  1. Looking forward to this. Well done to the organisers for setting this up. By the way is there a plan in case it rains? I assume the displays are all outdoors (never been to FF showgrounds before)? The forecasters rarely get it perfect and it's still a long way out, but the 28-day outlook isn't so hot: http://weather.ninemsn.com.au/long-range-f...rain/nsw/sydney Cheers
  2. It might have been some time ago, I'm not sure. I was just testing out my new suspension; I hadn't been up there in a while. Seemed as though it was mainly at the Cowan (South) end, but the surface also seemed better than I remember further up north too. Edit: According to the RTA website they've just recently completed roadworks on this area from the Hawkesbury up to Kariong. Hawkesbury River interchange - Pacific Highway Road works Lanes closed: Both directions - 1 From: 8:30am on 31 August 2009 To: 3:30pm on 18 September 2009 RTA advice: Reduce speed, Exercise caution
  3. Sorry to hear this mate, hope it is found in a good state. I cannot believe it was stolen in broad daylight on Parra road... That's brazen. Re: flatbeds, I would hope that a tracking company could notify you / the police if a car starts 'moving' without the ignition being activated too. Shouldn't be hard for them to do. Unfortunately the fact it was spotted going south on the M5 doesn't surprise me.
  4. No worries Nick I really thought it wasn't going to happen for a while there. Thanks to the boys at both Tunehouse in Marrickville, and Hills Motorsport at Castle Hill for getting the new suspension arm and getting the car back on the road in time. It was also amazing listening to Nathan telling us everything about the C-130 Hercules over the Richmond RAAF base for pretty much the whole way up
  5. Congrats and all the best to Nick and Jacinda. The ceremony was great. Here are some pics of the cars.
  6. Hey guys, Thought I would just quickly share with you my latest suspension experience... For some time now I've been putting up with the ROCK HARD drift-spec Tein HRs in my car. The car handled nice and flat and was very responsive to steering inputs but was horribly crashy with some steering rack rattle on uneven bitumen and completely ruined the driving experience apart from when driving on track or on ultra smooth roads. After getting in touch with TEIN in Japan, who put me onto Fulcrum Suspension (TEIN distributor in Australia), Fulcrum then recommended Tunehouse in south Sydney. I booked the car in to have some TEIN Super Streets fitted. I dropped the car off Saturday before last, planning to pick up the car last Saturday (5/9). Anyways havoc struck when upon fitting the shock to the front right, the bolt attached to the upper suspension arm sheared off completely. Apparently this is a common problem as the bolts age and become brittle when disassembled. This would be fine except that the car would have to be used for a wedding on Wednesday (yesterday). With sourcing of a new suspension arm from Nissan before Wednesday impossible, some ringing around was done and Mark at Hills Motorsport was able to source the correct part from his warehouse at 10.00pm the night before the wedding. Tunehouse then worked till the early hours that night to have the part fitted so it would be ready for Wednesday. Well the new suspension is fantastic; the EDFC is a very handy thing to have, especially combined with the Australian valving that has been done to the shocks. Tony also had the attention to detail to mount the unit in the centre console with all wiring tucked away neatly. The SS on 0,0 setting (hardest front & rear) is still a little softer than the old HRs (mainly due to spring rate I think; the coils on the HRs were much more spaced out), but on 16,16 they are bliss on Parramatta road / Victoria rd / Richmond rd. Jim Ghelis manages all the boys at Tunehouse, and is a bloke who actually seems genuinely concerned about making a customer happy. Tony is in charge of all the TEIN stuff. They are based in Marrickville in Sydney's inner south-west. If you are thinking about aftermarket suspension they are definitely worth a look and I recommend them. I don't want this to seem like an 'ad', but instead it's just an expression of gratitude and appreciation for the good service provided and also their willingness to work until so late at night to get the job done before the big day - something that seems rare these days especially reading some of the posts on here. Huge thanks also go to Mark and the boys at Hills for their help. Cheers Matt
  7. Just like you I've been looking for an R33 GTR 1/18 die-cast model. There hasn't been one, until now... and thank God it's made by Auto Art - they've gotta be the most accurate die-cast manufacturer, with the greatest attention to detail and best proportions. It's listed as 'coming soon'. http://www.autoartmodels.com/web/product/e...BED58E5EA6F1755 I'm waiting for a midnight purple one. Meanwhile, here's another R33 GTR
  8. Spotted a blue Ferrari F430 Scuderia, Miller St Cammeray. Also has the number plate '348' which itself would be worth about 5 times my car. Also nearby were a black Maserati GranTurismo and red Quattroporte, looked like there was a Mafia boss meeting at Maggio's cafe...
  9. I think this one is still dark grey / black, it's just the photo is a little overexposed - you can see that a flash was used and point of origin is the upper-left corner... I guess Nissan put this special "blank" in one of the coin slots because after buying a GT-R you're bound to have less loose change
  10. Yours is a GTR isn't it Brandon? the front bumper/spoiler, front indicators and side indicators are all completely different to a non-GTR (GTS / GTS-t)

    Gtr Haters

Fantastic garages fellas, would love to know what both of you do for a crust! The R35 is a quantum leap ahead as far as a package is concerned. But for me it doesn't change the fact that the Porsches are still amazing cars. The R35 is beating Porsche at its own game with the 911 Turbo I suppose, but the GT3 is meant to be feted as 'the' essence of Porsche, and yet it's still a very different car to the Turbo and R35. So I can't see why someone wouldn't want to own both a GT3 and R35 at the same time.
  12. Had to be quick to snap up those plates eh mate? Good effort! I think that cos they're both only 5 characters they also just fit the JDM lic plate holder nice and snug right?
  13. The R33 GTR handles awesome right out of the box! JD your setup sounds pretty amazing, I'd like to see how a BCNR33 handles with all that kit on it. I have only modified my suspension by fitting TEIN HR coilovers in place of the (non-Vspec) coilovers and the 1" drop. The springs/dampers are Jap spec I believe and bloody hard. It has got to the point now after about 3 yrs where I am driving the car less and less because the roads around my area have too many expansion joints and potholes and are just plain crap, so I've got some TEIN Super Streets on order which are adjustable for damping and also are re-valved for Aus conditions. Brandon I think that while you can now get R33 GTRs cheap, it doesn't mean you should compromise on suspension, after all these cars are all about handling and if you buy some sh*t cheap-arse suspension then it will ruin the handling of the car and just the driving experience in general. No need to shell out $10K or something like that but it is worth the time doing your research and looking at others' experiences here at SAU, etc, and then buying something quality.
  14. Going off this website I assume the slimline ones are called 'prestige'? If so, seems pretty similar to the front plate on premium plates in NSW, if that's the case I reckon it would look great on your car. I've got slimmer plates on the front of my car and I'd say it wouldn't hinder the airflow to the intercooler as much as a standard plate would (even if the difference is only marginal). I just put some longer bolts and spacers between the bumper and the plate so that I didn't have to bend the number plate...
  15. Yeah thanks mate I finally sold them after more than 6 months on the market (partly due to current economy but mainly because hardly any cars would accomodate them) FWIW, my RE30s are 18"x9.5" +15, the car has been lowered about 1" and JD - I also have a Fujitsubo exhaust (Legalis R I believe)... it is a fantastic free-flowing design with minimal bend, but then yeah the price you pay is that the fatness of the pipe and the shallow bend mean that if you go over bumps too quickly the exhaust will hit. Definitely no probs with scrubbing with 265/40 ZR18 Potenzas either on lock stops or over bumps. There are some good threads in the Suspension Mods section on how far you could go on your BCNR33 - Of course after buying my GTCs I did a lot of research I should have done beforehand and it seems as though 18"x10.5" +12 to +15 is about the limit without some serious camber and fender modification
  16. Welcome mate. Car looks neat and tidy. Make sure you comprehensively insure her! Here are the actual R34 GT-R rims (they look similar but are an 18" rim and are painted the colour of brake dust)... they also have the GT-R logo on the centre cap instead of the Nissan logo.
  17. Nice limited editions guys - an N1 and LM! Here is a picture of blue R34 GT-R with white LMGT4s - I think the colour combo works pretty well (although it is Bayside of course, slightly different to the LM Blue) I'm pretty sure that with the CE28N, LMGT4, TE37 or RE30, all should clear the big calipers of the GTR when ordered in the larger wheel widths. However a few of even these types are made in different 'rim depths' or 'disk types' (completely independent of the offset figure), so don't hesitate to find out as much as you absolutely can before ordering. The person who imported some Volk GTCs for me ordered the wrong bloody disk type and they didn't clear my calipers. They were 18" x 10" +12. Those measurements should have been fine if it weren't for the wrong disk type. They took three months to manufacture and ship out to me; you can imagine how livid I was when I found out they didn't fit. See if you can find a set that you can try on your car before you lay down your hard earned. In any case I think any of the Volks I mentioned would look fantastic on your car, personally my pref. would be white or silver on your blue 33, as opposed to gold, bronze or black. Good luck Matt
  18. As SKYLINE said, the R33s have a rounder appearance compared with the R32 / R34, and with the flared arches of the GT-R, I think something with a bit of dish is nice and aggressive. The R34 rims on KR4-GTR look awesome too (particularly in that colour), but I like a little bit of dish... Here is a pic of mine with some Volk RE30s I bought from another member here- let me know if you want to hit him up for a deal on some JDM wheels.
  19. Ok so there was the Ch9 Car Show with Glenn Ridge or Peter Wherrett 'Torque', they were both bad, but from memory neither really tried to be hilarious, or to be something they weren't - in many ways that's even worse. Even if TG UK never existed, many of the jokes on TG AU are so lame, or their tests / challenges so pointless, I'd still tune out. Such a wasted opportunity. The proof seems to be in the ratings; no. of viewers has declined steadily for each ep. this season, now under 600,000.
  20. +1 Congrats; I'm also interested to know how much you sold her for (and how long you had it on the market). Clearly the market for Skylines (and virtually all cars) is pretty poor at the moment, and it's a shame the sale price of these cars (particularly GTRs) often doesn't reflect the condition and potential of the vehicles. GL with the XR6.
  21. Thanks guys. Yeah AFAIK there are ways of making these fit on a GTS-t but as Hypnotik said it would take a bit of modification. Cheers Matt
  22. Hey Mark, Yes, because they don't quite fit over my front calipers on an R33 GT-R, they won't clear yours either, unfortunately, without spacers. I have bought some slip-on spacers that I can give you if you bought these wheels, which allow the rim to still sit on the spigot (hub) and not on the bolts alone. Like you though, I preferred not to put spacers on the car. I do know someone who has an R34 GT-R and, like me, he got a bit screwed by the person he bought the rims from, and was given the wrong disk type. He runs spacers on the car though and hasn't had a problem so far. He has 19" versions of the same Volk GT-Cs. So check out the Rays Engineering website, which lists the three different disk types. +12 should actually be okay for an 18x10" rim on a GT-R, it's just the disk type which means the inside of the spokes interferes with the calipers. Otherwise they would be fine, so I'm told; they wouldn't require guard-rolling nor would they scrub on full lock. Cheers, Matt
