  1. pretty sure he'll make whatever you want.
  2. wtf did you put that in for??? why dont you just buy an aftermarket engine management system like normal people do?
  3. Power extreme 2's are very quiet.
  4. i use penrite Sin Gear 75 in my silvia 5 speed, and my differential. but i have a vicous LSD... i'm not sure about skylines though. it's been in there since i had the car, gearbox still feels good, no crunching. LSD still hooks up pretty good.
  5. all the things above do. installation makes a big difference, but so does buying a well known AND good quality brand. no use buying an amp that only makes its "RMS" power if it was magically struck by lightning. Poor warranty and after sales service always makes a big difference to me as well. well, i've been retailing car audio for over 5 years now, record, produce and master music. I dont work for a wow or a jb that just hires whatever 16yr old wants a job and can read a company brochure. I DJ at a nightclub, and have experience with many different PA arrangements including line arrays. the point i was making was that while you may not like rockford, its not up to you to say that they are crap or whatever. Rockford are very well designed and well made subwoofers, and if you have only heard the basic P1 in a prefab enclosure, you really have no idea what they're about. The P3 and upward series are a very good woofer, we have two of them in our demo car, and even though they're in a fibreglass enclosure, they sound great, everything you could want in a woofer. all audio companies make products for a price point, but you cannot compare them from simply hearing them in one car. you need to hear them in many different cars, in different boxes, with different source units, with different amplifiers, the same goes for speakers as well. So unless you've heard all of Rockford's range (including their new one, only just released) you cannot simply say "Rockfords crap" or "pioneers great" or whatever. Sure those $300 MTX splits in your mates car sound great to you, but someone who knows what car audio is about can pick how bright and shit they sound. Unless you have a pair of reference quality studio monitors at your home, or you've spent many hours listening to different cars or home theatre or PA or studio arrangements, your opinion on SQ in general is rather invalid. But admittedly, the new line of rockford speakers are not for me, however some people enjoy the sound of brighter speakers, i do not. Thats why i recommended the alpine package, as Alpine is not like any other brand, you can't just ring them and say "hey sell me some stuff, so i can sell it at my shop". Alpine pick you, not the other way around. I'm proud to work for a dealer that sells alpine, because it proves the level of service/quality we offer, and we're a Specialist Dealer, not just like a JB store. We finished a VT commodore last week with the package i quoted, and the customer rang me back today to book in again, as he was very happy with his system, but came into some more money, so we're adding to his system. Adding an MRP-M500 mono block and another SWS-1223D. So upgrading is easy and cheap when you want more bass. So it's not like you have to replace gear, as the equipment in the package is flexible and will fit most cars, and the amplifier makes enough power to run different things. So is that an enough of an explaination for you?

  7. the plenum is the least of your worries. FMIC are always associated with lag for some reason, maybe in the 1980's with dinosaur technology it was the case... i put a blitz FMIC on my silvia and didnt notice any extra lag, but heaps more power.... the miniscule lag is far outweighed when you make 20-30kw more.
  8. mmmhmmm... sure... so you can go better than rockford fosgate, when Jim Fosgate was the worlds first person to put a subwoofer in a car? its all well and good to have a personal preference, but until you understand what makes a mobile electronics product good or bad theres no point trying to make your opinion the "right" one.
  9. thats a secret, and i'd have to kill you if i told you.. call gcg in sydney, they're the australian trust dealer, i recently bought a profec b boost solenoid from them at a very reasonable price.
  10. are you talking fitted or supply only? edit: sorry, didnt pay enough attention... alpine do a package called the "digital" pack. it comes with an IDA-X200, s type splits, s type coaxials, s type sub, a MRP-F300 amplifier for $999, it retails for about $1400 i think. so that leaves you some money for a sub-box, a wiring kit, and getting it installed. www.alpine.com.au and look for your nearest specialist dealer.
  11. face the subs towards the numberplate, will gain a few db from rear loading them. mm sure... i've retailed the fibreglass boxes made by innovation audio on the gold coast. they sound really bad, as the fibreglass flexes, and defeats the purpose of a box all together. never heard a good sounding fibreglass box. ever. part number of subs and amps would help.
  12. do yourself a favour, and forget that idea. your old boy will kick your head in once it comes to service time. no listings anywhere for oil filters or any parts. tell him to get an ADM honda/toyota, cant go wrong. it's all well and good for you to be a boy racer, but he's old mate, he wont give a shit about street cred because he drives an import toyota.
  13. the fibreglass corner boxes are crap, they sound bad and they're expensive. i've seen a few fits done where you cover the wheel well in alfoil/glad wrap, and then fibreglass over it, and layer dynamat in the fibreglass and make a sort of bottom for the box, then build a false floor and sikaflex it on to the bottom section.... either that, get over it, you've got a skyline, its not a family car, stiff shit if there's no boot room, go buy a commodore if you want boot space...
  14. HA!
  15. yes, i do that regularly at work, customers buy second hand gauges from people and i have to try and match them up to gauges. I've tried mixing and matching drift/speco, drift/autometer, they seem to work okay, but without a point of reference i cant be sure that they're 100% accurate.
  16. fully qualified what?
