  1. being an auto i would run maybe a 20 front and 34 rear, they should close enough to even and pretty much flush with the body. unless someone has the exact measurement for how much wider the rear track is. correct me if im wrong but i think GTR 17"s are 17x8.5 +25?
  2. i notice that there is very little mention when people say "ive got 20x12"s with +18 offset and they're sick as" how how far they sit out the guard or if they still flush and MORE IMPORTANTLY wheather its an AUTO OR MANUAL! Auto's have a much wider rear track than the fronts, so if you want them both to sit flush WITHOUT SPACERS you will need a low offset front (+20 to+34 would be ok) and a HIGHER offset in the rear (+35 to +42) thus meaning you wont be able to rotate your tyres unless you get them stripped off and fitted to the opposite rims. this is based on a 8-9 inch wide rim, diameter wont affect this. the wider the rim goes the lower the offset will need to be because you'll very quickly run out of room between rim and suspension but have all the room you like outside the guard (within reason). depending on weather you have bigger brakes or coilovers this may also affect the desired offset you want to run. If you have a MANUAL (factory RS4-S or RS260 and not a conversion) then the track is pretty much identical front to rear and depending on the look your going for anthing from a +18 to a +35 will fit and clear standard suspension. when i got my RS4-S it had 17x8 with a +42 offset, the rears were very clearly fouling the struts (hicas didnt help). now i have 18x8" with a +34 offset. this offset clears everything easily and sits roughly where the standard C34 wheels do. i have plans to have it riding quite low in the future and with this offset i wont be fouling the guards. according to my C34 tyre placard it says the OE fitment tyre is a 215/50R17 which is a 646.7mm OD, a 235/40R18 is 645.2mm OD which is near identical. My speedo is also out 12-15kms for anything over 100kmh. a 245/40R18 as already brought up will correct for this and is 653mm OD which is less than 7mm larger than the OE fitment tyre and a legal tyre size for a c34 (OZ legal limit is upto 15mm larger and 26mm smaller than largest OE fitment). (edit: not sure if wider track is on all auto c34 stageas or just auto AWD c34stageas) @pipster11 = +1 @lilcrash, have you tried swapping your wheels from front to back so instead of the front sitting in and the rears sitting out they both sit flush? (if yours is an auto of course, if not they would be worth selling to an auto owner)
  3. cheers chuckie. might i say those braided lines look the business, i guess the rubber lines would have done the job for the first 10 yrs of the cars life but id imagine mine are fairly well toast by now. i think i might save my coin and get GTT calipers with braided lines and some dba/rda slotted rotors and EBC greenstuff pads cos ive had a good run with them and they arent anywhere near as dusty as some. if i end up turfing my SMIC you rekon it would be worth running some ducting from the front bar ends to the brake calipers/rotors? just something home job nothing to overboard.
  4. i put slotted rotors, EBC greenstuff (6000?) pads on my xtrail that had more go than standard and go driven harder than a 4cyl should. dont get me wrong they were 100% better than standard and it pulled up heaps better but my rotors had a blue tinge and surface cracks like crazy. i wish i had a bigger rotor option but only thing i found was a 2k 6or8spot front upgrade from k sport. if were talking about more surface area then why not "upgrade" to drum brakes? its not only about friction material surface area but braking efficiency etc. i rekon fitting the brake stopper is a good idea but pad and lines may be a great upgrade for some but insufficient for other depending on how the car is driven or what the car is used for. at the end of the day its driver preference, what might be the ideal setup for some might be "this drives like shit" to another. fair call? @chuckie - why would brake calipers/hubs need to be tapped out when for s2 C34 the R34GTT calipers (NOT R33 GTR) are a direct un-modified fit? (apart from rear backing plate and possibly using the skyline brake lines). and if the R34 GTR brembos are a direct bolt on upgrade for R34 GTT then why not a direct fit for S2 C34? if someone then went for R34 GTT calipers all around and then went for some slotted rotors and EBC pads to suit their application, would they not be better than the standard brakes with the same pad/rotor combo? (genuine questions)
  5. righto, so R34GTT 4 spot fronts fit S2 stagea fronts without modification. now my question is, R34 GTR brembos are a direct upgrade for a R34 GTT, now if i assume correctly then given the right wheel combo then R34 GTR brembos are a direct bolt up to our S2 Stageas? can anyone tell me if the wheel clearances are the same or the GTR brembos are slightly bigger? (my wheels have "brembo clearance" but still unsure on fitment)

saw a standard looking silver M35 at the lights in kambah yesterday, i waved at the bloke when he stared drivin past but didnt even get a raise of the eyebrows back. mighta had an exhaust
  7. @ KIWIRS4T - series 2 RS4-S 's have the same track front and rear where as the autos have wider rear track. i put 18z on mine about 2 months back, they are a tiny bit too small for my liking but have a baby on the way and dont wana comprimise ride too much. mine are 18x8" ET +34 they clear everything (and have brembo clearance for future brake upgrade) but arent quite flush with the body (they sit in alittle bit) but if i slamm it down the track they will tuck in the guards with plenty of clearance. id go for 19z if you can otherwise 18z for sure. without going for the "stance is everything" look with wheels 2 inches out the guards and a 215 tyre stretched on to a 9.5 wide rim then i would aim for a +28 or 30 in an 8' to 9" wide
  8. +38 is too high for a 9" wide IMO. id go a +28 / +30 or so. i pulled 17x8 +42 off my RS4S because they were clearly fouling the struts in the rear

pulled up beside a white RS260 C34 (had autech kit? and RB 26 ?? plates) with biggish wheels, lowered with a cannon tonight about 6:30 at the lights on the highway going towards jerrabomberra. gave a wave and he looked at the car and im thinking "faaarrrrk my stagea must have a lift kit its sooooo high and my brake calipers look so tacky (painted black with nissan stickers on them when i got it). both gave it abit on take off and he zoomed off in to jerra.
  10. yeh your right. maybe next time il say im not willing to share that information over the phone.
  11. just cars called back today. apparently its a scam running outta brisbane somewhere and its the same group of con-artists that did an AMII home insurance scam and got busted in 2005. They mainly targeted WRX and Supra owners (LOL) but there was a handful of stageas called too. (side note: when my bank calls me (NAB they ask for DOB and address to confirm its me) nah AMII is just cars parent company (although your no claim bonus doesnt carry over from ammi to justcars, bastards)
  12. ok well, i told my gf to call justcars hotline today and play dumb and ask for an insurance quote for our stagea and he said yep no probs, what model, modified? etc etc and then said the price we are paying now, and then my gf said so theres no issues because i had a call from X lady yesterday about you guys putting the price up and he put her on hold for 15 mins and then came back and said im putting you though to our regional manager.... the manager then explained that they're database had been hacked and info had been stolen but aparently the only info taken was very few numbers and car models (04 xxx xxx - nissan stagea) they were waiting awhile to see if anyone was affected and afew have come forward with the same story and they are sending out letters (not sure if its just the affected or everyone). when we spoke with the lady who CLAIMED to be from justcars she left a direct number to call her back and said call this number not the direct justcars hotline, my gf mentioned this to the manager who then told her not to call the number and he didnt want to give her any info on who these people were and why they called etc and said he would call us back tomoro. so im guessing these people could be theives calling with the number and car model they have saying "hi im calling from justcars how are you? can i confirm you name and address please?" (bamm now they know your name and where the car is kept) then might shit on and get more info (like what brand is your immobilsier?) and then 2 weeks later you car is gone. (note: only name was given to caller not address, she asked us to call her back and give her our address if we wanted details/forms sent out) or they could be another insurance company trying to steal customers? be careful with your info SAU
  13. wow i think im really getting F'd in the B. Looks like il be hastlin' some insurance jokers tomorrow, cheers all for the input
  14. i think this is what il do tomoro, also she said "and we've got listed here that your car is completely standard apart from wheels and an aftermarket turbo timer?", i was like yep thats it, she also was trying to put me onto 3rd party fire and theft which is heaps cheaper but i only get 10k if the car is written off if stolen or torched and i can add extras like wheels etc at smaller costs (im getting mailed a list of "mods" and the addition costs of adding them to a 3rd party fire and theft policy. im paying $1720 a yr for 2 drivers under 25 for full comp. my premium is $1500 and hers is $1200 (ive had my license suspensed for speeding when i was 17)
  15. i did my own alignment at work on a 4wheel aligner. my C34 is SKY HIGH, can fit my fist above the tyre front and rear yet it still had 2* neg camber on rh rear and 2*35' neg camber on lh rear. i got them both about .25* lower with the eccentric adjuster but it clearly needs the aftermarket arm with tie rod style adjusters (13deg of ajustment? instead of .50* with the standard ecc bolts). it was also toe-ing out overall front and rear and given the negative camber it explains why the tyres i got it with were trashed on the inside edge. after i fitted my new wheels and tyres i put about 0.7mm toe in on each side in the rear, and about 0.5mm toe in each side on the front.
  16. well that sucks, im pretty sure NRMA said to my partner they dont touch imports( edit: we're under 25 and its an import) and why would just cars call when i started my policy in november too? im 25 in april so that will classify me as a mature age driver too (apparently age doesnt mean shit too just cars though)
  17. Got a call today from J*ST C*RS insurance (aka AMI*) saying that lately given the amount of stageas stolen lately they have to basically double my current insurance policy. The woman i spoke to was very helpful and basically said that her company doesnt want to insure them so will just raise the cost of insurance on them so high no one will want to get coverage through them. she also hinted at the fact that are stolen and used for their size and speed as couriers for illegal stuff. Anyone else get a call today/lately in regard to this? originally my partner called sh*n*ons but they said sorry love but we only cover motoring enthueists (which i am but i didnt have time to call them, may have to now).

  19. how much you looking for the lot? will you freight?
  20. hey mate, still got the the whole brake setup available. pm?
  21. Chasing some R34 GTT front brake calipers, would prefer rotors aswell. also if you have rear calipers to match that would be even better.
  22. only had the beast (bog stock '99 RS4-S with 235/40R18's @41psi and 98 RON) for 4 weeks now but my worst tank was 420kms (first tank we used, on bald 235/45R17's at 32psi) i just drove to sydney and did 120kms smashing round town, then drove canberra to sydney about 115/120kmh in 5th gear with A/C on and off, no cruise and just stomping it abit for hills and overtakes and then got to sydney city and then on the way home i had a 1/4 tank left got a chunk down the freeway and the light flashed twice and then i filled up showing 560kms on the tripmeter and coulda gone more but didnt wana risk the next servo stop.
  23. faaaaaaaark the clip of that stagea is crazy. its like the clip of the wheelie school bus, its awesome and stuff knows how ya get something that heavy to move that quick
