  1. Forget just GT-R's here - I wonder how man other cars in general have run a 10 with 22's and street rubber? lol
  2. Remember my philosophy - the sooner you fix your car the sooner you'll break it again.
  3. Picked this up yesterday on the PS3. Seems to be a tops game (and great on the PS3 so far too). I've only just sratched the surface of the game and already I'm thinking about how I'd do things differently a second time around which to me speaks volumes for the games durability. But initial impressions are great so I hope it stays that way.
  4. Yeah belongs to Jeff (targa) on here. There is some pics / threads on it if you have a look around.
  5. I dunno. I think we need to state that ON A SKIDPAN the old EVO's are better than a new one - rather than as a complete package. Because if the skidpan was the be all and end all I think we'll all be saying that the old GTR's are better than the R35 too (I'm not expecting much from the new GTR on the skidpan thats for sure). PS - burnt arms
  6. Usually channels 14 or 15
  7. I asked the same thing but they said it included Targa - hence why I am asking! The currently posted regs only say "highly recommended"
  8. Hey a quick one especially for Stu I guess - I just heard on he grape vine that in 2009 all Tarmac Road Rally competitors will have to wear some form of head and neck device. Any truth to that one?
  9. I know Richard. The funny thing I think about is that my R34 GTR has had of the standard Nissan parts 2 busted gearboxes, 2 busted engines, a blown front diff and a blown rear diff, and that just my car alone. I know of PLENTY of other GTR owners that have blown everything up on their cars. And we all know it happens because we beat the crap out of our cars and we know its part and parcel with what we do (unfortunately). But the R35 GTR has come along and for some reason people think you should now be able to do the same thing to these cars but not have any issues anymore. But I know when my R35 comes if I treat it the same way as my R34 things are going to break eventually. But my WRX which is stock and I have fun with but don't punish is still perfect to this day (although I did kill a set of wheel bearings). Again I expect the R35 will be the same.
  10. As reported on gtrblog.com - Japan is set to get a revision in 2009. The next model year of the Nissan GT-R is around the corner and with it several interesting updates are being made. First in Japan but surely they will filter out to the regional GT-Rs as soon as current stock is depleted. What were calling the Series II Nissan GT-R R35 will have the following changes in it’s debut MY09: Engine output up 5ps to 485ps White body colour changed from paint code QX1 to QAB (Storm White) Brembo brake calipers rebadged to Nissan Front License plate base removed (JDM falls into line with the USDM here) Gas tank size expanded, 71 litres - 73.8 litres Slightly tweaked fuel economy 8.2 km/L to 8.5 km/L I also read there is revisions to the gearbox - not sure if thats in software or hardware however. (Mind you that was "internet talk" so who knows) But an intersting side point is that my white R35 GTR which is on order was already listed as being paint code QAB which makes me wonder if we will get this upgrade straight up. Europe is getting it and their deliveries start around the same time as ours so everything points to this being the case. Really it's nothing massive on paper - but I'm hoping some of the "bugs" are gone that they obviously don't want to publically list.
  11. No I don't have a hollinger. My car is stock(ish). Its all factory parts anyways.
  12. Get involved in motorsports and then you'll get the opposite. "shit mate that car is fast - how much power are you making?" "it's pretty stock actually. I dunno 200kw's or something" "but doesn't it have a HKS 2.8L with twin 2860-5's" "ah yep. But its pretty standard otherwise" "other than the hollinger, dry sump, RS shocks, cf panels, bigger brakes etc" "yep other than them pretty standard as I said"
  13. I agree completely about probably being too low for Targa - but 19's might be a great comprimise. 3s is HUGE as you know mate. (He officially went from a 1.42.8 to a 1.39.7). But since you have some TE37's anyways I'd suggest you give them a shot at QR and see how you go.
  14. Apparently the fronts were 18x9.5's (+22) with 265/35/18 and the rears were 18x10.5's (+15) with 295/30/18
  15. I'd heard that Nissan engineers have said the R35 GTR would be faster on 18's than they are on the stock 20's but for "symetry" reasons they had to go with the bigger wheels. So some guy in the US has done a track day recently with the standard wheels and then back to back on some 18" TE37's (one of the few 18s that will fit over those brakes) which were fitted with Michelin Sport Cups (so probably better than the standard tyres but still IMO aren't a brilliant R comp tyre). Anyways the results were 2 fold. One the car looks stupid so I can understand why they said they wanted the bigger wheels. But secondly the car took 3s off of its lap time on the smaller wheels on a track with around a 1.30 lap time. That's a huge jump so I might have to keep my second set of R34 GTR track wheels handy incase I ever decide to take the R35 on the track!
  16. Well on the positive side IF someone should now run into transmission issues Nissan can't turn around and say "well you used LC so now you're stuffed buddy". And given everyone that I know that has one of these cars here and is using them in motorsports aren't using the LC anyways so except for hero's I don't see it as a huge issue anyways.
  17. Nice shot mate. We could turn this into a "show us your GTR flamage shots" thread. I have plenty. Although for hugeness the one I took of Leewahs car at MAS still wins.
  18. LOL - do a google search for "Pink R35" and I'm sure you'll find plenty! But top work Kel. And I'm sure we are going to see a bunch of these cars appearing for rallies in 09. Will be great to see how they fair with the new rubber coming out.
  19. I've been demoted!
  20. The funny thing is though for Lake Mountain in the little street tyred 1.8T Audi A3 we got into 3rd gear after the second corner and stayed in it for pretty much the entire run up the hill! lol I can actually see quite a lot of single gear stuff being done in these kind of events. Although I think if you had a flappy paddle you may choose to change more frequently than you would with a standard manual. (Oh but apparently standard manuals are so much better!!!)
  21. Was using Beaumonts notes on the weekend but will sign up for the Vandenberg notes for the Tassie rallies.
  22. The numbers just refer to the angle of the corner which if you look at a pic is basically replicated by this: The funny thing is that it doesn't necessarily totally relate to the speed of the corner. Depending on the size of the road / exit or more importantly the length of the corner - it is possible for a 3 corner to be faster than a 4 corner for example (although not normally). But many 4 cornners (at least at Lake Mountain) were quite long so were really quite slow. Actually Nick if you are interested this is an example of what seem to be some popular notes using the 6-1 scale, as the ones we used on the weekend were similar to this (were Jeff Beaumonts personal notes). As you can see at first glance its pretty full on and it'll take me and James a few goes to fully understand exactly whats written in terms of real world data. http://tarmacchallenge.com.au/PDFlibrary/2...20VMS_Notes.pdf
  23. Well I had my 1st practise with James yesterday up at Lake Mountain. Just low speeds in his little Audi A3 but just to get used to listening to someone call notes and also to try and get a better feel for what each size corner actually means (were using the 1-6 scale notes). I must say it will take sometime to get used to actually listen to whats being said. When it gets real busy I found I zoned out and just concentrated on driving rather than listening - not sure if thats a common thing or not. I was also suprised at how slow a "4" corner is. I think I expected a 4 to be more like what a 4+ or 5 minus is so it was good to get some better understanding on how it all works. But it was a fun bit of road and I can see why it'd be a popular event. Was also funny how the drive up calling notes seemed to take 1/3 of the time of what coming back down did! Next up we'll go and takle Mt Buller for some more practise. But we should have it licked by the time we get to Tassie

    R35 Gtr

Well do we have any more details as to what it was doing when it went bang?? Was it a standard car or a played with one?
  25. Yeah it doesn't work out for me Richard even though this is something I think I could have a genuine crack at. But you couldn't possibly go into it counting on winning anything as there are too many uncontrollable variables and so if you figure that the $13K+ is only going to give you around 5mins of competitive motorsport it just doesn't add up. Given for $13K you could cover everything needed to do Targa Tas (minus the car - but including car consumables, travel, entry, accomm etc) and for that money you will get several hours competative seat time. So if I had $13K to spend on driving cars I know which one I'd do even if the prizes are vastly different (as I drive for fun rather than proffit).
