Call To Ban Young Drivers In Performance Cars
The Bogan replied to R TUNE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
This argument has been going on for more than 40 yrs that I can recall, I got my licence in 1980 and the police were after all the high performance cars and the kids driving them, (me in my Cooper or LJ). And now with the greenies getting on board about "performance type" cars with their planet killing exhaust fumes things will only get worse. I do believe that keeping young people out of V8's and turbo performance type cars is a good thing, young people with no skills will buy whatever they think is cool, being able to control that power doesnt cross their minds. I think you should have your full licence and driver training for any performance type car or a modified vehicle. Though in the real world this wouldnt work due to the lack of skill and/or motivation by the general population in having to do the training. My 2 cents of old man ranting -
Call To Ban Young Drivers In Performance Cars
The Bogan replied to R TUNE's topic in General Automotive Discussion
To be honest most young guys think they have more skill than what they really do. But to be honest again a standard newish 6 cyl commonwhore/falcadoore has more power than your average import/high performance jap type car. People will always crash because people are mostly stupid, mostly. -
If I went and looked at a car for sale and they didnt have the rego papers I would walk.
-
I liked my rego sticker, it had the engineering mod number thingie on it. All in all who cares, police scan my plates, pull me over for a chat then let me roll, which I believe is a good thing, the scanning will keep a heap of dodgy unregoed cars of the road. Plus hopefully it will help with car theft.

Anyone going next Wensday night. I am weather permitting.

Jax tyres can get them but the price is higher, around $250 a peice for 255/40 17 so I would imagine the 18's would be a fair bit more.

My gearbox was rebuilt and modified by award, the only original part was the case, everything else was new parts, the mod put a plate in at the rear of the box to stop the oil running back there, the plate has a hole to let some oil get there and for its return so the area does see oil. There was also some pipe work inside to help flow the oil out too the front of the box. In the end the box took 4 ltrs of Nulon Full Synthetic 75W-90 Performance Smooth Shift Manual Gearbox and Transaxle Oil with 250ml of Nulon G70, Award said this would be a excellent mix. On a side note my Coppermix clutch was as newish still, finally a bonus.

Rb25/30 Rb30det Vvt Internal Oil Control
The Bogan replied to psi's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
My main problem turned out being the return to the sump from the front head drain and the catch can was to low on the hot side of tthe sump and oil was being forced up it filling the head thus overflowing the catch can. Removed front head drain, put a one way check valve into the return from the catch can and increased the restictor size to 1mm. 3 track days and about 6 drag days later and all is fine. -
If you do split I would take either the 16 x 8 or 16 x 9 if the price was right.. Thanks mate.

Don't you guys have the roaming scanners ? And I keep calling the RTA the DMT anyway .
-
I'm also fairly certain that if found driving a car that has been defected it is another fine. The beauty of the new cameras the police have is that they just roll around and check your rego and then pull you over or send you a fine in the mail, not to mention the RTA cars that they have sitting and driving around scanning plates. The laws are there for a reason, all cars are targeted, its just most imports have loud exhausts, big wheels, stupid FnF body kits and are too low. Clear your defect, get it legalish and non-descrpt and then cruise. Owning a import or any modified car for that matter is like riding a motorbike, sooner or later your gonna take a hit.

Professional Engine Flush Advice
The Bogan replied to luthepa1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
Engine Oil Flush Nulon Engine Oil Flush (EOF) is formulated to dissolve and dislodge/remove harmful sludge, dirt, varnish and other contaminants that accumulate within an engine's lubrication system between oil change intervals. Although modern engines are cleaner from an environmental aspect, all the pollutants of engine combustion previously released into the atmosphere are now recirculated within the engine. Consequently, lubricating oils have a much more difficult task in cleaning and suspending all these additional contaminants. When added to the crankcase oil prior to each oil and filter change, Nulon Engine Oil Flush greatly assists in ridding the engine of potentially damaging contaminants. Nulon Engine Oil Flush also helps to free sticky valves and hydraulic lifters. Thermal efficiency of the engine is also improved by ridding the engine of insulating sludge build-up. EOF provides a cleaner environment for fresh oil to operate, so the detergent dispersant and antioxidant additives in the new oil are not depleted as quickly. Benefits: ■ Extends engine life ■ Helps free up sticky valve lifters ■ Keeps oil strainer & pick-up clean ■ Cleans & removes sludge, dirt & varnish ■ Provides a cleaner environment for new oil ■ Keeps new oil cleaner for longer Features: ■ Nulon Engine Oil Flush is extremely simple to use and improves the environment in which lubricating oil operates. ■ EOF is suitable for use with all synthetic and mineral oils ■ Suitable for petrol, diesel, LPG, old or new engines ■ Safe to use in older engines ■ Compatible with seals and all engine components Directions for Use: Prior to oil change, add to engine crankcase oil (up to 6 litres) and run the engine at idle for 10 -15 minutes. Stop the engine and drain/flush out the oil while warm. Install new oil and filter. Use EOF with each oil change to prevent sludge build up. Caution: To prevent possible engine damage, heavily sludged engines require professional removal and cleaning of oil sump, pick-up and rocker cover. Application Rates: Add one 300 ml bottle of Nulon EOF for every 6 litres or part thereof of engine oil. -
Professional Engine Flush Advice
The Bogan replied to luthepa1's topic in Four Door Family & Wagoneers
I've used diesel engine oil before to clean out high K motors with good results, the extra detergents in the oil work well, do a couple of hundred K,s then dump the oil hot.. Though in this day and age the engine oil flush like the Nulon stuff will most likely work much better. -
