Wrecking Black R33 Melbourne
tridentt150v replied to UNIQ33's topic in For Sale (Private Car Parts and Accessories)
PM sent -
I know someone that drove a new vehicle back from a capital city with a 7 day permit. Sped through every speed camera he could find just to frustrate the law!!! Vehicle was unregistered - with a 7 day permit - no number plates!!!! Bet the camera's took a lot of really nice photo's though.
-
They can come with either in kit form, I'd guess 100mm, but I'd want to know before I commit. PM sent anyway.

80 or 100mm actuator??

Check the afm is clean too! -
If you have a power fc then you can set the screen on the hc to monitor it with peak hold. You can even graph it as you drive along. Other am ecu's probably have similar features. If you don't have a power fc etc then the only thing you can rely on is an orange flashing light in the top right hand corner of your dash. It will flash on and off when you have a knock of over 60 or there abouts. I was getting knock when in fifth gear and going up a steep hill [retuned now so no longer happens]. The hill was steep enough to make you put the foot down about 3/4 throttle to maintain 100km/h, but no way was the car flat out and no way was it necessary to change gears. I used a trailing throttle to avoid knock on such hills until I got a re-tune.

Thanks lads, the pad one is also listed, I think its an AP60 model, I just liked the idea of the stalk for easy access. But its no good having a busted stalk......................lol

Has anybody tried one of these? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Cruise-Control-Kit-...1QQcmdZViewItem Just wondering if they work OK, I do a lot of highway miles and could do with one.

"Also depends if you're hitting rev limiter in which case knock value on PFC will show large numbers." 'not if everything is working properly. I can nail the limit in my car and knock is no higher than normal." If you use a std or walbro you may [stress may] get this effect..............they can run a bit lean at the top of the scale!!

You can get a proper K&N filter cleaning and re oiling kit made by K&N from Repco etc about $30.

Need more info. I just had a look at my R33 RB25 and there is no 8mm hose near where the rad. hose joins the block that I could see.

You can get lucky.........................but each step brings you closer you know...............

OK, that Ok, I just needed to know if I could dock say 70mm off each side of this wing and then mould the inner end cap back in place so I can screw/bolt the end plate on to it. From what you said [once I shag around and find the supplys I'll need] its no big deal. All my amateur efforts will be inside the wing and covered by the end plate, so should be OK. And if all elso fails I can take it to a cf shop and let them do it..........lol
-
it seems a bit wide, can you cut and mould carbon fibre like fibreglass? I don't have any real experience with cf.

Is this a good buy? http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi...s_promot_widget

You just can't beat sidchrome/snap on/dowidat/vbw/etc etc As the other guys say, buy good quality 'unconditional gaurantee' tools. For example sidchrome will replace any tool that fails and it doesn't even matter if you were swinging off a 11mm spanner with a 1 metre pipe extension and bent the spanner, they will replace it no questions asked. And most top brands are the same, they are expensive, but they stand by their product!!! BTW you tackled a job that is probably one of the worst for nuts/bolts seizing on/stripping/breaking. Anything turbo or exhaust is sure to end in tears [i used the blue spanner to heat then undid the nuts while they were still too hot to hold]. Just seen the poll, do a lot myself, but I also visit a mechanic.......don't have a dyno etc.......so how to i vote?
-
Excuse my ignorance, but are these the exhaust housings that give you more power than a std hiflow one, seem to remember they came out of nissan leopards etc and you could bolt them to the std turbo, get it hiflowed and then make +270rwkw on an RB25. Do I have the right animal??? If so i'd like to get one, a cheap alternative to a gtrs or 2835 maybe??

Was 240, Now 225 With Cams?
tridentt150v replied to tridentt150v's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Just to let everyone who helped me know....... Because I work for a living, couldn't do anything till the weekend. I've just reset the timing on my exhaust cam wheel to 0 degrees and then reset my ignition timing at 10 degrees and took the car for a quick squirt..............noticable power plus boost spiking to 1.5 bar [peaking at 0.85 before, so almost double, I'll have to reset my evc etc now]. I'll be taking it back to the dyno this week sometime and getting the power fc map set up to suit the changes [and while I'm at it I'll have to convince the mechanic that I used that -5 degrees is NOT for RB25's, and hope he learns from this as I have]. Thanks all!!! PS Don't panic, it was only a very quick short squirt in 3rd gear on a very short [private] road, so the 1.5 bar spike couldn't be held because I ran out of road and hill. But its all very promising. -

The worst thing you can do is hose/degrease/clean your engine and engine bay and then let it sit. If you ever do this start the car up and warm it up/dry it out straight away. A clean engine is an alter to work [or pray] on!!

Do You Have Air Con On Your Car?
tridentt150v replied to GKTECH's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Air con is a necessary evil for daily drivers. How much power does it rob: A. With the compressor working. B. with the compressor clutched/freewheeling. C. With the air con switched off. I would have guessed at: A. 3-5hp B. 2-4 hp C. 0-2 hp In which case a fix up at brand X service station vs brand Y service station or 5psi more/less in your tyres would do similar things. Does anybody really know?? I'd be interested to find out. -
Do you think he should have written "this time"????
