  1. What about GTR seats into an R32 sedan. Anyone know similar the rail mounts are? cheers
  2. i did this once one day when i was bored (yes i get bored easily)... sounded fullsikwesidephat, or another words fuggen loud reality is at idle it was hunting all over the place between 450-1600RPM & you can hear it leak slightly at full load. a good way to really confuse the ECU .
  3. the 27L V12 Rolls Royce Merlin was in WW2 fighters such as the Spitfire, Mustang, etc. It was also used in tanks of the era. Rod Hadfield of the Castlemaine Rod Shop fame has spent the best part of the last couple of decades engineering a Merlin into a '55 Chev body. Apparently it quite the animal. Its appeared on TV since its been finished but I still haven't seen it. I was 15 last time I saw that car in the museum part of CRS & it was basically just a turret, chassis & engine.
  4. done about 7 years with some crappy shareware program heh heh... dodgy i was probably drunk
  5. nah, the guy is fairly tight lipped about many of the exact details. there is just a repeated idea that 'it costs alot to run this sort of gear'. titanium valves, springs & retainers. billet ally/GRP rods, 55mm billet cam, magnesium/thin wall stainless turbos... its insane i guess 'alot' would be quite an understatement RB's are nice but i wanna turbo big block!
  6. timbar32 it says 10,000RPM not 100,000RPM. Its not a turbine.... the type racing this will be used for involves a lot of runs per meet, so it has been engineered to produce this power consistantly with needing a rebuild every run. Basically nothing in the entire engine is off the shelf. Even the cam is considerably thicker than in the engine its based on. The write up on this suggests rather extreme levels of engineering. 7.2L, 4 turbos & 10,000RPM would sound unbelievable on the track
  7. Thought I'd share this engine with you... 442ci General Motors based OHV V8 - no gaskets, just heat expanding O-rings - extesive use of titanium. - fluid dynamic crank to cut through the oil easier at speed - turbos similar spec to what is found on Indy cars Capable of 10000RPM (not bad for a 7.2L engine) Early dyno run @ 25psi 1820Nm @ 7500RPM 2140hp @ 9000RPM aiming for 2800hp with the boost set at 35psi just the ticket for getting to work in my R32...
  8. R = no idea (should be H?) F = 5 speed manual
  9. do you, by any chance, have an alternator to suit an r32 as I need one ASAP cheers Ben
  10. thanks anway mate, but its gotta be in the car by sunday night bump
  11. when the alt died the car would have just been running on the battery hence running it down. but when you run a battery dead on high load then leave it a while, you'll find that it will have some charge left in it when you go to use it again. something to do with the heat created in the battery under high load reducing the chemical reactions that generate the power maybe unanimous decision so far... so anyone got an alternator that would fit an R32?
  12. the one on the right is an early R32 type M light & the one on the left is a late R32 type M light. GTR's typically get around with the same lights as the type M's the el cheapo lights look similar (but not identical) to the N1 GTR lights ie 2 squarish reflectors per side my car has 1 early light (drivers side) & 1 late light (pass side) so if anyone has the same problem but sides reversed PM me to swap to we have to matching sets
  13. as per the title i need an alternator for my R32. in sydney area only & I need one ASAP as I cant get to work without my car Cheers
  14. on the way home from work yesterday my car started to missfire slightly under load, then headlights & interior lights started to get dim, then the missfire got worse, then the HICAS light came on & steering started getting heavy, then it finally died all together in a side street i managed to pull into started it again after about 40mins & got about 1km before the slow death process kicked in again, resulting in a tow home that set me back 1 weeks rent :cuss: me thinks it might be alternator.... any other possibilities?
  15. shyte! those SYB style things are basically raw ether in a can. be carefull with that volitile idea... watched a (none too bright) guy on a orchard blow an old single cyl motor apart, & i mean apart, by adding a touch to much in to start it.
  16. cerealkilla say 42L to go 485km would be 8.66L/100km cause... 42 / 4.85 = 8.66 or 30L to go 260km would be 11.54L/100km 30 / 2.60 = 11.54 radical
  17. depends on if you count the car yards... i live on parra rd & if you count all the boys cruizin to norton st/city/stanmore maccas there would be hundreds on any given fri nite. very rare is the occasion i open my balcony door without hearing an RB go by
  18. R32 tank is 60L as far as the specs i've read. my best has been 8L/100km between Sydney & Kempsey of all places. I was happy with that as that road is anything but a constant steady speed rd. bloody Princes Hwy... city fuel economy is shytehouse weather i give it stick or cruize
  19. yeah sonic! you beat me to it spent some time looking around for the ZL1/COPO vette & camaros last night as they were the some of the hardest factory weapons ever. but, like trident, i understand the gross impracticalities of owning old metal. doesn't stop me from want to get back into an old torana tho!
  20. hwy around 8.5l/100km city around 12l/100km big difference eh?
  21. mine is manual with wires. do i need it plugged in?
  22. I have an SII R33 actuator & mount and either the water or oil lines (not both - cant remember which unfortunately) I'm in sydney tho. If you are still interested, give me a PM Ben
  23. does the std viscous diff have a finned aluminium rear cover? just wondering is all
  24. ben, checked that when i had all the rear seat parts out to run new stereo gear thru. problem appears to be the angle between the reel & runner on the C pillar. if u pull the belt out quickly, it twists. gently, it won't twist. ladies get it right, guys pull the belt to fast. to avoid me having to climbing into the boot to untwist the bloody things it looks like i'm gonna have to ban all male passengers. oh well looks like lass's only
  25. any other r32 4dr owners out there have probs with your rear seatbelts incessantly twisting with regular use? mine's been in the country since around 95 or so & i'm thinking that maybe the belt change overs they did back then weren't as well thought out as more recent ones...
