  1. Would do if I wasn't at my parents for dinner and getting ready for tomorrow. Where you thinking of heading?
  2. Forecast for Sunday : Cloudy with a morning shower or two. Light to moderate southwest winds. Hopefully it stays dry after the few showers, Max of 16 so may be a little dreary Called in to check on my front & rear adj sway bars today but still not in yet, I reckon they'll be in on wednesday after the long weekend. Just missed!
  3. Those brakes had better be in Jack, I've heard lots of very good things about this car and want to see it out there Hell, if you don't have brakes just go out and cruise around at 5kmph for the effect, I may even overtake you! I'm happy to turn up any time but if the weather is good I'll be getting out as early as possible I reckon By the way, I've had a mate (with his own helmet) say he wants to navigate from the passenger seat on the day, I'm assuming there's no problem with this and he won't have to pay anything? Jay
  4. Pulled it out of the cupboard and pulled the whole thing to pieces, there were some half eaten cog pieces laying around near the worm gear which may have been causing some issues. When I pulled the shell off the motor itself though it smelt burnt and looked a little black, when I last tested it everything worked but just not well, so hopefully it's still all good. Come around and grab it, if it doesn't work just shove it on the tip I did the install 3 times (what you get for not testing the strength before starting, then turning the magnetic casing upside down on my current one which made it all in reverse) so if you need a hand or you're having particular trouble with any part give me a yell. Where abouts are you located? I'm down in Kingston and can make short trips around the place atm (currently soaking up some of my 3 months time in lieu) so let me know. Jay
  5. I have a spare mechanism from when I fixed mine, but it can take hardly any weight and would need to be pulled apart to see if the stupid little plastic gears are okay. I ended up pulling the motor apart and fixing my existing one after finding the one I bought online was weak as all sh*t. I'll pull it apart tomorrow and see if I can fix it if I get time if I can you can have it for free, nice to empty the spare room a bit... The actual switch is generally a burnt out solder isn't it? If it's series 2 then generally the relay dies, and series 1/1.5 the board in the switch itself (because there is no relay) burns out. Look for cracks and little black marks
  6. I've got that front bar on my car atm (stock) and will be getting rid of it once I can find a decent 400r style front, if someone misses out. No cracks or broken tabs, but won't be available for a fair while
  7. This is going mildly off topic, and I realise that this isn't going ahead but I spent a couple of minutes properly aligning, resizing and adding to one of Autumn33's initial designs (see attached) so I thought I'd post it up. If we were actually going ahead with this at any point it'd probably be worth putting it out as a competition, as I'm sure there's a heap of people/designers who would want to have a go at this that don't check the forums on an hourly basis I'm interested as to why it's a no go though? Is it down to copyright and whatnot? Jay
  8. It's nice to hear someone say their coilovers are too stiff, some of the people I know seem to think the harder the suspension the better it is, then put the loss of traction over anything not completely flat down to their peak power figures which are only ever hit at 7500rpm that being said my suspension is floaty at the best of times, and tends to give itself over to the r33 whale concept I think the monthly idea was mostly to make it a recurring thing, there are enough super sprints and hillclimbs around the state to keep people too busy even without these track days. I'm happy for a track day with each season as I hope to do some super sprints and just normal track days myself after this initial one, which will fill in any gaps that I can afford. I do like the working bee concept though I would guess we will have to see how many people even turn up, it could still be the biggest flop in motoring history If I get a 2:00 around baski I'll do the happy drunk dance of joy, then if I get 1:50 around the same thing and so on. If I dont get a 2:30 I will be doing the sad slump of a middle aged lady who has drunk too much gin, and retiring my skyline to someone who can drive... I've never seen anyone over 2:30 yet, unless they were being towed, and even they were close
  9. Sounds like a plan, I may have a crack at this sometime tomorrow as well Jay
  10. This has to be the only build in the history of skylines where there are less gauges in the after photo How much weight did you drop when you emptied out the carpets/seats etc?
  11. I was wondering the same thing? I'm assuming individually? I decided to avoid the question and just turn up with enough cash for either in the end
  12. Hey guys, just confirming that this is going ahead? Assuming it is, but just checking as otherwise I'll need to get my arse in gear to run in the supersprints this Sunday.
  13. Wow, wasn't expecting to hear that at all... I'll spread the word As for my car, fitted a front strut brace a few weeks back and have ordered in front and rear adj. whiteline sway bars. Hopefully they're in before the 24th and I can get them installed, but somehow I think they'll miss by a few days Also looking into some QFM AR1M's as they seem pretty cheap ($238 total w/ delivery) and were highly recommended, but will need to get some better fluids into her as well.
  14. I'd be up for a working bee bi-monthly definitely, wouldn't really have any technical skills to bring to the table atm but am happy to be an extra pair of lifting/holding hands and try to learn If these track days were a regular thing I reckon a fair motoring community would build up around them at an entry level, which would be awesome
  15. I reckon I'll drop by for more super sprints later in the year, but on a budget I think I'll gain more out of a straight track day rather than a super sprint when starting. I'd love to do both, but I feel bad enough about the amount I'm spending buying random things needed for track days without the cost of two in a week I'll see how it go closer to the date though, if this falls through I'll be at the super sprints for sure!
  16. Ditto on that one Funz, if this is locked in as a definite date I'll drop the super sprints and take this day instead.
  17. Definitely in if it's on
  18. Hey Guys, Thanks for the encouragement and advice, wasn't actually expecting more than like 1 reply over the day. This is a little over the top but would feel like an ass if I didn't reply individually @Woolls I saw that it was super series rather than super sprint, but having something like that tearing up behind me on anything like a timed lap would scare the absolute shite out of me. I'd be more worried about trying to get out of the way than anything else It definitely won't be putting me off, thanks for the advice. @Zoidberg I have absolutely no idea where the f*%k rectangle came from, most of the time my hands type and my brain is just a bored onlooker. I'm a software developer by trade so am comfortable enough typing that I will actually write out entire sentences of what someone is saying to me when trying to focus on what they're saying while continuing to type out a document/code, can lead to some very screwed up paragraphs. That being said, I'm pretty sure no one randomly yelled 'Rectangle' out when I was writing that... Very interested in catching up, even if it's just to perve on how you mounted the fire extinguisher @Funz Good call on getting the F out if it's definitely on fire, I reckon I'll be putting it directly below my legs so it should be pretty easy to reach and release from the drivers position. If I have to use it on my first day out on the track it may be a while before I come back @Toffy If there's anything coming up that isn't competition, I'd definitely be up for it The main reason I'm going for the super sprints is because it's not far off, I have 2 weeks of time in lieu that I'm taking from the end of this week so it fits in perfectly for getting things ready, and I know when it's on. I'm sure there's a heap of open days and whatnot that I'm not aware of, but you need to be in on it to find out in the first place. I'd love to go to a SAU track day at Baski, if anyone is thinking of planning this let me know and I'll be there. I'm not too worried about it being a competition as looking like a granny fool doesn't bother me at all and I'm not competitive when learning, I'd much rather be consistent and enjoy myself than go flying off the first corner at full throttle If you're going to be around, or anyone else for that matter, I'd definitely be up for some pointers. @Mr. Untouchable wow, that's a lot of good info packed in there. I'll be getting a heap of things ready before the day, so I'll make a note of these and try to get as much done as possible. I've noticed the power steering reservoir before and it's sitting on it's tightest setting now, will wrap something around it to catch anything coming out. By the way, this is from ages ago but thanks for the link to the R33 power window mech on eBay, I ended up buying one. Funnily enough I ended up pulling out my existing one and pulling it to pieces to get it working again, the one I bought had weak gears that slipped on the way up and had to be helped
  19. Okay, so I've been building up a few supplies since last time (helmet, extinguisher etc) and have decided I need to bite the bullet or I'll never do it. I was thinking of my first day being the 17th of this month (Supersprints at Baskerville with MGCCT/MCCT) which gives me exactly 2 weeks to get everything ready to go. I was wondering is this a good event to start at, or is this a bit more serious than I realise? I read through the documents on the MCCT website and I think I have most of what I require, but have to admit the 10 car limit at Baskerville scares me a tiny bit, I've seen it with up to 3 which seems like a nice space between cars, but 10 at a time seems more like a race than a time trial? I was quite happy with the whole idea until I came across this video... where I decided some people are a little bit more serious than I am and would most likely get annoyed with my grandma driving skillz. Interested to hear from anyone who has done one of these events before The one thing I have left to do (other than a bonnet restraint, blue rectangle and taping the lights) is securely mounting the fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. I'm looking at using the driver seat bolts for this, but does anyone have any better ideas or suggestions? Also, if there is anyone around Hobart that wouldn't mind taking a quick look over the car on the days leading up to the 17th it'd be awesome, could drive around to wherever for like a 5 minute look over. My main concern is getting worked up about the day, turning up to scrutineering and be refused because I misunderstood a regulation Thanks, Jay
  20. I'm pretty sure this cars day went something like this: 1. Off 2. Warm up lap 3. Limiter 4. Limiter 5. Limiter 6. Go home time Sounded awesome and the engine definitely looks the part (thanks for leaving the bonnet wide open, had a good perve). Interested to see exactly how you mounted your fire extinguisher, it's exactly where I was planning on putting mine Oh, and how'd those sway bars feel? Any adjustments on the day?
  21. Holy jesus that's one sexy looking engine bay... I'll be dropping in to the drift festival for a few hours today, keep your bonnet open and I'll come and have a looksie. Good luck with the competition, hope to see it in action! Jay
  22. If you end up grabbing it and turn it into a track only car I'd be very interested in hearing details about the build, shove up a build thread somewhere or something Either that, or take your land rover out, but give me some warning because there's no way that much body roll should go unfilmed Jay
  23. Hey mate, looking good. Very interested in seeing the outcome Have you driven it much with the whiteline sway bars on? I'm looking at grabbing some of these myself but have been struggling to find any decent reviews for R33's. Also, what're you thinking of for front/rear strut brace? Jay

    Track Day

For those of you who didn't see the shaw brothers onevia crash, here's what's left over.. Supposedly hit the tire wall and rolled, though didn't see it myself, this is when you're bloody glad you have a sturdy cage I guess. Jay
  25. I ended up getting the large, the medium fit alright but would have been annoying over time I reckon. What are you planning to take out on the track now that you've sold your R33, have you found a replacement already?
