Damn :Owned: Heheheh. I reckon all that yellow space saver rice power gave me at least 20rwkw Actually I did it with my new 17" rims with, wait for it.......................................... Genuine, real, new rubber. Damn I didn't know what hit me. As soon as I got new tyres I instantly loss 30kw. It's only in the wet that I now make up that power Speaking of which I should have that video ready soon. Includes space saver action.

Hey sorry I didn't get back to you twoquik. Nothing is happening Sunday, just that I would be free on Sunday that's all. If you need a hand I can certainly help with changing plugs, fuel filter oil filter etc. I have a car ramp at my place so you can walk under the car and get a good look at things. Plus it make changin your oil a cinch. Chances are you need new plugs and/or your timing set correctly. Your timing really needs to be between 15-20 degrees. If you want to give me a buzz on 0409 156 922 Cheers, Tim

I didn't know sorry. I was rung and told about it while I was at work on Saturday. I skipped work for the arvo. Apologies, Tim

You should try using the demo on Paint shop Pro 7 or even MS Photo Editor. Usually when shrinking images (the dimensions not the file size) they become sharper because you have the same amount of info in a smaller area, hence increasing the resolution. Usually this will not drop the file size by very much if at all. The other way is to lose some quality, but because you have shrunk the dimensions down, again it shouldn't make a difference on the visable quality unless you zoom in. In fact many movies on the internet - think porn or drift - are in piss small dimensions, not because it saves on file size, but it allows them to chop out more data (that is what reduces the file size)without it affecting how it looks. Basically if you have a semi decent program (there are many freeware and cheap ones out there), you shouldn't have a problem with resizing images. Try znet or cnet or download.com Sorry to go on, probably more then you wanted, but anytime you need to be bored I'm your man. Cheers, Tim

I'm begging you please don't postpone. I'm only on holidays until mid January. If we go to this dirt track do we need a certain number? I know there is no price yet, but I am sort of thinking that it would be cheaper than a skidpan day anyway. Boxhead, your mum could always do the photography and filming Anyways - I will spread the word and get guys to confirm. Cheers, Tim

Well on Saturday I rocked up for the Barnes High Performance dyno day. First of all a big thanks to Barnesy for putting this on. Guys it was totally free. He has a proper dyno dynamics dyno that is calibrated properly plus he really knows what he's doing. Seeing my car is stock as a rock apart from a custom cat back exhaust and a slightly modified airbox I was pretty stoked when I pulled 151rwkw (will post up graph at work, cost me $25 for the printout). Some other Skylines only got 120-130rwkw which is what I was expecting. Overall it was a great day, Barnesy had heaps of commentry, tips and suggestions that weren't bullshit - plus he went from 9-5pm. I think they got through close to 100 cars. A big effort and apparently he has one every 6 months. But the best part was he got our local member for parliment there dynoed his car and put a really good spin on the whole thing. He is pushing for a circuit and skidpan on the coast. He encouraged good behaviour and even the local commodore wankers did the right thing. Hopefully it will mean a motorsport complex in years to come. Guys on the coast - drop by and have a yarn to him he is honest and knows turbo cars.

Maybe we could make it 2 weekends or a full weekend. One day on the dirt to get some practice etc up, then on to the full skidpan/lvma, the next. Personally I have been hanging out since I got my car for a wet skidpan day. Its at these events when you really learn a lot! Boxhead - have you though about getting you car trucked/towed there heheh sorry. But if you brought a mate along shotgun style you could practice your quick seat changes (also helps with those intimate moments with the ladies) so when the cops nab you, you can say your mate was/is at the wheel. What about getting those taxi guys who drive your car when you're drunk? Might cost a little though. In the end you will have to trust someone. To the rest of the QLD crew - come one guys, we only have 3 definites - we might have to get Mr T on to you fools! Let's start getting organised and helping out. EDIT - Slip if you need help with anything let me know 0409156922 - 24/7 Tim

Let us know how you go so we can all get cheap stuff hhaha. Good luck. -
Slip, you mentioned stickers being in the pipeline, I was just wondering how big they would be. I personally hate big stickers on my car, so I would be after a very small/fine non-intrusive sticker maybe even just skylinesaustralia.com or something, or SAU QLD or what ever. Are templates being made up or is it still being planned. Basically I would prefer small or short stickers to massive full screen ones. Would you be able to place up a couple of designs that you are looking at so we can give some feedback? Also does anyone have a design for flyers to hand out. I see a friggin heap of Skylines on the Coast and there is bugger all on this forum. If I had a little flyer to hand out / put under windscreen it would help get the message out in a positive professional way. Thanks all, Tim

Mr T and the A-Team rock! I even have books (yes books not comics) on the a-team. Also how good is Eddie Murphies impression of Mr T. "I'll clench up my butt cheeks and rip your co(k off!" hahahahaha. So you coming to this drift day Boxhead?

If you do a search - use the 3rd button from the right up top - for workshops or mechanics you should get a large list of places to call. You never know. Also try Nissan dealers they probably have more time than anyone, plus you may get to fang a new 350z (just dreaming mmm 350z) Also don't discount the Aussie delivered R31 skylines. They were a very good car that was extremely well built. Good fuel economy plus decent performance. Slip and a few others have R31's - there is quite a large following. Plus parts and insurance would be cheaper. Without being rude, unless you are used to powerful RWD cars, maybe look at 200sx, Silvia and 180's. I know that going from a worked Gemini and a swift GTi to a turbo skyline was a real big wake up call. I still have to give it heaps of respect. In the end it may take you more time to be able to specialise in Skylines, but these forums have almost all the info you could ever need - so working on it yourself shouldn't be a hassle. Cheers, Tim -
Chaos - we are talking more about a skidpan/drift and track day. As far as I know drags wouldn't be on the cards? As far as being shown up, great that the car can do 11's flat, but I want to see 3 back to back hairpins at 60km/hr without ever once gaining traction. That's probably the reason most people buy these kind of cars is not for straight line performance, but for handling capabilities. I think you would be surprised by the level of skill involved in not just hooking out the arse end, but in controlling it through multiple corners. I'm sure your friend is most welcome though (as long as we have spare places). On a side note I missed the last skid pan by 1 day. Even though it was on before I got my car, BSM still reckoned Mr E's car was me and that I had invalidated my warranty by taking it on a track haha.

To be honest your chances of getting an apprenticeship at a performance workshop are pretty low. I mean if you frig up on an expensive car, they are up for thousands of dollars. Plus 90% of performance workshops are flat strap - they don't have the time to look after/train a young apprentice. They are only interested in making big bucks of hotted up cars. You would be better off looking for a regular and reliable workshop near where you live. They probably have the time to train you properly plus they would appreciate your help more. Remember you are there to learn, not just to brag about what cars you have/are working on. Once you complete your training, then look at doing some volounteer work for a performance shop. They know you are a good mechanic/helper - they won't have to worry about you and you will learn and understand a lot more because you know the ropes already. Understand also that some one under the age of 18 (if you are) can cause problems with workshops insurance, they may not be legally allowed to have you in the shop. Of course you may be lucky and get into a performance workshop, but your chances are next to nicks. Please don't take this as a negative critisism - it would be great if you got into the shop of your choice - just think about it and realise that you may not get what you want. Good luck, Tim -
I am super keen. In fact I'll help others come if they need it. Come to think of it I will personally whip people into coming if we need numbers. $70 I can live with, but depending on price I'm keen for the dirt action, probably less harsh on the cars apart from mud/dirt stains etc. But I am still keen in the skidpan. Esp for a whole day. For a beginner like me either is cool, but maybe the more experienced guys want tar to cut sick on? Dunno ideas guys. Anyway if it is significantly cheaper with no rocks hell I'm up for it. I'm sure I could get about 2-3 guys at least from Sunny Coast to come down. Plus just imagine the rooster shoot we could make with fat arse tyres heheh. Like people are saying you don't need a skyline to drift - use 4wds / scoobies / go karts whatever. Any practice helps in the end. [toughtalk - Mr T]Oh and you little ***** bitches that are afraid to come cause you will look like unco's, I will personally bitch slap you in the chops with a plastic broom handle. The whole idea of drifting is unco-ness with style - that's why you need practice days[/toughtalk - Mr T] Boxhead - If it is off-street then no license should be required - getting a car there could be. Don't know about the skidpan requirements though. Can't imagine you would need you license though. Keep up the awesome work Slip. Cheers, Tim

Climate control, clock and antenna electrics
hitnrun replied to 71LLA's topic in General Maintenance
The wire may also be marked "REMOTE" from the deck (same as remote for amps etc) Most decks use a light blue wire for the remote wire. You could try tracing the wire back, it may be pinched/cut/corroded. Also as dAVE said - could the antenne motor. I would definitely check the wiring first, as your other problems were fixed with fuses, so something may have shorted out at some stage. Cheers, Tim -
Sounds like you're on the right track. I can't give you a suggestion of a workshop, but if you are handy with a socket set you could do most/all of the service yourself. 1.Your timing belt will HAVE to be changed, ask around about the horror stories if you don't. 2. You should have your water pump replaced as well. 3. Good synthetic oil/filter 4. Fuel filter code Z200 5. Check you plugs, if in good nick leave them be, if they are looking a bit worse for wear, cough up for decent platinums. 6. Getting you injectors cleaned/tested would be a good idea as they have been known to cause problems sometime (usually due to bad maintenance) You really should be able to do all this yourself very easily except for the timing belt and water pump. The reason your costs are so high is the labour involved in replacing these parts. If you can do it yourself, or even ask some guys on the forum for help (offer 'em a steak and a carton). All up should cost you max $500 including everything - so $500-700 goes on labour. Hope this helps. Someone else may have something to add? Cheers, Tim

Use the search button 3rd from the right up top. Search for surging or boost cut. I had this same problem. Chances are you need new sparks plugs and / or new fuel filter. Check your timing. Basically get a decent service done on your car. shoot me an email hitnrn@hotmail if you want more help Cheers, Tim PS if you want to rock up to the Sunny Coast on Sunday we can have a look at it for you.

I've got red/white gt badges on my car. I'm willing to swap them for a blue/white set if anyone wants to. I'm on the Sunny Coast QLD. Cheers, Tim

One thing that thermal wrapping/HPC does is to keep the heat in the exhaust. This means that the air will flow faster and help spool up the turbine quicker. That said, having higher exhaust temperatures can affect oxygen sensors and catalytic converters. You may want to investigate high temp O2 sensors. For those running full race cats, heat shouldn't be an issue, but those who have "highflow" or semi-race cats, realise that they only take so much abuse. As far as destroying exhaust, I can't see that happening, unless you already have issues with it. It may dis-colour your Stainless steel tip quicker? In the end I think Thermo wrapping is a good thing, you just need to be aware of what it does and the side effects. Feel free for anyone to add or correct me. Cheers, Tim

Looks awesome man! Let us know how it goes around the twisties

Well you'll be pleased to know I went and got 17"s today, with all new rubber, plus I whack new rubber on my old rims so I should be set for a little while. No more space savers for me.

Well today was a fantastic day, had a great time and got to meet a lot of guys and girls. Mr E put on a bit of a show, demonstrating his patented downhill u-turn skills I managed to have my tyre delaminate on the way down from the Sunny Coast I guess my burnout tyres were a little too far gone hehehe, so I went on the run only to have my tyre/s fall apart near the end. Oh Well. Still it was heaps of fun, a pity more couldn't come. Cheers for organising it, I'm up for another real soon. Tim Oh and yes Stuart and I did go home and put on both space savers on the rear. It was awesome. Instantly gave me another 50-100rwkw:uh-huh: We haven't got good footage of some space saver smoking action yet, maybe closer to Christmas. Have a great week everyone

Well not a great quality picture, as it is ripped from a video file. I'll post up the entire movie when I've finished editing it. Oh and damn your car looks/looked friggin hot Michael, I love that colour!
