  1. any idea what the limitation on the cf cards are? i loaded about 13gb worth of songs onto a 16gb cf card. the player can on see the first 37 folders other than that, it works great btw.. instant load just like the hdd. no waiting for discs to spin up.
  2. great. thanks mate. i called up earlier this afternoon. i spoke to vaughn who wasn't confident in doing a v36. but he quoted approx $200 ($180+$20) for the remote and key. says they'll need to order the keys from japan. but i will need to bring the car around to plug into their computers to see if they'll "talk" to each other. will confirm they can program it first before i spend the cash to order one. thanks very much for your help!!
  3. Did you only give them your original remote/key? Nothing else like Id tags or a third (valet?master?) key?
  4. may i ask which dealer that was as i also need to get a new key made up for my v36 is it the same process for determining the code on the v36 as it is for the v35? (contact nissan japan for instructions on getting the serial, send serial to back, receive the code, buy key, cut and recode) thanks for your help.
  5. Nismo? Impul? .. Now IPL? Looking forward to seeing what they come up with
  6. thats good to know.. my search for 20s continues. its a hard decision. especially with some of the points you've given me
  7. loz, i'm so happy i could cry. thanks so much for posting this up.
  8. ok, the compliance shop f**ked up then. 1. they put down the wrong details regarding your wheel size. you are correct. v36 type sp coupe have 19s on them as stock. they have mucked your paperwork and put on the wrong placard. 2. part of compliance requires you to change the hid to halogens. the compliance shop obviously didn't do that. the compliance shop has mucked up on both accounts. fail. you should get them to rectify. it's not hard to do it yourself, but since you paid good money for it, you shouldn't have to.
  9. sedan or coupe? coupes come in stock 19s, sedans come in stock 18s. mine is a sedan. who is doing your compliance? if they are stock rims, i don't see how it would have any compliance issues. might be harder to get the right tyre placard. got pics of your rims/car?
  10. i definitely went out in a coupe (very squashy), but it could have been 2003. i was in malaysia in 2001, 03, 05, 06 etc... it was one of those years.
  11. my first experience with the v35 was in 2001 when i hopped into a brand new impul coupe at a malaysian dealer. i was absolutely blown away with this car. the stylin, the handling, the power. i honestly thought it was to be the next gtr. so suffice to say, i think very highly of the v35. but nine years on, it don't feel it has aged as well as the 350z. the car is starting to date in my eyes. so there was no doubt in my mind that the v36 was the car to go for when i purchased in april. in addition, i was looking to buy a sedan, not a coupe - all the more reason to go the v36. now that i have had the car for a couple of weeks, i definitely have no regrets. the car is smooth to drive and handles very well for it size. it really is up there with the europeans in my opinion - in quality, looks and feel. then there's the power.. the v6 powerplant is magnificent. my only nit pick is probably the interior. whilst the feel is definitely of high quality, it is perhaps too simplistic and plain. i think i could summarise the v36 (sedan anyways) with one word - civilised. the brutal gut-wrenching monster they call a skyline of yesterday is gone. left behind is a matured grown up car with manners.
  12. finally picked up my skyline this week, roadworthy'd and rego'd. ended up going for cruise down the great ocean road today and took some happy snaps.. ..what do you think? been getting lots of looks this week. i reckon some 20s, lowering springs, black plates and de-badging wouldn't go astray.
  13. Don't know if this is a silly question or not but don't the compliance workshops change the important fluids for you as part of compliance? I took delivery of my v36 this week and the compliance workshop changed oil, oil/air/fuel filter, brake fluid etc.
  14. mr postman rocked up with a package this week.. by one of the more recognised workshops.. unpacking begins.. bit dissappointed these weren't wrapped in plastic bags. who knows how long they'd been on the shelf. as the colour shows, they've dried out a bit.. and, less interestingly.. all this and the car hasn't arrived yet. come on, how long does it take to deliver a car from brisbane to melbourne?!?
  15. invest in a lock up garage? *ducks for cover*
  16. in case i don't nod at any of you when i get my skyline.. *nod* *nod* *nod*
  17. i'll take it.. but i can't send pm. wanna pm me your contact details?
  18. this is to james.. sorry mate, i don't have enough posts to reply to your pm so i am posting here. the stock rims on the sedans are actually 18s, not 19s like the coupe. the rims themselves look like these: when i get my new rims, yes, i would consider selling them if you are interested.
  19. Sux to hear mate. But I think crash statistics plays a big factor in their assessment. More Vs on the road is probably resulting in more accidents. The fact that they are becoming cheaper is probably making them more accessible to younger folk as well - resulting in (statistically) more accidents. This makes the model more risky, commanding a higher premium. Having said that, 90% increase is huge. Perhaps it pays to shop around. If it makes you feel any better, my partners 10kw yaris costs 1300 per year to insure - 28yo female driver, no tickets, no accidents
  20. i use both valvoline and nulon injector cleaners for many many years now. tbh - i have not ever noticed a difference. having said that, i have been using them every 10000km since new so perhaps injectors have not had a chance to gunk up enough for the cleaners to make a difference.
  21. thanks for the link. thats a great looking website. i couldn't find anything under g37 sedan, but i did find a couple of 19s under g35 sedan. your set up must look awesome. i can't believe how wide you've gone - 2inches over (my) stock!! i'd love to see some pics if you have them. also, do you have a (4 door) sedan or the coupe?
  22. hey all, my v36 sedan is currently at the compliance workshop so it won't be long now - yay! in the mean time, i am trying to organise some new rims. it's a my2007 type sp so the stock rims are 18x7.5 (FR) and 18x8.5 (RR). my questions are: - any ideas what i could go comfortably up to? - will 20s be too large? are tyres easility available? - how wide can i go? - will i need different widths to match? eg 8.5 fronts and 9.5 rears any help would be appreciated. actual experience would be even better. thanks for reading. ...sykryd
