Found the one; looks like it was listed at around $700,000 (bargain ) not sure what it sold for though. Probably my favourite Ferrari of all time and one of my fave cars full stop. http://aussieexotics.com/forum/ferrari-for...le-t4817.0.html

F*ck I love 80s Italian supercars. Awesome photos of the F40. There was one at the Classic Throttle Shop some time ago, I had a good look over.

Type R (rocket Or Bucket?)
God_speed replied to oh-so-swift's topic in General Automotive Discussion
Yeah I'm loving it so far, I mean there are some niggles I'm prepared for, what with French build quality the way it is (is kind of ironic choosing a french car as my daily and a jap car as my weekend car! ). It also comes pretty full of fruit; xenons, leather/alcantara, climate control, 6 airbags, 6cd stacker, ESP on later models. See if you can get a Cup version (182 Cup or Trophy even) if you're going to take it to the track. I'm still new to them though so not too sure about tuning potential -

On you mate let us know how it goes. My daily for the past couple of months has been a Renaultsport Clio (2.0, 125kW, 1035kg 0-100 ~7), maybe not quite in the Integra R category in a straight line, or your Starlet beastie but it's a sweet handler and still good on fuel. Might be a good alternative to a Civic R? Hot hatches are only gonna get more popular with no end in sight to the fuel increases... -

Obviously you're after a JDM car; cos as you probably know we never officially got the 'proper' engine with the dc5r body. Lack of high-octane fuel was Honda's excuse at the time (as well as Nissan's and Subaru's with the SX and WRX) -

oh-so-swift - Can't say I've driven an R, but respectable journos (Evo UK) do give them a very good rap. According to them, they handle very neutrally for a front-driver (are very adjustable mid-corner on the throttle) and yes love to rev. 0-100 in 6.8 sec is hardly slow, but it's not blistering either. Our experience with VTEC Hondas in the family is that they can use a bit of oil when used on cam frequently, but are otherwise quite efficient and reliable engines. The VTEC in the Prelude is a 2.2 by the way. -
Awesome car; I think it's the only road-registered Pagani in Australia? It's the same colour as the one shown at the Sydney motor show a few years back and possibly also a few other events; had the NSW black on white number plate "PAGANI"?

Needing Some Info On The R33 Gtr V Spec
God_speed replied to danny14's topic in R Series (R30, R31, R32, R33, R34)
I think as Messiah and Terry and the others have said it's going to be a pretty similar experience to your current GTS-t but with notably better looks, better power, better handling, slightly costlier insurance, slightly costlier maintenance. The 33R will feel a little heavier and less nimble than a 32R which you could get for similar money (it also has a longer wheelbase), but as compared to just a normal FR, I just love the way the GTR exits corners. It really does act like a rear driver on turn-in, with just a little bit of help from the front end powering out of corners, without it scrubbing wide with 4WD understeer. Just get any prospective purchases checked out properly as there is a lot of crap out there. -
Yeah Kujotk we've seen these cars on the radar at work for some time now, I personally can't stand the copying of designs, it's ridiculous and shameful, but unfortunately it's typical of a developing (as opposed to developed) market and some might say, of the culture. That particular Geely has a "throne" rear seat where the VIP sits in the middle of the car...

Have you got this CD? Looks like it has plenty of articles on the Datto 1600 on it? -
Bmw 8 Series From Japan?
God_speed replied to R-SPEC's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Not even including our grey imports, Australia already has the most competitive car market in the world - more manufacturers selling here than any other market. Totally spoilt for choice -
Bmw 8 Series From Japan?
God_speed replied to R-SPEC's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Both R32s (based on the Mk IV and Mk V Golf) are all-wheel-drive (4Motion) based on a Haldex clutch system - front biased under normal conditions but can send all torque to the rear wheels. From what I've read the front bias together with the heavier V6 motor over the front wheels can make the car a bit understeer-prone. Still a great car though -
Will be anticipating improvement from the European rounds in two weeks but Merc GP will have their work cut out. There was talk during testing before Bahrain that the car suited Nico's driving style more and MS didn't like its disposition to understeer.

Haha I thought the same thing at first too. I was gonna ask what sort of airbrushing was required... But all the best to the OP.

Pretty awesome examples there. Love how the first Fairlady is called "Carl"... -
From the OP it sounds like the model is a bloke!

Who Can Comply Figaro's?
God_speed replied to mini2's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Nah I think it was just influenced by the Fairlady's deisgn. Wikipedia said "Its appearance has a resemblance to the 1960s Datsun Fairlady models." but I suppose you can't take anything Wiki says too seriously. They do appear to have some similarities but the Figaro has that cutesy bubble car look about it. '67 era Fairlady, front 3/4 Figaro, front I know which one I'd rather have -
Not sure what you guys make of the RAYS Duralumin nuts? They go for about $210-240 depending on where you get them, which works out to about $11/$12 per nut. Made sure I torqued mine to 75ft lb or just over 100 Nm, although RAYS recommend 88-118Nm apparently.

Well I saw an original Fairlady this morning in silver ('63-'65?)... gotta say it still wipes the floor with the Figaro as far as looks go -
Bmw 8 Series From Japan?
God_speed replied to R-SPEC's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
That bloke's got good taste... R32 Golf, and a Diamondschwartz E30 with Simmons rims in the background. Reminds me of my old E30 The R32s sound fantastic with the narrow-angle V6. For some reason though, despite having very high perceived quality, Volkswagen regularly rank way down the list on customer satisfaction studies in Australia. I never really minded the dash design / layout with the E36s we had; I guess when I look back now it is quite dated by today's standards. But you can't argue with its driver-focused ergonomics - everything within easy reach and angled towards the driver. That's one of the things the latest generation of BMWs is missing IMO -

Thanks Rowan for the compliment and hyperbole. I think I will now print out your post, frame it and put it up in the garage. I know the 33 is also probably the least popular out of the three modern Skyline GTRs and it is a shame to see so many in poor condition. Hope this one will eventually go to someone who will appreciate it, whenever I choose to let it go. Yeah it looks like there are a few of those Figaros for sale on Carsales. Not my sort of thing but an incredible little car all the same -

God_speed replied to R-SPEC's topic in Importing, Compliance, Modification Laws & Regulations
Yeah this looks like the neatest proper-manual M3 going atm M3 It's been on sale for ages. I saw it ages ago when I was contemplating an M3. I don't think an R34 GTT would be far off in the dry, but in the wet, no contest vs. an S4 -
How come you sold her?
