  1. It would interesting to know how many GTR owners actually drive their car to it's full potential. You see alot for sale with very low klm's, nearly 3 years old, never tracked and never launched. With the $70k they they get hammered in depreciation it would be way cheaper to hire one once a month for a weekend! As they say some people just have more money then sense!
  2. Wardski sounds like your R35 is a garage queen, let me know you're ready to offload it.
  3. That quote is insane! Who would ever pay that?? What's the break down, is it the parts or the labour which ludicrous!
  4. There's a 2nd hand R35 for sale on carsales claiming it has an additional 3 years extended manufacturer's warranty. http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/nissan-gt-r-2009-12902663?silo=Stock&cr=0&eapi=2&vertical=Car&__N=1216
  5. Yea I agree, you wouldn't pay any more then 85k for this car, the warranty is probably worthless. I'd say 80k then take the car straight to Willall for a full service and transmission upgrade.
  6. As this is a JDM import ask full details about the warranty!
  7. Your right it doesn't make any sense, except for the fact that in the owners manual I believe there's a section for transmission replacements and we are talking about Nissan here! That's the main reason why I believe the additional warranty will be expensive. Maybe 4K for an additonal 2 to 3 years would be fair, I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Anyway insurance companies will insure just about anything these days. Maybe worthwhile seeing if you can get insurance for a transmission replacement only if needed. Basically you're insuring for a 25K failure. As for your $900 a year policy with Suncorp here's what you do. If/when your transmission fails say it caused the car to veer of the road and you hit a gutter damaging one of your wheels. So when you claim for your damaged wheel you can say replace my 25K transmission as well! Good luck with that!
  8. I'd say you're looking at 4K a year min. for extended warranty.
  9. Surprise, surprise! Well you've got it in writing so sue the arse off them if they don't honor it!
  10. Yea give them the 3rd degree and get all the details and quote the aftercare Manager that has given the prices!
  11. Nothing on the Nissan website about it. Still says not available. Does sound too good to be true, guess we'll soon know when further enquires are made.
  12. So obviously they knew right back at the development phase of the car that the transmission was never going to handle the power that the engine was producing for an extended period of time and through the life of the vehicle the transmission would need to be replaced several times (as Nissan don’t fix they just replace) Next time I make an offer on a used GT-R, I’ll be telling the dealer that I’ll have to take 20k of his asking price because according to Nissan I’m going to have to change the transmission sometime in the future. That’s going to do wonders to the 2nd value of these vehicles once they're out of warranty.
  13. How much warranty does a Nissan dealer have give on a GT-R that they are selling that is over 3 years old? (ie out of the of the original 3 year warranty)
  14. No worries thanks for that. I'll make some enquires. I'm in Canberra. Obviously no use buying a 2nd GT-R from a dealer in WA with extended warranty if it has to be serviced by them to maintain it!
  15. Didn't know dealers were selling 2nd hand one's with 2 to 3 years extra warranty. Do you know if this is a full manufacturers warranty covering everything and can be serviced at any GT-R dealer? or is it a dealer specific warranty where the car must be serviced by them with $ limits and/or exclusions?
  16. It will be interesting to see what happens to the value of the ADM cars after they are 3 years old with no on going support from Nissan Aust. (no extended warranty available) and why would you go to them anyway when they just replace and not repair (ie: 20k+ for a tranny) Obviously there are specialists around that can work on the R35 but they're not available everywhere. Anybody know anyone who specialises in R35 repairs in Canberra?
  17. So basically what Nissan are saying is, after your 3 year warranty is over, 'piss off'! We're not going to offer you the option of purchasing additional manufacturers warranty, if you have any problems with your transmission we will charge you $20k++ to replace it. We will also charge ridiculously over inflated prices for any other parts and services you're going to need. Surely if you want continue to get a return on your investment (ie: the cost of setting up these dedicated service centres) you would offer the option of purchasing more warranty so people keep bringing the car back to you for servicing? Extended warranty is available in other countries where the R35 is sold, why not here in Australia?
  18. It seems that if you have a problem with your transmission and it's covered by warranty they're just going to replace it. The techs here obviously haven't been trained to repair these transmissions or Nissan Japan wants them back to find out where they're failing, I believe it's the same in the States as well. Would be interested in other people's thoughts on this.
  19. It does seem ridiculous, having just spent $100k + on a late model 2nd hand super car having only to take it to an after market repair shop to have modifications done on the car's gearbox to ensure peace of mind. Yes, the GT-R is an awesome car but this is surely unacceptable??
  20. Is that 2,600klms or 26,000klms? Just curious.
  21. It's quite simple really. If you price cars, boats, houses etc.. at what the market is wiling to pay, they sell. Smart people know this and conclude their business quickly thereby freeing up cash to move on to their next venture and minimising losses. Other people are just dreamers and end up losing more money as they leave their car over priced and unsold for months as it continues to depreciate before their very eyes!
  22. Wouldn't you just do the whole bonnet, guards and front spoiler to save any edges?
  23. You can definitely do a hell of a lot better then that black one on carsales! Way over priced, too many KLM's, absolutely no warranty with the mods, probably been thrashed on the track with no tranny cooler and standard OEM fluid and to top it off the guy sounds like a real tosser!
  24. Would be interested to know how many klm's the car has done and what you paid, if you feel like sharing.
