds. Given there are 3 corners taken at over 200km/hr it takes a little while to have the confidence in your car and yourself to go flat out. Anyways - when I went I was told initially the aim was to break 2:00mins which in a GTR with semi's is pretty easy. Then go from there. I've managed a best so far there of 1.49.3 which was with the stock turb's and Tein HA suspension. Hoping to lower that this weekend but not sure if the weather is going to play nice or not. Given its all big sweepers just about the track grip levels will play as much a part on me lowering that time as anything else. But from all my times to the Island there only ever been 1 other car (GTR) on street tyres crack a sub 1.50 so thats a reasonable bench mark to aim for. -

Ben, Great to see its come along so nicely. It's been a fair while in coming but it looks like you've made all the right decisions. Now you just have to hope the NSW cursed SBS doesn't hit you! But it would be great to see you down in Vic sometime - have you come down and play where the real track GTR's hang out! -

Ben, I can't remember exactly but I think for the AP's the Ferrodo's were around $500 for the front set (I use Galfer pads on the rears). And yes they are a high friction pad. And they are a bugger to bed in propperly! LOL But once bedded in they are fantastic - very good initial bite and a very consistant pedal feel. However - extended street use leads to them becoming DAMN noisy. They need to be worked hard reguarly. -
How can they both be driving when its one car? Or is one driver doing one race and another driver the 2nd one?? Christain Jones seems like a git. His testing times were crap.

Does anyone know if this weekends Brands Hatch Round is being covered at all by TV?? I love the set-up for the A1. For those that don't know - its 25 countries competiting (Including Australia). Qualifying is done in four 15min sessions where every car has to perform 1 flying lap (and 1 only) in each of the 15 min sessions and final qualifying is determined by the agregate of the best 2 lap times of the 4 posted for each driver. The race is split up into 2 races. Firstly a standing start race with the order based upon qualifying. Then a second race which has a rolling start with the starting order determined by finishing order from race 1. Both races score points and its on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 scale. Given all 25 entrants are in identical cars, and given the format I can't see how it won't be sucessfull. Still no idea who is racing for Oz in Round 1 but I hope it's one of the Wil's. And as I said - hope its on TV!

I find with the R34 rims the RE55's 265's are probably slightly too big. 255's would be perfect but they don't exisit. Still the 265's are better than the 245's. But as mentioned the 265's fit perfect on my 18x9.5 LMGT4's. Andrew - not sure what you are doing for braided lines but the club get a discount through Maltech and several of us use them and they are great. http://www.maltech.com.au/ultimatebrakehoses.html -
If I do a 55s lap I deserve to win everything cause it means I've just done a lap 4s faster than Benno's best. But - championship points are based upon your results compared to others in your class. But its a complex web. If I beat everyone on the day in my class I get 10 points and if Ant beats everyone in his class he gets 10 points. If thats the case - then we will have dual club champions in 2005. If I win and poiter beats Ant then I will be club champion - unless we only get 2 entrants in my class in which case I can only get a max of 6 points (as per Winton) So in this situation we'd have dual club champios again. However - if we both win but there is only 2 entrants in class A (and 3 or more in class D) then Ant will be club champion. So - what it all boils down to is WE NEED ANOTHER CLASS A CAR to come to this event!! LOL Jack? Archie? Robin? Drew? Marcus? Emre? Anyone? I can lend some semi's!!

Andrew, Just for you this morning I went and tried to fit my R34 rims onto my car and it turns out that they DONT fit over my AP's with 375mm rotors - just (by about 2mm! Doh!) But Id be confident they would fit over the "usual" 365mm rotors that Howard does down at Racebrakes. -
It will (should) be crn Alexander Prde and Williams Rd in South Yarra. Just tying up the lose ends with the public liability insurance for the event before we can 100% confirm it but that should all be cleared up in the next day or so. Cheers
