  1. This sucker runs so rich (veeery safe, no risk of detonation with this baby!) that for the first 2 seconds it feels like it is choking on its own vomit...
  2. Today I re-tested my car’s acceleration times over 5 runs after 1800km, with stock air filters in place for the past 500km. My 0-100kph times ranged from 4.37ces to 4.55 sec. I tried everything and every combination: stall against the brake to 2400RPM (limit) ; step of the brake and hit the gas. No real difference. My car engages quite well and after 10-20m or so it bogs down for about 1 sec before taking off again with real momentum. It refuses to accelerate from a dig in a linear fashion. This bog-down happens in first gear so it has nothing to do with a gear change. It seems that after the initial launch something in the ECU shuts down or retards the timing, before it resumes on its ballistic trajectory. I spoke to Mathew at Col Crawford who will be doing my first service next Wed-Thurs. We will go for a test drive and also compare with the demonstrator car. It’s a real disappointment so far!
  3. Ha, ha, ha...if milk comes from a plastic bottle then cow hide comes from a plastic cow...
  4. No, it's not dry. It is a loose surface delaminating from the base leather. it's called grain separation. My leather consultant told me that they have over sanded the poor quality leather to get rid of all the barb wire scars and blemishes and then it became crap, which should have been dicarded. No problem, customers won't notice it at 300kph...
  5. I have found the quality of the leather in my GT-R less than impressive. Both front seats' outer bolsters are made of poor quality leather, which has no elasticity and crinkles under slightest pressure. It suffers from, what is called in the leather trade "grain separation", where the surface of the leather is no longer attached to the fibres of the base. It's a bit like Glad Wrap stretched over a piece of meat: it does not adhere and leaves wrinkles as you press it. I looked at four other cars in the dealership and they all had the same issue to a greater or lesser extent, mine being the worst. Nissan Australia sent one of their roving engineers, who is not a leather expert, to asses the situation and concluded that this horrible missmatch, being a natural product, is perfectly acceptable in a $180,000 car! This just adds insult to injury, after fitting both rear seats made out of the cheapest vinyl available, without cushion stitching. Nissan saved $5.00 on the small patch of bolster leather and $50 on the rear seats! Nissan Australia has refused to replace the seat covers under warranty as they do not see any deffect. Take a look at these photos guys and compare them with your own GT-R seats. Any feedback would be welcome. I am taking this now to the Consumer Trader and Tenant Tribunal.
  6. If they are more than $600 each we will only buy one in an emergency ie. if we get a fatal side wall puncture
  7. Thanks for the tip. The thought crossed my mind! It appears that both cars have the same turbo lag down low, hence similar sluggish 20m, but yours has a better top end which could be due to the air box. I will swap back to stock air filters and give it another shot at 2000km. What was your max HP reading? Mine was only 265kW with 1830kg gross weight input. Good luck with the HKS!
  8. And how is the pricing policy going to improve the 0-100kph times?
  9. With just 1150km on the odometer and K&N filters installed, my GTech Pro RR results were not as good as yours: All 3 settings on R, no launch control, stall to 2500RPM (electronically limited!), floor the gas and step off the brake: 4 runs: 0-20m 2.552 sec, 0-100kph 4.344sec 2.575 4.377 2.542 4.316 2.560 4.351 The first second and a half after launch it feels like stretching an elastic band as the boost builds up and then all hell breaks loose. I am wondering if the brand new clutches need to bed in more because it feels very laggy from a dig, until a second or two after launch when it goes berserk. I never got a hint of a wheel spin on smooth new asphalt. Also, the engine may still be a bit tight? This car is definitely a rolling start king but from a dig, without launch control, it's not setting the world on fire.
  10. I stand corrected...: "GT-R is the fastest and best handling car for the money". Can I now re-inflate my bubble?
  11. Thank you. Wrong forum for AMG, but here you are...
  12. Actually the GT-R was built to compete only with the 911 Turbo as a bench mark to beat. I says so in all its publicity and media releases. It is the only Turbo AWD sports car Porsche makes (apart from the Cayenne Turbo) Now that the 911 Turbo has been comprehensivelly defeated, the media have trotted out the GT2. What next, an F1 car, Bugatti Veyron, the Space Shuttle? Eventually something has to be better than this Japanese upstart, hang the expense! Read this article very carefully. It's very biased towards the Porsche and not very factual. It states, for instance, that GT-R has brake rotors 360mmF and 330mm R when the actual size is 380 F & R. The journo could not even launch it properly. You lose at least 0.5 sec holding onto the brake and revving it the way he did. GT-R shuts down for a split second when you let go of the brake. You are supposed to use one foot only: from the brake straight on the gas. I got my car last week and already did 700km. Even though it isn't fully run in, I can safely say it is the fastest and best handling car money can buy. You can spend 2,3 or 4 times the price but you won't get much more performance.
