  1. Welcome to the forum, yes you could save a few dollars on importing, but there are also negatives to importing, for one you dont get to test drive the car before you drive it. There are heaps of other little fees and charges that add up, like a set of tyres, custom brokers, rego, etc. Importing the European cars can be troublesome, you will have to find ones that are RHD and then you will have to find a compliance centre willing to do the compliance. Heres a link to NS.com importing section, some great stickies - CLICK
  2. Just interested, when the car is still in Japan. Where is it being stored while you wait for the approval?
  3. Theres heaps of 2008 GTR35 on goo now. Many have around 300kms, about 10 have less than 200kms, a couple have less than 100km, prices varying from 6mil to 8mil.
  4. Yeah I was thinking them. They have nice website dedicated to cube import. Would have prefered something closer to home though.
  5. I cant remember exactly, but think cars over 25 years might not have to pay import duty or gst or something.
  6. Hey guys, not sure where else to ask this. I figured that atleast this forum is a nissan forum and someone will probably know. I am wondering who is compliancing Nissan Cubes in Victoria at current? I emailed Carizma but they are still a few months from getting the plates. I think SSV has the plates and I am planning on giving them a call, anyone others? Will
  7. Its been discussed before. The shipping would be more but thats about it. As for easier compliance, most cars coming in dont really seem to need much done to them for compliance. The costs actually relate to how much money the workshop has made back since getting the compliance plates. You should find a workshop that can do the compliance and discuss how much it will cost before you make any decisions. By the way, any car that has been imported into Japan from Europe will be exactly the same as the European models, so I wouldn't rule out looking in Japan.
  8. I did a 2 hour trip on my old 50cc once, had to peal my ass off the seat afterwards. But bigger scooters a designed for more comfort than the 50cc ones. Alot of the guys I see cruising around are lying back like an arm chair when driving the larger scooters. Found this Majesty, looks quite nice to me and cheap. --- CLICK
  9. Doubt that any good ones are elligible for import. Decent scooters cost money overseas too. Buy a Yamaha Majesty, they sell in Aus and there is heaps of aftermarket support for them via yahoo auctions. They come with a 250cc and a bigger 400cc if I remember correctly. I might get one when I get back to Melbourne.
  10. It is cheaper and if your confident in a car you can save yourself alot of money. Its also more risky and alot of work. If your not confident with the process, lots of small things can add up, you should probably get an agent to help.
  11. Your not that far from me in Okayama. Shikoku is got to be one of my favourite places in Japan. Personally, I dont think you will ever find the perfect place for what you want as all tracks are located quite some time from cities. Another option could be Kobe as there are a few tracks within a couple of hours drive such as central and Okayama.
  12. Is it possible for someone to update the first post for those of us who dont want to read through the whole thread to see what the developments are?
  13. There are many cases that kms are changed for legitimate reasons in Japan. Sports cars often have their speedos changed to the 320km/h item and they will revert back to the old item when it comes time to sell the car. ie, lots of skyline owners opt for the nismo items. Also some cars have faulty speedos they a changed at some stage in the cars history. But you can usually trace the history with the shakken paperwork.
  14. Everyone is a pro until they are in an accident. Cars are all electric these days, the engines computer controls everything in the car including the cruise control. The cars computer probably doesnt allow the car to be changed to neutral when the car is revving high to protect the engine. Anyway, he tried the neutral option but the car was locked into gear.
  15. Wow, I cant believe something like this could be an issue Seriously, people who rebadge their car are just having a little fun. The are probably increasing the value of genuine models anyway. Not everyone has the money to drop on an expensive car. As much as I wouldnt do it myself, I think people should be able to do as they please with their car without criticism.
  16. The only sports cars that are used in Japan by Police are by the expressway Officers, all others drive Toyota Echo`s and Crowns!
  17. Hello guys, I just wrote this up on the NS.com forums but thought I would paste here as well
  18. They look legit to me. Looks like a private import who has just started a site up but not having an ABN and only a mobile phone number wont given anyone much confidence in them. Its a bit strange that they dont have an ABN, they definitely need one by law. http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=4934...4707&ref=mf
  19. Soarers are really popular in Japan. Its quite suprising how many you can see driving around on any given night.
  20. The same goes for any type of car. The FD crew go crazy about RS spec cars but with some aftermarket parts the lower spec cars can easily become the aggressors. But the fact of the matter is that many people buy sports cars for not only handling but also image. A higher spec model will always get that little more respect, as will a later model. For this reason, its a slightly better investment to purchase a higher spec model. However quality should play a large role in a purchase, I wouldnt except a lower condition car because of the spec.
  21. Some Japanese companys are actually looking at building electric cars that have motors at each wheel. This method has proved alot more effective in powertrain loss and allows for an expanded range with the extra power. Plus you get an AWD car I thought if I ever own an electric car, I would have it hooked up to a small solar/wind source for recharging. Wouldnt be that hard to set up a small setup for powering the car in the yard.
