  1. Turns out all is good guys. Had another mate come around and he found something that the mech did not find. Too embarassing to mention but all is fixed now...

  3. Its pretty out there isnt it nick. Although I am still unsure on the nose, if you chop off the front guards it would like a fishing boat lol.
  4. I will be taking dirtgarages advice for the rebuild, he is very confident in what he says and he has the cars to back it up. Just have to sort some things out first before I can proceed. Although I must admit my faith in the stock motor is wavering after my experiences. I am hoping it is human error and not engineering.
  5. Turbos have been rebuilt 2000 clicks ago by garret. brand new N1 oil pump has also only done 2000 clicks also. I will get them inspected regardless though, still gotta grab some cash etc.
  6. Yeah I hope the crank is ok. My car dynoed at 230awkw at 1 bar and I was completely satisfied with that setup. Does anyone know how or why bearings break so easily?

  10. Yeah that was when my first motor blew, which was 5 months ago. I just got the car back from the workshop 3.5 weeks ago. The place I bought it from gave me warranty to replace the engine free of charge with a 33 gtr engine or rebuild the 32 one with forgies at a cost. I was pushing for the rebuild but the option was then removed and I had no choice but to replace the engine. Either that or take the car else where and pay full cost. I thought I might as well use the warranty while I have it...but now back to square one again with no warranty. I have had some pm'ed proposals for rebuilds that I am considering at very decent prices - just gotta pull a bit more cash together and get started.
  11. Geez. Already got all your bolt ons (injectors, turbos, N1 pump, pfcs, pipes etc), but dont have your insides. So definately just the engine I am after work on.
  12. Just had a second hand R33 GTR engine installed 3 weeks ago. The car was driving perfectly until last night when I got home - my big end bearing is shot. Some say just replace the bearing and the crank (if the crank needs replacing - $1500), others say rebuild the whole engine (5k) and possibly go the whole 9 yards with forgies (10k). My first engine blew 5 months ago from a failed oil pump and I only got the car back 3 weeks ago, this 'new' engine blew because - well I have no idea actually, was only running 0.8 bar. So I would like, once repaired, for this engine not to blow up again. I would also like to know where I should take it (preferably hills area or western subs) for these repairs. I dont want cheap and dodgy and I dont want somewhere that charges unreasonable rates - a happy medium. Thanks in advance if anyone can help a guy thats just about had enough of a car he has only owned for 8 or so months.

  16. Turns out it was only a bad earth. All electrics are now working again and even my 4wd. Thanks magic bolt and now I can still go to putty road. Thanks dirt garage and co for your advice...such a simple fix, slightly embarrassed but mostly releived.
  17. checked from the hicas and voltage does not move from the control unit in the boot after pressing the accelerator and yes the ignition was on. However the purple wire going into the pfc was working fine, so the fault must be with the pfc. Either way I have to take it to a mechnic that knows pfc's (can anyone recomend in hills district?) becuase all my electrics have just decided to go spastic like I have dropped a major earth. My stanard guages oil pressure is reading 10 bar (off scale) but my after market guage is reading 50 psi. Whenever I use the blinker the power steering turns off every time the blinker emits and then turns on every time the blinker is off. So turning a corner with the blinker is on (power steering off, on, off, on.....). Same goes for braking and basically anything electrical. Kind of scary now.

  19. Turns out there is no need for T-peices. I have my oil filter relocated to the front of the car and the bracket it sits on had two bolts. The bolts didn't seem to be doing anything so for interests sake i undid them only to have some oil come out and the thread size to be exactly the size I needed for my senders. Lucky indeed.
  20. Here is my knob: Its a rubbery feel thats not too hard and not too soft. It is neither a long and skinny or a ball. Its very comfortable in your hand. Best knob I have ever used.
  21. Yeah my missus thinks that tuned cars (not kingswoods) that blow black smoke are shitboxes about to blow up. She tried to get me to buy a micra (shivers down spine). Over my dead body.

  24. Bugger. So no simple fix here I see. I wonder if the fact that I have a 33 gtr engine and a 32 gtr gear box has anything to do with it. I can't see why it would though.
