  1. Hahahahaha sweet... Yeah haven't decided if I'll use compressor or bike pump yet. How did you block off the throttle? I only want to pressurise from air intake -> intake plenum (but not including the plenum)
  2. The engine's not gonna be on, just block off the throttle plate and replace AFM with tester, pump with air compressor/bike pump etc and listen for leaks. Yeah, as above will block off throttle/intake so it doesn't even get to the motor. Thanks for the info too man Next question is how to block the throttle end of the piping??
  3. Hahaha no thanks Anyone have ideas for how to make a pressure tester for my piping? I'm thinking PVC end cap, drill small hole in side, insert bike tyre air screw part, seal around the edges and hook up to compressor. Replace AFM with this item and listen for leaks in piping?? Will PVC withstand 10psi?
  4. According to the news, CBD traffic is shit. Nothing crazy over this side of town though
  5. You're tried a big breaker bar? The other thing is to try and crack them by tightening a little bit.... and then loosening once it's been cracked.
  6. Very sure it's not an exhaust leak pre-turbo. Manifold is sweet, all studs and nuts are great, gasket was like-new and I used goo too. Can't hear anything like an obvious loud exhaust leak. Wastegate..hmmm. I'll see what I can find out. I'm thinking it's more likely to be intercooler piping loose. I've had a few pop off over the couple of years. Might just undo/redo all when I can be bothered and see if that helps
  7. Yeah that was my thought too. Would it be more intake-related you think? Or could a leak anywhere in cooler piping slow the spooling down?
  8. Turbo changed... little bit of messing around to get her to start but finally got it sorted. It's weird though, doesn't seem to want to make boost easily. Thanks for the help Dan. After that last hose went back on she started perfectly
  9. Sorry Miso I'm busy doing my turbo swap Got the 33 one off finally tonight. Started last night for an hour or so, then probably about 3-4 hours today on and off between running to shops, bunnings, the girlfriend's place, yatta yatta yatta. No real issues, just needed to get a 24mm socket and then some gasket goo later this arvo before repco closed. Both dump and turbo manifold gasket are sweet, near new. I had an inkling that my turbo was not the original one (no heatshield, and looks in generally worse condition than the rest of my motor) so this helped confirm that. Also the 6 dump bolts were easy, and the 4 manifold nuts were barely tighter than finger-tight after moving the lock tabs out of the way. Banjo bolts were a pain and I've lost all the coolant out of the block but oh well, I've got another 2 bottles in the garage. Now have the 34 one lined up, oil return in and dump bolted up for now. Might give the rest a go later tonight if I can be bothered, otherwise tomorrow. Pretty happy, first time I've removed a turbo and it mostly went to plan. Hardest part was having to get under the car to undo the bottom bolts on the dump, not much room in there lol
  10. Hey guys, not sure if this is the right place for this stuff Not sure what's happened to trader ratings? Also the iPhone version doesn't have an option for clicking on the page number. Would be good to see the page number listed as well as a 'go to page: ' form. Not sure if this is do-able or not, but thought I'd mention it.
  11. Yeah I'll just suss out what I need to re-use when I get to it I guess. Twas over the phone my good sir so no pics, but I was guessing the same as you.
  12. I meant on the turbo where the oil return goes in (i think thats what it is, not sure) there's like a flat surface area around the hole - looks like it needs a gasket. Burson have a turbo gasket kit with 2 metal gaskets and 'about' 4 cork ones for $50. No washers. What's the enzed place you mentioned?
  13. Ok so I -might- be able to re-use those washers, depending on how they look when they come out? Should I drop my oil before I do this? Or will it just be a small amount of oil that comes out of the feed? I should drop my coolant though, yes?
  14. Ah ok good point bout the dump. What exactly IS a banjo bolt?
  15. When replacing my turbo, what gaskets do I need? I'm thinking: Manifold-> turbo gasket Turbo->dump gasket Oil return gasket? Am I right that the oil feed doesn't need one?
  16. Be careful driving around that side of town..... it's pretty much the worst hit
  17. Wooot picked up an R34 turbo in sweeeeeeeeet condition
  18. I'd probably be doing 5000kms / 3 months - whichever comes first. That's just me though.
  19. Went down to Windsor last night and parts were underwater with roads cut off, especially around the bowls club. Albion maccas -> breakfast creek was eerie last night. No lights, floodwater up on the road. People were scaaaaarrrred.
  20. Without much knowledge, I would assume you can splice into one of the wires on your ECU. Try and find a pinout diagram of your ECU wiring?
