  1. 2 ways the less shitty little crossovers built into a speaker the better. if its just for rear fill then 2 ways.
  2. my cars depreciated a lot too. and i left it there for one year without touching it while i went overseas. i was thinking bout selling it..for a deposit on a house. if i did that i'd drive a peice of shit car for the next 3 years or so and work only towards the house... i really wanted an s2000 at the end of this year, my first year of working, but couldnt justify the money cos of how quickly it depreciates..so i compromised. keep the s14, spend 2k or 3 on it since i was a cheap ass uni student before and couldn't afford to mod it in those years. u gotta come to a balance in ur life...u struggle now but ur salary goes up in most cases. im not into the whole going out and spending big on weekends etc. to me driving the car is fun (something i've missed for a year) and browsing the forums is fun. if i just worked all day towards the house then it'll suck...try to compromise. 33's have gone down heaps...i was looking for a series 2 33 or a series 2 s14..the series 2 33's were 22ish at the time and s14a 19.. and now s14a's go for a bit more than the 33 series 2's. its wierd how that happened.
  3. for the s14 ones.. theyre the same as s15, can be had for under $150 for fronts. u see ppl sell sets with rotors for $250 on ns.com as for r32s..dunno, do asearch on here for how much they go for if ur desperate for a quick answer.
  4. thanks michael_1882. thats what i thought too..theyre designed by greddy but made overseas but the other guy said that wasn't the case..so i wanted confirmation on that. i know the piping is exactly the same as the other models.
  5. sat nav and things ur better off going seperate units or paying quite a bit for it in a fold out screen. what exactly is ur budget. the hard drive versions r also quite pricey. ur looking at a few g if ur looking at the alpine models that do these. car pc cheaper.
  6. they are a cheap copied design or they are designed by trust/greddy and manufactured overseas?
  7. r u sure that they're the same design as the cheapy copies? i know they're made in taiwan but i tought they were designed and tested by greddy but just manufactured overseas.
  8. please pm me price delivered to melb.
  9. does this include everything needed to connect it up excluding the control box ? how much delivered to melb ? thnx
  10. u can get these for $635 delivered if ur willing to wait for sea freight roughly 2 months..thats what im doing anyway for mine.
  11. intersted in the v3 for $200 to vic? if ur not giving in the bundled sale i mean.
  12. how do u think they'll feel in summer? does it stretch and stuff when u wriggle around? also how does it stay so taught, like follows the contours etc? normally a tight fabric will just..be flat.
  13. Willkommen to skylines australia. Ich lebe in Melbourne aber ich arbeite innen Switzerland. Skylines sind große Autos, ...you will like them. mein Deutsch ist sehr schlecht . Ich habe nicht gesehen Skylines heir. screw it, i suck at this
  14. the governments been bailing alstom out for years, its no secret. thy weren't profitable for quite a while but now are ridiculously profitable and shares are sky rocketting. just rcently each employee was given 12 shares or somethin cos we reached some target figures, i think each share is like $80 or something. but u can only sell after 5 years if ur still at the company and i dont see myself there in 5 years still.
  15. engineer at alstom in switzerland. alstom does high power gas turbines that generate electricity for cities. left melb uni last year after doin mechatronics for 5 years miss australia.
  16. it seems u might have blown one of the channels of the headunits amplifier. is it still under warranty? replacing the parts are cheap its the labour that will cost a lot if its not under warranty. check to make sure by fading from left to right etc. u've already confirmed its not the speaker.
  17. there are small kits u can buy at jaycar that consist of bars of say 5 LED's that are 12V DC already so its perfect for ur car. they're quite bright i think, look at the MCD rating of LED's to determine their brightness. ie. those little LEDs u see to indicate stuff are like 15mcds. there are 6000 ones etc. the single ones u will need a small board consisting of a voltage regulator and 2 capacitors or so depending on the voltage of the LED's, most likely they wont be 12..if they are its better to use such a regulator anyway. i'd probably suggest u use one or two CCFL tubes instead. Theyre really thin and much brighter than neons. The reason being that led's will have regions of brightness etc. ie. the centre of the led, then dim away till the next one and so on. It wont look completely even whereas two CCFL tubes i think would give just the blue glow etc. one just above the writing and one just below. u could be creative and put a little mirror next to the ccfl making all the light go in the middle only.
  18. ive had fold out monitors and they suck. and i mean not el cheapo ones off ebay but but motorized branded ones.. they look ugly when they're out, hide controls (heater controls in an s14) etc. moulding it into the dash looks much better IMO as it blends in with the stock feel of the car. like it just rolled out of the factory, no flashy stuff. ive gone to great lenghts to do this, even trying to recrate the 'rough' plastic parts so it blends with the rest of the dash. and the way its positioned in my car its angled upwards slightly just near the shifter..easy access for ur fingers. like i said, i just wanted the stock look u find in more expensive cars rather than the aftermarket look. I wish i had a pic to show u all but ..my location...my car..in diff places with the carpc company, r u guys redesigning the pc's boards etcs or something? or just whacking in the power supplies etc that were talked about earlier?
  19. what do u want to acheive out of the car? an SAFC + gauges is not a substitute for a PFC + hand controller. Ok cost wise maybe they are equal but not in terms of tunability. look into what u want to acheive with ur car then decide which sort of engine management system is better for u.
  20. a car pc is just a normal computer basically. theres software for downloado n the net like the menu screen seen in that above post. basically all u need special is a power supply. there are quite a few to choose from, but the popular models seem to be the opus ones which support boot up and soft boot down when ur accessories is turned on. the most expensive part of a carputer is the fabrication for the screen in my opinion. an LCD touch screen (basic non fold out) is about $300ish. moulding it in nicely so it sits flush and blends in with ur cars stock appearance will cost a bit depending on ur car..unless ofcourse u want to do it urself which would be the best way.. doing this will cost a bit if professionally done..expect like $300ish for labour. lots of fancy things u can put in like a slot loading cd rom , etc. personally i have USB ports underneath it. u can also do some neat things with the nissan consult port to monitor various things, but simple things like GPS etc. is only $60 more. if ur a real audiophile then u want a good sound card for tuning purposes. basically a carputer can cost u $500 or $5000 depending on how far u want to go. u can get all these shuttle pc's etc to save room, or u can build the case urself and make it look nice etc. a lot of ppl have built mini pc's to sit behind their dash even with some cooling options.
  21. im thinking around 18 to 20k or so in 4 years time. they weren't 10g's more 6 months ago though:P but around 3 years ago they were around the 30 to 35g mark i think. basically cars depreciate a lot, if ur concerned about resale values..mercedes and stuff is where its at. having said that, theyre always gonna be more than r33's etc. and it'll seem to settle like s15's have just 5k over s14s, etc.
  22. hey thats my thread hehe a lot of people dont use them, i didnt hear how mine sounded without them through others on CAA, i just put them in because i've heard good things about them, $40..meh.
  23. mines almost complete, just waiting till i get back to aust and get a decent sound card and then put it all in there. IMO car pc's are around the same price as a decent headunit and u have far better tuning options depending on the soundcard.
  24. depends how much it will be to bring it back to a good condition. being mechanically minded u can judge the car fairly well i'd assume. do some figures in ur head and incorporate the time etc. redoing something urself always ensures that its done right remember. always better than buying a car with a 'fully rebuild engine 3,000km ago' good luck with ur search.
