  1. are you serious? alpine have one of the best names in car audio because they're quality products, that perform really well for the price. I'd like to see any brand match the achievements that alpine has made in its history. Companies like focal, rainbow, kicker, whatever, specialise in speakers and amplifiers, alpine specialise in a complete package, without compromise of quality. however, the type r splits are excellent for young guys who just want a set of splits to flog the crap out of them, and show off. they make a solid midbass, and take a lot of punishment. Tweeters aren't real nice though. i'd revise your selection and buy SPX-17REF for the front, SPS-600 for the rear, and a PDX-2.150 for the fronts, and a PDX-1.600 or 1.1000 for your woofers. rears arent important. alpine do a pack for $799 that includes the SPX-17REF + PDX-2.150, about $500 off. Cheap as, i'd like to see any other brand match that SQ and amplifier quality for that price they also do a pack that comes with a PDX-1.600 + SBR-S122V for $999, thats about $400 off. Ported sub box, can be a little boomy, but they make a lot of bass, only reason i dont have one, it wont fit in my boot. you'd have matching amplifiers, that are small enough to hide under your seats, and still make decent power. that pioneer unit you've picked isnt' available in australia as far as i know. so fat chance of warranty or backup support if you have problems.
  2. no. they're shit. not worth the waste of money. JVC ones are shit too. terrible quality. dont be tempted mate, its not worth the fuss. if i explained all the customers i've had that have been burned by those pieces of shit, i'd fill this whole page. not worth it, get a decent one.
  3. $14K and its still carbie? lol. you can buy an S14 for $14K and its got more technology in the head, than that whole car has in it.
  4. well i can vouch for patrick's car, clean for a car its age, the turbos are brand spankers, along with all the other bits he's got off me... needs some injectors + new z32s should make a lazy 400 at all four...
  5. from what i've been told the lifespan isnt that great on those bosch widebands... i guess he could use that when tuning, and use the stock for the hektikness...
  6. tried this before with a mates car, we pulled out his old parcel shelf, remade a new one out of 10mm MDF and added some 16mm spacers, and stretched vinyl over the whole lot. ended up being a fail, looked fairly shit, and the speakers never sounded that good, being that you could only get the two front screws in. probably easier to get some decent 6" coaxials and try amplifying your front and rear to get some midbass going....
  7. those alpine boxes are a no go for imports. every salesperson should know that. take it back and swap it for the same woofer in a smaller sealed enclousure. they sound pretty average in that box anyway, sealed sounds much better.
  8. try autometer or VDO if you're not fussed on looks. cheap and work well.
  9. well, a guy who used to be mates with mafia from here had one on his rb25 and it had the same shit water jackets and leaking issues. i have personally sold over 8 of them in the last 12 months and had no problems or comebacks. only issue i had was that they dont come with new rubbers for the injectors, but that was a quick trip down to the local nissan dealership. honestly, they come up really good, and come polished on most surfaces. only thing that is worth doing is maybe port matching and cleaning up some of the cast markings, as it is only a china one... www.autotecnica.com have a geezer anyway. i'm not going to plug the store i work for, as they dont pay advertising, but its pretty easy to work out who sells autotecnica anyway.
  10. mafia on here has one that he bought from me... but autotechnica make one thats the same as vulture motorsports one... IMO the only chinese made copy to buy is the autotecnica one...
  11. i know. i said focal. more betterer. open the box and you can smell the croissants.
  12. +1 for Focal KX... Tent in pants material.... if you've got the coin, wait its for a 34 gtr, you do have the coin
  13. sure you're not reading the wiring diagram backwards? had plenty of people do that one... besides, why do you need a diagram if you have a plug? just whack it in and off you go...
  14. avs? never heard of them. get a mongoose M80S. australian standard, black wiring, insurance approved, siren, upgradable with window winder modules and on board turbo timer. what more could you want??
  15. being only rear fill, if you were going to pick from those speakers on ryda's website, i'd be buying the pioneer TSG-1642R, but really, you need to spend about $150 and get something like Pioneer TSA-1673S or TSA-1683S at least. I have the 1683s in the rear of my car, really everything you could want in a rear fill speaker, nice sounding speaker, good range.. not horribly expensive. make sure you get something decent in the front though, dont be tight there. oh, and everything ^^^^ is assuming you have an aftermarket deck, if you have the factory, piss it off and do it all at once.
  16. Very nice speakers. (i am biased as I work at an alpine dealership) check out the deals in the summer catalogue on the SPX-17REF and PDX-2.150... $799..... thats $500 off!!
  17. Nice, very clean and tidy. Definitely what i'd consider a good install. Pity about the big orange piece of shit in the RHS though... better off making bass with your mouth beatbox style than with that thing. But people will only spend so much i guess.
  18. You know what i love about morons like yourself? You're either too damn stupid, or too lazy to type complete words instead of typing like a 13 year old trying to score with a hot chick on a chat room. Instead of sounding like a complete retard, you could have written a coherent response, rather than just rolling your face across the keyboard and hoping a sentence comes out afterwards. If you knew anything about car audio, you'd know that no matter what you do, the port on that box will make that woofer very peaky and have limited response. I doubt you've checked the phase plot or graphed the frequency response, being that you need more than a peanut sized brain to do so. Your parcel shelf that you've built is far too thick to sit flush against the rear window, and as for your choice of mounting, thats a lot of effort for no gain in SQ and a really ugly way to obscure your vision. For the record, i have sold hundreds of custom boot fit outs, i know what looks good in a car and what looks like crap. I've seen many home jobs and yours is nothing flash. If you knew anything about cars, you'd also realise what others have pointed out. It will weigh a lot, and make your car handle like a bag of shit, as well as ruining your rear shocks and other suspension components. So mate, don't paste a thread on a forum expecting everyone to kiss your arse over your half done job, when generally, people on this forum would probably consider what you've done the complete opposite to what they consider to be a performance enhancing modification. If you already consider your job to be good, then why seek approval on a forum? You're only trying to stroke your ego (and yourself) by posting and seeking everyone's approval. The mark of real confidence, is building something and not bragging about it to everyone, and being happy in your own work. So you can head down to the local macca's car park and pick up some 15 year old wheel biters with your fully sick install, but prepared to get laughed at by anyone who has any idea about skylines or car audio. I'll sum it up for you in simple to understand terms, so theres no confusion on your end. -Will sound bad -Looks bad (currently) -Makes bad handling -Makes the car Slower If thats too much for you to grasp, just go eat a dick.
  19. jeez people cheap out on important parts... why bother? you can't polish a turd.
  20. thats a pretty gay install. those speaker pods on your parcel shelf are a total abortion.
  21. really quite pointless putting a 0.64 AR rear housing on, will eventually just choke the whole lot. you have an RB, i'd really not be worried too much about the 64 rear. I'll be buying a 2871R with a 52 trim front and a 0.86 rear for my SR20. the lag difference is really nominal between them, and if you're really worried about lag, just slap some bigger cams in and you'll move your boost threshold up another 200-400rpm.
