  1. New settings were much better, I sent some street tyre (255/40 17 RS4's) setting 6 (max slip 65%) logs to Jacek to have a look and see how it's going

New 0-100 kph is 4.096 seconds :), last settings were 5.08, the one before that was 5.084, before the RaceTCS there was no way of getting it that low

Definitely going in the right direction

Before the RaceTCS I needed to be real gentle and pedal, alot, to not just bag it up, in first gear with any "real" throttle (over 25%) it would just spin, and 2nd under power was just a smoke show, now, I just mash the load pedal and the car launches

You can hear it cutting cylinders, the exhaust note changes, but it just leaps forward and pulls like a train16908805229067198022876985454911.thumb.jpg.4c83371ad894c0bc8cf213462eb01b6f.jpg

Hopefully there is a little more black magic that Jacek can do, a 3.??? would be insane on the street tyres, but, I'm as happy as a p ig in sh it now anyway

Once this next lot of changes come in, if their are any, because a 0-100kph in 4.0 seconds is really good IMO, then on with the drag radials and go for a 60' under my best of 1.6

    My last 60' was a 1.6 with a 11.2 at 124mph, a 1.5 60' gets me real close to that 10.???

  2. Just tried to find a website that went into the "science" behind getting a PCV to exhaust working.....nope, couldn't find it

But, I did look into this year's ago

It had a long tube from the PCV going into the exhaust, from memory about 6" long, but IICRC, the length and diameter of the tube was designed around how much vacuum was in the exhaust at different rev ranges

There was lots of math involved, also lots of fluid dynamic talk and other stuff about that PCV valve, and even scavenging pumps

Even then it was based around a NA application

I get the whole venturi thing, but because there was so much talk about crankcase pressure, vacuum and positive pressure in the exhaust, vacuum pumps.....and math, it made my head hurt so I binned the idea :221_see_no_evil::222_hear_no_evil::223_speak_no_evil::224_monkey:

  3. Updated Configurator was dropped in and launching was done

Settings were better, it wasn't "horrible" at WOT in 1st and 2nd, but still a bit aggressive and noticeable

I logged a setting 6 on the street tyres and a pull from stopped through 1st, 2nd into 3rd, setting 6 lets most amount of slip in the current slip settings, and sent it off to Jacek

I did also tell him I'm happy to lay "some" rubber in 1st and 2nd at WOT in setting 6 on the street tyres, currently I cannot really feel any wheel spin that would really concern me as the TC kicks in real quick

When I'm happy with they street tyre settings I will see how it goes with drag radials at the "strip"

The plan, if I haven't already mentioned it already, (blame my little fun sized stroke I had 2 years ago) is settings 4-5-6 will be for street tyres, settings 1-2-3 for the drag radials

So far so good, test and adjust, test and adjust

    Shiny shiny

  4. Get some real cats

100 cell cats are "catalytic psychological" only good for a visual inspection

200 cell minimum for exhaust fumes, 400 cell and your good to go with minimal performance loss for a registered street car

As for your PCV, your catch can/AOS should capture the bulk of it, the little bit held in the air that gets past the can would have minimal effect

Hell, my little baffled AOS has about 50ml of blowby in it after 5k km, and the intake shows minimal signs of any oil getting past it

I assume dumping to your AOS straight to the exhaust before the cat wouldn't be the best for it

Does your AOS have any fuel foam in it?

There are simple engineering fixes to your issues I believe, both for comfort (AC and some sound/noise deading) for and emissions (well engineered PCV and real cats)

I does sound like your over it though, so make it pretty, delete its internet history, and flip it for drug money

Then buy your comfortable performance Euro of choice and see if that makes you happy

For a old white guy, I don't miss my R33 boat at all, but then, I eventually went full old white guy Bogan spec, that I do enjoy 100x more than the R33 boat

In the end you need what rings your bell and can enjoy by just looking at it

In the end if you flip your Skyline and end up not liking what you got, you can always flip the Euro and start again

That does get expensive and angry looks from your Minister of war and finances

Have you thought about a comfortable old classic something that is a cool cruiser you can put the family in and just do cruises, cars and coffee or weekend trips away with the family

Good luck mate, picking cool cars is hard

  5. I stripped AC, PS (did the whole delete thing to the rack), carpet, deadener, random brackets from my MX5, that was barely noticeable on a 1000kg car

It did turn it from a nice quite cruiser into a hot and noisy car that everyone but me enjoyed being in

I agree with the above, just add power

There is always carbon fibre carbon fibre carbon fibre.......or >>>>>

  6. Updated Configurator has been sent by RaceTCS

I'll upload it in the morning and "test" it tomorrow

I thanked Jacek for his help and time, he said no issue and to keep sending logs till it's perfected

    Tomorrows conversation;

Police: "I've pulled you over because you took off really fast and did a skid"

Me: "Yeah Nah, it's all right, RaceTCS told me to do it" :10_wink:

@The Bogan Yes...it was done tuesday. Before it happens like one time in a month maybe and goes away in a second.
We have done the fluid service and after that it starts doing it. Maybe the new "thicker/better" fluid is too much for the "dying" pump?

@Murray_Calavera Yeah we checked that like month ago...i have new coilovers and bushings...wheels are tight and it does drive "bad" or vibrates from driving...only when i steer the steering wheels starts to shake.
Maybe bubbles in the system? Could this causing this?

And if need to replace the pump...are these pumps same on the "all" R34? Or maybe some other car has the same? (i have RB20DE NEO Manual)
I looked at the parts numbers and genuine pump is like 1050 USD O_O

    Maybe is hasn't bleed properly

To bleed mine (different car all together), I jack up the front so the wheels are off the ground, start the car and go full lock left to right a few times

This will force any air trapped in the system out

After flushing mine the power steering pump is all sorts of weird until I do the above bleeding

If bleeding it doesn't work then maybe look at the pump as Duncan said

Hopefully it is a simple fix

    Nice car, Mark!!

My dad has one of these, it’s a lot of fun! He’s had it for 20 years and cannot bring himself to sell it.

Maaaaate, they are great thing for cruising around, so comfortable, and having 5 usable seats and a big boot is great, plus V8 noises sound cool to my old ears

Whilst they are not everyone's cup of tea, and I only really got it as something as a "in-between fun cars thing", now, a few years later, I have no intention of getting rid of it

I enjoy looking at 100x more than the 2015 WRX I had, but I do miss my 86 that I drove into a guard rail, backwards, at speed

Not saying I'm not looking for something new, but, when I try to justify the change, nothing else really ticks the boxes like the Bogan Cruise Ship does

I think I would actually sell my Harley before the VX

I am picking up the old (2008) Yaris YRS I got for my daughter when her new Cerato GT turns up, the Yaris will be my local daily hack, the V8 does love fuel, and I hate parking the VX at the shops or driving it in the rain

I am sure he will man, but having the menu structure from the V2 app with V3 settings jammed in there should be fun. Obviously I'm curious to see how this all turns out. How did the logs look? Are your wheels following the laws of physics?

Sortware and stuff is fine apparently

I need to reset the "pid" and change the voltage in the configurator to start with

He want me to turn off the TC and log doing a skid to start with

There was an area he wants to look at where the wheel speed went up, but not the revs

Once we get the that checked off there will be more logged pulls with different settings on the TC

    Then, test and adjust

The support I'm getting from Jacek at RaceTCS is really good, typically same day reply

    Cheers

It's not so much firmware. There's two entire versions of the software. Perhaps (?) there is versions of the hardware too. Your numbers don't match the defaults that are in either version. You gotta start from a correct baseline before doing anything else :D

I've sent a file of the configurator and a couple of logs to Jacek from RaceTCS

He said with those files he can sort it all out

    Fingers crossed

  11. I'll take the car out this arvo for some logs

I sent a email this morning to the RaceTCS website and they got back already

They require a file of my configurator to see what version and some logs

Although I believe I do have the latest firmware thingie

    Arrrrggggg....computa stuff

It actually looks pretty simple to pull logs though

Hopefully it as simple as sending logs then uploading the changes they recommend

  12. #kinkstaah you good looking rooster

So, RaceTCS is installed and working as advertised, just to good, or, basically not set up right yet

First tyres tested were the 255/40 17 RS4's

The % of slip settings and the Max % fuel cut, all 6 set at 95% fuel cut are to aggressive for my driving "style" of mashing the pedal everywhere I go

Setting 1: min 3% Max 27% , nope even on a little stab it cuts hard

Setting 2: min 6% Max 31%, nope again

Setting 3: min 9% Max 34% still nope

    Setting 4: min 12% Max 37%

Setting 5: min 15% Max 40%, bit better, but still aggressive

Setting 6: min 20% Max 50%, noticeably better but still cut aggressively with more throttle

Can you have a squizz at the pic to give me some pointers?

What sort of settings do you run

Any tips in setting the min and Max for each Setting, or what % of fuel cut, I assume 95% fuel cut basically turns a V8 into a 1 cylinder, from my uneducated mind....shouldn't it be around 12.5%, which, again from the jumbled mind of Mark, should only drop 2 cylinders?

Disclaimer: I just did math in my head with the help of my fingers

    Cheers :91_thumbsup:
