  1. Yes. Today in Sydney orange was the new white...
  2. Spotted a brand-new white R35 heading east on the Great Western Highway at Blackheath in the top of the Blue Mountains. Cool looking car.
  3. The rotary engine in early aircraft was a different animal altogether! It was an early and inefficient type of cylinder-based aero-engine, from the WW1 era, which became obsolete because of a lack of torque. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotary_engine I suspect you're thinking of the similar-looking RADIAL engines in piston-engined aircraft from the 1930s onwards. They WERE successful and reliable. But 'radial' = the arrangement of the cylinders, and had nothing to do with rotors.
  4. The exhaust could become an issue... I was tailgated by the cops for about 10 mins one night. Fortunately I guessed somehow that's who they were. (Nothing but a bright light in the rear-vision mirror.) Take care. David
  5. I'm from up the top - Blackheath. Believe it or not there's a few in these parts. An R33s2 GTS-T that seems to be owned by a young woman (who never waves...). Steve Phillips, who runs Steve's Auto Barn up here, owns an R34 GTR that he's very, very proud of. I'd recommend him if you'e looking for a Skyline-savvy garage bloke in the Mountains. And there's a White R33 that reputedly hangs out around the tyre place on Main St in Katoomba. Also, some bloke up here bought a pretty crook R33s2 from someone on this forum, I believe, which has been in and out of Steve's like a yo-yo. I've seen that loud-looking R33 GTR with the carbon-fibre bonnet and all the flames. Very Need for Speed, if you like that kind of thing. I'll look out for you. Mine's a pretty much stock R33s1 GTS-T. White, stock rims, nothing fancy. Goes very nicely, though. I'd watch out for the cops on the highway at night. They seem bored and like to hang around behind you, waiting for you to make a mistake...
  6. Nobody's done this before? Really??
  7. Description says it all really. I grabbed a second-hand pair of factory fog-lights for a R33 GTS-T Series I. They were an option: my car didn't come with that option. But the wiring's clearly there for them. The lights fit fine. But I can't for the life of me find the sockets for the fog-light plugs. What am I missing? Thanks.
  8. It was gone when I came home by the same route at about 7pm.
  9. Yes, all other things being equal, that what the insurance companies normally assume. But not always. My old family car was totalled some years ago on the Great Western Highway in the Lower Blue Mountains. I was heading east in the AM rain and a silly old bugger (not ageism: he really was!) lost patience, and simply tried to get across the highway from the Give Way sign on the left by closing his eyes and accelerating. Right across the front of me. Of course I hit him amidships with my nose. (Though only at about 10-20ks after some serious braking). About four people stopped immediately to offer me their phone numbers or wait for the cops, though. So there was never any doubt about what really happened. And the annoying old bugger went on a neg driving charge (still blaming me all the way!).
  10. I'm hoping the driver is OK. If you're on the forum, my commiserations, mate.
  11. Corner of the Northern Rd and the turnoff from the M4 at Penrith. I passed it this morning on the way to work and went 'Ow'. What time were the pics taken?
  12. I've got the same symptoms - pretty much exactly as described by Primordial above. Hoping a change of oil to the Redline may help. Would really like not to have to replace the box...
  13. Maybe somebody at the SMH was reading this forum... http://www.smh.com.au/national/teen-sellin...90731-e3cj.html The article as linked now simply describes it as a Nissan 200SX.
  14. Touche! Great thread all round, by the way.
  15. Also interested in the shocks, if that sale falls through...
  16. 'I don't want to sound rude.' LOL. Seems you succeeded mightily in achieving what apparently wasn't your object... As an aside, I actually found the 80kph for 5th gear advice very helpful.
  17. You really are a trusting chappie, aren't you!
  18. Spotted a R34 GTR (gunmetal?) heading up the GW Highway in the lower Blue Mountains tonight. We swapped the lead for quite a while as far as Woodford. Nice car!
  19. Thanks, Birds. That's all very helpful advice. Yes, 80ks at 2000 revs in 5th seems about right. And yes, the fuel consumption so far seems pretty good. I must just learn not to worry about that tacho so much...
  20. Probably depends on where you are...
