I would agree, one of my best mates has a BF XR8 that I've driven plenty of times, steering response is woeful and you are at all times very aware of how heavy the thing is. So no "sheer ignorance" here, sure my R33 isn't the BEST handling car around, but it's a hell of a lot better than an 1800kg Falcon.

Just use the existing floor bit as a template, but maybe go a tiny bit smaller everywhere to account for thicker wood not being able to bend into the spot. You could get rid of your spare tyre (I would rather walk home than drive on that thing... looks like an absolute nightmare) and somehow secure the wood to the floor

I have often wondered this too... heaps of guys selling skylines have highmount turbos, manifolds etc... how are they getting a RWC to sell these cars? It's funny when they've got blue hoses everywhere, big highmount etc etc and they're making 300rwkw, which isn't much more than my car, and my engine bay looks very very stock. Just not worth all that bling IMO -
