  1. OOOOOH dear, Kel has no need to be quiet! Poatina will be awesome, Best of luck Ben and your partner in crime, I'm sure you guys will have a fun run to the top
  2. Thanks Woo! Was a tad disappointing to have a simple issue put us out of the running so early in the event, but we still managed to have fun and felt fortunate that we were able to rejoin. After getting back into the event on stage 4 we decided not too push to hard as there was no point in risking a trip into the trees. Come sunday when Mr Ayers got back into the fray we both came to an agreement that we would hold our own personal contest with the loser to be the buyer of beers, this was the carrot that did the trick and I believe we managed to come away 1 second victors! It's amazing how this sprint event gets so much faster each year, we made up almost 1.5 minutes on last year (without pushing too hard on Saturday) and I believe that with that extra pace we may have still struggled to finish on the podium given the stage times set by the front runners, hats off to everyone, they set some impressive stage times. This was going to be my last rally as I was going to head down the circuit racing path, but after a missed opportunity due to a $2 part fail and being reminded yet again that the thrill factor from tarmac rally eclipses anything that circuit racing offers, I may have to come back for another shot! My poor old car is getting a little tired (it was down 3psi on boost all weekend) and had a bad case of turbo wear last circuit meet. It might be time for a freshen up. Looking like I might be heading back to school for the remainder of the year so TT will be out, hopefully we can make another comeback ready for TWP 14. Oh.....you are spot on about having the car in one piece, I'm not exactly sure how it would have played out after the mechanical issue and the 20 minute penalty, but I'm sure a point would have been attempted to be made, that possibly may not have ended well !!
  3. Going to concentate on the circuit stuff I think Blaise, although it looks like I could be taking the year off work and heading back to school, which will mean a year off from any events. Love the tarmac rounds but the costs of even doing the 2 day events are astronomical compared to running circuit racing (plus a whole lot more unforgiving in the event of unforseen errors)!
  4. TWP for me, then retirement from tarmac rally. See you in a few weeks Ben & Damo
  5. Hillclimbs are easy on your car....until you leave the course unintentionally! Plus the launch tends to be rather hard on clutches.
  6. Powerplus isn't immune to gumming and fouling Damo, have seen identical fuel pump and injector issues with cars running both racefuels and powerplus E85. The general consensus was to not leave it sitting in the car for prolonged periods and to flush the system with 98......although I am guilty of leaving the car sitting unused for months with E85 in the tank. I was always under the impression that the consistency of drum derived fuel was so minor that a flex sensor would have little effect, it was more suited to road cars running pump E85 (which varies dramatically in octane content)? Heard nothing but good reports regarding the martini 116 E85 in terms of blend consistency and being "gum free" although it is nearly $1.00/l more expensive.
  7. Looking good Burgz....... Don't count the $$$, it gets depressing rather quickly!
  8. Go and see Luke at Tas performance warehouse Peter...he has the window net release kits, they are bloody expensive though for what they are (and a pita to fit).
  9. Yeah going to have a run Ben, although it will be rather timid I feel... never turned a wheel at Symmons before so intend on playing it on the cautious side!
  10. Pull your finger out! How did you go with the cage quote? He going to start on it soon?
  11. I would but still not quite ready to hit the track, one point to note that this day is not solely a "test and tune" day, it is in fact the charity kids ride day, which would be my only reason for attending. Having done one of these days before, there is nothing more rewarding to bringing a smile to the faces of some very sick children.
  12. Did you get rid of this Pete? I would gladly purchase it if you still have it, I run both my cars on 10-60.
  13. No, that was the Cygnet stage. Dover claimed the 2 cars at TWP.
  14. A fair bit of deceleration will be in order for that first crest....or run the risk of ending up in orbit!
  15. Yes Holwell certainly looks interesting! There entry onto that straight is very fast, so no doubt all cars will be pinned in top gear for some time before hitting that big crest!! I take it you had a run at Baskerville on Saturday Ben? I passed you at Kempton, I was heading north for recce. Hope to finally have the car back and put in some time at Basky myself over the Easter break.
  16. Eagle plastics, Elizabeth St North Hobart.
  17. Another vote here for Gt Garage, Nick has done a faultless job on my car time and time again.
  18. Agreed Burgz I entered the Highclere hillclimb a couple of months ago, Eddie put it over me by nearly 2 seconds- most of which I attributed to it being his local stomping ground. Come TWP and Dover reverse (which is my home town and I like to think I know the road rather well) Eddie proceeds to tear 3 seconds of my run....so much for my local knowledge theory He drove the wheels off that thing, any rumours of cheating etc are unfounded garbage and as Burgz said, from sore losers.
  19. Thanks for the kind words Benny and Blaise, had a fantastic event and really surprised how well we fared considering it was the first real drive since the off last year. As mentioned previously, the pace for EM was blistering and Matty Rickards certainly unleashed right from the word go. Tony Warren had only finished his car in the eleventh hour and went into the event with little to no testing, although he was still surprised at the pace Matt was setting. Considering the amount of bad luck he has had in the past with mechanical issues I could think of no one more deserving of the win, he is a gun behind the wheel and it was fantastic to see him finally reap the rewards. I have heard a few rumors from some of the modern crew voicing the familiar "cheater emo" chant due to 4 EM cars finishing within the outright top 10, Rickards times must have left a few in awe April won't come round fast enough, although we are only doing rookie I will be ticking the days off the calendar in anticipation!
  20. Seems to be the norm for High Country, we saw quite a few doing the same in 2010.
  21. Mainly the front end I think, pretty sure it was decked out with cup car parts for THC, but was invited to run the car as is.
  22. My money is on 2 white RS Evo 7's being 1/2. Reliability is the only thing that has kept Matt off the podium, quite sure that won't be an issue for him this event.
