  1. Hi mate, I had the same issue some time ago, when I wind up the boost.... breaks/cuts off around 3.5-4K rpm and aroung 5.5-6k again.. re-gapped the spark plugs and issue fixed... I'd suggest to try that first (either re-gap or get a set of plugs that are already 0.8)
  2. 290hp @ 12psi sounds right, but 300 @20psi??? something's wrong some where.... I'm not an expert, but I don't think a hi-flow turbo can hold 20psi, yours must be dropping boost at high rpm just like mine.. as far as I know, the ignition timing is involved here as well
  3. so sorry... I've no clue what this means what's boost duty cycle ?? and how do we change it????
  4. Well according to the workshop there are cars (r33) making 358rwhp with the same hi-flow turbo with supporting mods (which I do have btw), so I think it's fair for me to expect 350 out of mine too... And I can't justify spending $3000 - 3500 on a new turbo setup to achieve 350rwhp.. The fact is it's making 300hp at 15psi (boost drops from 18 to 15), and I think HKS actuator is the way to go atm... at most I lose $200 and still have 300hp, but if I'm lucky it may hit 320-330 mark It's a Remap ECU ..done by Toshi (I'm pretty happy with the job he done)
  5. I kinda realised that I'm not gonna get 350hp with this turbo, but if I can run 17-18psi and hold through out the rev range I'll be more than happy (with what ever the rwhp number I get) I don't wanna pay for whole new turbo setup just for few hp Is it straight forward to change the actuator to a 1 bar actuator? which brand is recomended??? are there 18 psi actuators out there? and yeah !!! Andrew told me that 350 is not gonna happen with this turbo.
  6. hey mate !! is it external or internal??
  7. checked with the workshop and it was the stock rb25 wastegate actuator used (3 psi or something). will change this to a better one in Jan... he said this will be a 13.8psi... will this do the trick??? I guess only one way to find out !!!
  8. Thanks for the replies guys, I'll check with the guy who hi-flod the turbo, what housing .6 or .8 and what wastegate actuator were used. At this stageall I know is the wastegate is internal...
  9. hey guys !!!! got a hi-flowed turbo and all supporting mods on my r33 s-II (coil packs, fmic,z32 afm, pod etc.). the turbo can't flow enough air at high rpm so it drops from 18psi to 15psi and making only 301rwhp. any ideas/ suggestions on what my options are to get to 350hp mark ????? Will I have to get a new turbo altogether or are there any other options??? If new bigger turbo is the only answer, what turbo? are there any bolt on solutions? here's the dyno graph .. Cheers !!
  10. very interested in getting a HID kit... what 3 brands and what prices are we looking at for the new GB??? Is 6000k street legal??
  11. mate !! best bet would be to call dr. Drift to find out.. I'd think there should be a connector/port to connect the ecu to the laptop if it's a re-tunreble/ dr.drift type ecu where as a Toshi type is identical to stock ecu (non-retunerble)
  12. great deal, I'm in for this.. really soon. Thanks for organising teh GB cheers !!
  13. LOL... APPOLOGIES if you had to google around "ARISTO" ....noobs...
  14. basically, you should be able to clamp the MAF at 5V using the interceptor so that the stock ECU would not boost cut, Tuners say that it's impossible to do this using interceptor.. so through out the rev range (in any gear), 3k, 4.5k, or even 5.5k it boost cuts..there were so many other issues tuners mentioned but I don't know how to explain. First I thought it's a tuner problem and kept changing the tuner.. and after 3 top rated tuning shops, Im convinced this unit is not for my car...(I learned the expensive way) Same time had a friend using an interceptor in his Supra (uses a MAP sensor) worked perfectly running well over 300rwhp I got 266rwhp at the moment where my turbo could easily push over 300... But I'm getting the stock ECU remapped. hopefully remap will work fine and I can use the interceptor on top of that if I have to.. Have you considered ECU remap or Nistune?? both these are cheaper options .. If you are not planning any further mods in the futuer, remap is ideal.
  15. Hi Mate !! Have you considered engine conversion? an Aristo TT engine ???? Just an idea
  16. I can tell you lots of reasons why not to do this... First of all it's not a full ECU. Just a piggyback. So you are still running from ur stock ECU oh !! man where to begin ???? ok.. here's my story, I bought the Interceptor about 2 years ago and it costs 300-400 just for wring it. took it to 3 different tuners still nothing but disappointment.. It can't control boots cut, MAF cant be clamped I'm only running 10psi. I even called up Haltech and they admitted that interceptor may not work on R33 well. (something like Interceptor can't get R33 triggers correct ).. Anyways if 3 different tuners can't get it right it has to be the unit... Man ... get a full ecu or even SAFC or Emanage will do a better job than this. but hey I'm not anti-Haltech, their full ECUs (e11) are very good units if you can afford.. There are soooooo many options out there for R33s... and as far as I know and from my very expensive experience Inerceptor is not one of them it's worse driverbility, more fuel consumption etc ..etc...
  17. Got an Interceptor in My 33 series II. dude !!! DON'T DO IT. BIG MISTAKE
  18. Lovely car mate ..... I'd keep it : ) but good luck with the sale !!!!
  19. I'm not sure what Tein they are , coz I got them with the import, didn't bother to chech back then and didn't have much knowledge either. I agree with Roy, even a stock skyline would lose traction on wet conditions. The mods make it worse (but perfect for dry conditions). So I guess there’s nothing we can do about driving when wet other than just been very careful and always keep in mind that your car is designed and moded to suit dry conditions. Just go easy on the gas when wet.. nothing wrong with the car… J
  20. Yeah !! I have the same issues, on wet roads, I think it's due to hard suspension. I got EDFC setup in my car and I noticed that harder the suspension I set, less grip on wet roads I get. So I always drive on softest setting on wet and just have to be very careful. I try to drive without the turbo kicking in (slow launch)
  21. Hi mate !! As far as I know, Nistune doesn't have a board for R33 yet, so ur options are to either get a Z32 board or RB20 board and do a Nistune. I was gonna do the same and was talking to Hyperdrive about the same topic. Next Option: Dr. Drift (Sam) who got a daughter board for R33 ecu (but $1100) Next option (Im currently doing): Toshi's ECU remap ($550)... Only thing is this not not re-tuneable. So if you can wait a few weeks I can tell you how it goes Hope this helps !!
  22. Hello everyone !!! I'm new to the forum but not really new to the cars/skylines. Music: R&B mostly Hobbies: Riding my motor bike, Cricket, Movies
  23. mmmmm that explains a lot and makes sence. !!!! Had a chat to Andrew from Hyperdrive today and also Sam from Dr Drift who's got a daughter board for R33 ECU ($1100). So I guess I can either use RB20 ecu and Greddy MSS(for VCT) to do Nistune or get Sam to install the daughter board onR33 ecu and make it tuneable. I'm wating to hear back from Andrew coz after all he the tuner. I'm paying for not consulting a / the tuner and buying an Interceptor which cannot be properly tuned on a R33. I spoke to Aaron from In Tune today, he's willing to check the wiring and do few test ot see what's wrong but I think it's best to just remove the Interceptor and get a fully functional and well tuneable ECU rather than a piggyback..
