  1. The GT-R has the wide wheel arches and nicer interior stock. Also the engine looks much better. GT-R is a better show car and go car...
  2. The Mines GTR is not just good... it is spectacular!:boinkcar: But enough Mines fetishism... (why did Mines_Datsun have to choose that name:rant: ) I am not so much talking about cars made to run in dyno comps. I am thinking more of cars, especially road cars, that focus on rwkW to the detriment of their performance in driving, be it road, drag, race, drift, whatever.
  3. Nice example lwells, the Mines R34 is the antithesis to the attitude I am thinking of.It is the perfect car (apart from terrible ground clearance) As the Japanese like to say that car has "total balance"
  4. Post sense not make?
  5. Moving house with a Lancer... LOL... I love it! How many trips!!?
  6. Yes and by the same token no point having a supercharged 427 V8 with 1000Nm at 1,000rpm if it all just goes up in smoke too
  7. Ohhh God there is NOTHING worse than 2JZ groupies Grrrrr
  8. I was hanging off the side of the stand at MAS to watch it
  9. The problem we have here is that most of the people here with big awkW have GT-Rs which can actually lay down the power they have. So aren't really the people I am talking about... The BMT S15 is exactly what I mean... Though that is an extreme example. Something like a T67 powered S13 with Nankan tyres on it is more like the everyday example.
  10. I think that cow is trying to hypnotise me
  11. I always regarded rice as a modification that had no benefit to (or reduces) performance... If you add a big turbo that just makes the car torch the tyres and accelerate slower then it fits my definition....
  12. You have sort of got what I mean... not quite Perhaps I should say, I am concerned that many cars are "overpowered" for their desired application or supporting components. This does not mean that I expect everyone to take their car on the track. If you want a street cruiser then that is very cool, if you want a racing car then also cool. But having driven a few cars that were "all engine" after about 5 minutes of being silly I wondered what the point was. If you can't use the power you have then I think the extra power is only there for the sake of the number.
  13. Dude you have totally (EDIT2: partly) missed my point... EDIT: Meh, my bad... I knew this thread wouldn't work out. Whore away...
  14. LOL... consider the urine extracted... or wait. No, oh dear... you're not joking? Irk... I didn't get enough sleep, people are confusing me :headspin:
  15. Haha good luck... Maybe you can mention that the M880 is Mil spec... Unfortunately I had to just flashed my hard earned $$$ Well I did the course a few years ago M800 was new then. And back then you could set the lambda value you wanted but to change the duty cycle based on that required interaction (pressing a key). Someone else asked about "autotune" but they were not keen... Vendor designed training courses do suffer from "that's not a bug, it's a feature" syndrome so it may be the case that they have added an autotune since I did my course and were just pretending it wasn't a problem. Yes... funnily enough the MoTeC course convinced me the PowerFC was a better idea LOL I still want an ADL though
  16. You can't prove a philosophy, especially one that relies on events not occuring
  17. Lately I have seen heaps of posts on various forums about 200+kW Silvias, 300+kW GTS-t's and 400kW GT-Rs... Obviously people want different things from their cars and while my ideal car would be something that could do the Bathurst 1000 with the only servicing being putting petrol into it. Other people might only want to go a ¼-mile... But having driven a 200kW S14 and VL and I realised that in both cases the chassis was completely overwhelmed by the power of the engine. I realise suspension can help a lot but if you want a car for the circuit you will probably make traction worse... I spent a lot of time (and petrol) recently getting the AVC-R on my friend's 2530 equipped GT-R to REDUCE the power as the turbos kicked in. As it was you would get 1.3bar coming in at about 4,500rpm harder than a coked up pitbull... Fun in a straight line, but around a corner it was pretty horrid. So yeah... I guess I fully understand the fun of having a car that skates around like a hovercraft as the boost kicks in. But when I see cars wheelspinning along at half track doing while 13second passes and hear drift cars on the circuit timidly cracking open the wastegate before having to back off a second later after 1000rwkW comes in I sort of wonder if people are getting their priorities a bit messed up. I am probably just old and jaded So basically my point is have people just gone dyno crazy?
  18. Motec doesn't have "autotune" but it does have "autolambda" where you can set the current load point to a preset Air/Fuel ratio. Tuning is so complicated. Manufacturers don't spend hours and hours in climate controlled dynos for their own amusement
  19. Ideally I would find a large black piece of fabric, often the front of cafes have something suitable, grab some padding and wrap myself in it. Then I would waddle towards the crowd yelling "Neeeeeeeek what are you doing, Constantine... etc..." There is one thing that all Greeks are scared of and that is their mothers
  20. This isn't EBay, I have a 2530 for sale and if you won't accept $1,300 for it I will. PM me the user's details...
  21. Drift provides the world with a similar service to that of HQ racing... To rid the world of a scourge... the scourge known as the S13 :Bang:
  22. Yeah that annoys me too, but E-brake is an American term, in the video they mix in the term "side brake" which I presume is a Japanese transliteration...
  23. LOL, there is some reassurance right there
  24. Even better IMHO would be to use a Digital Set Top box, then you can get widescreen as well... Most of them have an option to specify the video output format. Also the reception will be better, like how digital mobiles were better than analogue... Oh wait http://www.triocorp.com.au/HTN-9000.aspx More are here http://www.dba.org.au/index.asp?sectionID=18
