  2. Looks like it might be a bit more "piss free" than I suspected, but I'll be there. I made a vital error in judgement buying Christmas tickets for the wife without checking the date.
  3. Although IPA is mildly acidic, I'd think it would need prolonged exposure to result in any noticable copper deterioration. Another caution to note however.
  4. Uh-oh, this could get messy. drei ecken hat mein hut? I'm a possible starter. Level of intoxication entirely dependant on wifely attendance.
  5. I reckon you'll be REAL lucky to get through with that plenum sorry to say.
  6. My Uncle lives there, seems like a pretty quiet area, he's never had any trouble that I know of, other than the parking controls when Ikea opened!
  7. Stupid storms mean I have to work past lunch time today. Always the way, last day before Christmas. Bastards.
  8. -IPA has a RON of approx 118, so yes it will work as an octane booster. -It is very good as a cleaning solvent, although I'm not sure about how well it will remove deposits from inside an engine, as I'm unsure of what they are primarily composed of. It is also a solvent for rubber, so I'm not sure I'd be that keen on using it in a cars fuel system. -It is an oxygenated fuel, therefore it will make your car run leaner. -It is miscible with WATER, which is what I see as the biggest disadvantage, if left in an open container it will absorb moisture from the air, and it will allow your fuel to hold more water which isn't always the best. -If using it be careful with it, as it is toxic by inhalation and absorption. Of course all this data is based on IPA by itself, goodness knows how it will react in low levels in a fuel mixture. It is your car and you can rely on the advice of who you choose, although in this case I would advise against it's use. Let us know how you get on if you decide to go with it. chops
  9. Howie, Jazza posted this before. True to all I've ever been informed.
  10. even google will convert it for you type in 0.8 bar in psi and get this: http://www.google.com.au/search?hl=en&...n+psi&meta= 0.8 bar = 11.603019 pounds per square inch
  11. This is the biggest worry. You will get hardly anything aftermarket through once that is done. Pretty much 100% stock as a rock. Exhausts won't pass, no boost increase, pods and intercoolers might not even get through.
  12. I don't think you HAVE to, but it doesn't hurt so you can prove you sold the car if anything like speeding fines etc get racked up this weekend.
  13. That's the problem I'm faced with - it would start as a car for the Mrs, and end up something entirely different. "I'm just going to build you a nice reliable engine honey"... - enter big turbo etc etc etc and an empty bank account. ALTHOUGH, I could probably build the whole car for what it would cost me to put snails on my car, which is a plus. Ok, what do RB25DE heads run at these days?
  14. Make sure you file the disposal paperas ASAP then.
  15. Any aftermarket turbo is illegal until you prove otherwise. Sad but true.
  16. That's what I reckon, cheap fun car. It's a definite possibility.
  17. I thought it was ANDRO-0 lol.
  18. What else are the 3 of them going to go shopping in, the pug? Spotted Mel and Pawley in TTP. Also spotted Grim and his lovely lady in the Tea Tree Plus car park - I think they were wondering who the f*ck I was. They were in the RS260.
  19. Stop all the RB30 talk, I'm so tempted to buy the wife a VL wagon (she loves them) and build a RB30DET for it.
  20. She probably wouldn't forgive you if you forgot Valentines day on the 14TH and waited until the 24th too!!
  21. Torque measured on a chassis dyno is dependant on things like gear selection, dyno roller radius, wheel and tyre size, torque multiplication via converter if auto, etc etc etc - about the only thing you can compare is two identical cars on the same dyno in the same gear with the same wheels and tyres at the same stage of wear. Engine torque is a meaningful comparison, but difficult to measure or estimate from chassis dyno figures.
  22. I wasn't suggesting you didn't use them, but rather you don't take everything they say as gospel, but make up your own mind about what they've written.
  23. IMO stickers don't go on paint - ever. Even on glass I'm not a huge fan.
  24. Beware that the RAA are often very hard on cars inspection wise, which I think is good - I had a car inspected and they even commented on "wear in drivers carpet" - lol the car was like 4 years old, were they expecting new! Look at the list that they provide, and make your own mind up as to whether you think the things they find are acceptable or not. Most of all, best of luck with the new purchase mate.
  25. Wow, that's awesome that it was available. Should set of the car nicely!
