  1. confirmed. how does the timing sheet work - old collingrove style (ie constant printout) or supersprint style (wait until all runs complete then get the goods)?
  2. yeah got new A048s, started at 28psi but they were up to 40 straight after the first session. bled them back to 32 hot, then lost the ability to check due to melting tyre gauge yes it is never ending, tossing up whether to spend 2k+ on some S/H tein type flex or ~1k on super streets. SS aren't ideal but they are cheap and will probably be better than what I've got now. I still have a near-new set of Tein Type Flex from my S15, but they're pretty useless due to not owning an S15 any more.
  3. semislickR32: Money Incoming. Finally!
  4. I have been informed by Bridgestone Motorsport here in SA that the RE55s are not DOT approved and therefore are not street-legal (for track use though I loved the set I had). The Advan A048s are another semi that are DOT approved. I've done one trackday on mine and they're good so far (should be: they are the control tyre for the V8 Utes and aussie racecar categories).
  5. yeah it was happening all day and into the northern hairpin as well. Suspects are a combination of tyre pressure issues (started way too high, then lost the ability to check as the heat of the valve was melting my supersheap auto tyre gauge!!), but main problem is I think my dampers are shagged (old bilsteins which were on it from Japan) so the car was bouncing and tyre lifting off as I went from full throttle to full braking. need to spend more $ on coils
  6. on a different topic, what is the timetable/format for the day? will there be CAMS scrutineering? timed sessions for X cars at a time? etc... cheers
  7. if you're talking about "trackday" i've got it on my phone but haven't had much success getting it to work yet. it took ages to register the starting point and then triggered laps at totally different parts of the track. perhaps the gps reception wasn't great - I'll try next time to get a better signal on the dash...
  8. yeah they are pretty snug 345mm rotors + 4-pots under 17's. if their stopping power was matched by tyre grip I'd be laughing, but instead had loads of lockups... need to sort my pressures i think.
  9. nice pics Kim - the twin R35s look ready to take over the world and yeah those carbon brakes on the F430 are nuts. crazy how hardcore the setup is for cars that don't tend to see much track time. Tom gave it plenty though once he'd got into the groove. Only complaint I have about the day was the clown driving my car best lap of the day was my first and just got progressively slower throughout the day struggled to find grip on initial braking and turn-in all day. The new 2860s were a lot of fun though! edit: that's a lot of smilies in 4 sentences!
  10. After some minor technical difficulties (read: idiot operator), I've managed to stick some of the photos from the day up on SAU: http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/Ma...-P-t313031.html Thanks Kim for the great day and thanks to Tom for letting everyone blow their load over his F430. Cheers!
  11. Here are some pics from the John Bowe course up at Mallala today. Thanks to Kim for organising - a high calibre field today making the old R32 look like a bunky old piece of crap next to the R35s, GT3s & F430! tip for young players: never click post topic twice when you've got attachments!
  12. What I've read: lots of people are happy A1RM customers What I've personally experienced: ending up deep in the kitty litter on northern hairpin after 2 laps after getting complete brake failure, despite following bedding procedures and despite only running stock GTR power and street tyres. Same thing happened on the following sprint day, after which the front pads were 100% worn and were in the bin I used to have Ferodo DS2500 all round on my S15 and they always impressed even braking repetitively into the northern hairpin on semislicks. Granted they are twice the price but in my humble opinon they are in a different league for performance and are still great on the street. I would recommend them without hesitation. The kitty litter must've got up my nose cos I went crazy and got a mad Project Mu kit, car now stops like it hit a brick wall but the HC16-03 pads I've got are definitely NOT suitable for the street - very very noisy - I'll be stepping back one rung when (if!) they wear out. Still running A1RMs on the rear which are doing an adequate job gslrallysport is a passionate defender (and vendor) of the A1RMs so if he's lurking I'm sure my negativity will be corrected, but as I said I've read that lots of people track them successfully and they are cheap, so give 'em a go and if they work then you're set.
  13. Definitely in on this and happy to cough up the currency.
  14. Hi Luke, A bit off topic but what brakes are you running? First thing I did after GTR purchase was to put better brakes, first trying better pads & fluid on stock rotors & calipers, then big brake kit as per avatar pic <----- Also would be interested to know what approx times you are lapping with the semis & 320 at the wheels. Last time out I ran 205kw + street rubber, next time will be on semis plus 285kw so am expecting 2-3 seconds off.
  15. sorry for the slow turnaround - deposit cash is wired and should be there by tues/wed. Narration is semislickR32 dpsit looking forward to it - can shake the car down at the JB track day in March then smash some lap records on the 12th well maybe my records anyway I don't suppose there's going to be any dorian timing on the day?

  17. I just picked my 1994 R32 GTR up from the workshop with new 2860-7s (plus lots of reliability mods like oil cooler, sump baffles, cam baffles, 52mm radiator and injectors (700cc)) and can offer some of my experience: I saved a bit of cash by going with a nistune board instead of the PFC - probably not as good if you are planning to keep modding but for the mild setup I went for does everything (and is compatible with my existing ecutalk LCD display) I had read everything on this site about the -9 vs -7 debate and had decided on the -9s, but when it came to the shop (which is a well-respected SA workshop) the mech pushed back about it and reckons he's never installed -9s on a GTR, and that the difference between a -7 and -9 would need "a perfect day on the dyno to tell the difference". As I don't have any first-and experience, putting up stuff I've read on internet forums against his years of working on GTRs didn't work - basically I folded like a little bitch on his first night in prison Going from stock turbos, 11psi @ 205kw to -7s pushing 285kw @18psi is like eating Guatamalan insanity peppers - it's bloody quick!! (but of course pretty mild by SAU standards) My advice: Go with the -9s and don't let the mechanic bullshit you into making the choice that's easy for them as opposed to what you want Enjoy whatever you get cos it will be insane (for a while)
  18. me too. dunno about the show'n'shine am booked in for the trackday - looking forward to it!
  19. Sorry for the inaction Kim I am definitely in - will send my form in to Dean tomorrow.
  20. I'm in if there's still places. And having done about 6 of these JB days they are pricey but are a good day where you'll get more tracktime than you or your car can probably handle.
  21. Have you got any pics of the DIN gauge? Is it the black-face white back-light version? also which sensors - I assume water temp, oil temp oil pressure? Cheers.
