  1. ROM tuning should be freely available by the time you are ready Stan. It is a much better solution when it works.
  2. It's all the same to them. NSW Club members get 10% discount.
  3. $110k in Aus but they didn't sell very well. They were down well into the $90's as they tried to shift them.
  4. All the information you guys need is already on here. For a GT-RS or GCG highflow you will need injectors, fuel pump, probably a fuel regulator, full exhaust, high flow panel filter or pod in a box, some sort of engine management and modification or replacement of the AFM to turbo pipe which will suck closed at this power level. A GT-RS is a slight step up from the GCG HF. People have achieved 300rwkw with cams. If you high flow an R33 turbo you will not get as much power as a highflow of the R34 turbo as the exhaust housing is bigger on the R34. An alternative is to put a VG30 rear housing on the R33 turbo. I've got 480cc Nismo injectors. I don't know/remember what Bass Junky has used. Also, did you go to Z32 AFM Bass?
  5. Everyone seems to say that the turbo is a mismatched turbo at the best of times. Quite laggy. On an RB20 I imagine it would be even worse. There are numerous turbos out there that would be better.
  6. It is grey imports nathan. I'm not sure oz. I'm waiting on something else to see if I can go or not. Definitely not driving as car has no engine atm.
  7. We rate it as a good comprimise. An upgraded turbo needs supporting mods like injectors, fuel pump etc. to be used properly. Pick a power figure then pick a turbo to suit. You don't want 250rwkw with a 2835ProS because you are wasting the turbos top end and therefore introducing needless lag. But if you can get 250 with a GCG highflow without getting out of its efficiency zone then you have chosen the right turbo for your required power. (And saved yourself a big pile of money in the process:D)
  8. GTR's have a different setup and so this is not an issue for them. I had issues at 228rwkw and had to replace the pipe.
  9. Item: Stock GTR Rods from R32 Location: Sydney/Canberra Item Condition: Perfect Reason for Selling: Found out I already have GTR rods in my engine Price and Payment Conditions: $300 Contact Details: pm or email bob at estc dot net dot au Came out of a perfectly working RB26 and I was going to put them in my RB25 but it turns out that the NEO RB25 already has them standard. These would make a great upgrade for RB25 rebuild. Much cheaper than new rods and nice and strong.
  10. Passengers are the instructors. Do you mean she wont drive your car on the skid pan alone or she wants to be passenger while you drive?
  11. Part of the reason why we are not going to push for a date this year is that a number of entrants have pulled out leaving us with around 30 of a minimum 40 entrants and not very long to get the rest. Also WSID are yet to provide an answer to my request for a relaxation of this new rule on cars faster than 11.000. In fact I still don't understand how they can justify their stance given that these cars have previously been allowed and all they have come up with so far is that these cars 'are full blooded race cars' or something like that. Firstly this rule excludes some of our club members, secondly it takes away some of the attraction of the day. I mean, sure we all want to go and race but we love to see two.06l smashing some 10's down the strip. It's part of the enjoyment of the day. The other thing is that there are other club events to organise like the christmas party and observation cruise, skid pan day as well as a newsletter to get out and various other things. I just don't have time to stuff around with this any more at the moment. (Not to mention my work being very busy this time of year and the engine I've got to put in my car shortly.) Better to start fresh next year I think.
  12. Check how much meat is on the pads and if there is plenty take it for a good thrash lots of really hard braking, maybe down a mountain road. That should fix it.
  13. I will be fitting the Tomei Tybe B Poncams which are 260 degrees both sides and 9.15 lift. This will lower my dynamic compression ratio a little and hopefully make it a little more resistant to detonation. I don't know anything about the VCT. As for cam timing, all I know is that adjustable cam gears have been proven not to work on the NEO. Bass - maybe GCG are making better turbos than they think because I had 228 at 0.85 bar, no cams and auto. One dyno operator reckoned that was close to 250 in a manual although I think the R34 auto seems to be a less lossy transmission than some. It makes me wonder if Sydneykids GTT had a turbo with different specs (ie GCG are doing them different nowadays) or that it had a thicker head gasket in place before he saw it because with the same cams it takes an extra 0.5 bar to make not that much extra power. And let's not forget the reputable workshop who told me not to expect more than 220 at the limit of the turbo. Methinks some people have an agenda. Here are some photos my engine builder sent me last night.
  14. Ok I just heard from WSID and they will give us a refund in full although they appear to be hinting that we are not welcome back without saying it outright. I'll give them a little while to calm down and then see what we can do about a date next year.
  15. Stock compression wasn't measured. Blew it - http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...topic=87738&hl= Can't rely on the availability of Optimax 100 just yet. Bass junky with the same setup to what I will have (ie cams and turbo) could only put 0.9 bar into his engine but got great power there so I thought that with a little less compression I might be able to squeeze in the extra boost to make up for lower CR plus a little more for happy days. Some pics to come.
  16. This is my thread for the things I find out as my engine gets rebuilt. I blew the ringland between the 2nd and 3rd rings in no.6. All the other pistons were pitted etc. The rods are indeed the same as GTR rods (anyone want to buy the set I bought in case they weren't ) It appears that the head uses quite a different design than previous RB25's. More details to come. It uses a RB26 style oil pump but retains the short drive on the crank like early RB26's and all RB25's so I'm going to try to source a Jun crank collar. At this stage I'm thinking of 8.8:1 compression ratio to give me a bit of safety with the tune but hopefully not losing too much in the way of response or power. I've had everything from 8.2 to 9+ recommended to me which has been confusing. Removing the engine wasn't too hard with the help of Duncan and Ed. Thanks guys. I think that's it for now.
  17. haha thanks greg. I couldn't find it.
  18. Sounds good Laurie. Paul - I think your first comment was wrong; not wrong to make, wrong in fact. You are of course entitled to your opinion. I am perhaps a little sensitive because I put in a huge amount of effort for no reward, and I 'm not saying you or anyone else is unappreciative of that, but criticisms don't hit lightly in that situation. There is no need for any of us to bicker. I stand by my decision as the right one in the circumstances and I know that I have many people behind me in this regard. Let's all look forward to the next one. As for letters to WSID. Let's wait a little longer for a response from WSID and go from there. Fatz - if I had an engine I'd be there. Charlie - Either way the cancellation charges were not due. That is the issue here. I was told that until the first car races down the strip we had not spent our money. If we had waited longer there would have been more charges attributed to us although I didn't know that at the time. If I had known that they would try to charge us that money I would have cancelled at 7am instead of 9am which would have reduced the charges by about $1000 but I suspect would not have reduced the money Paul spent. John from WSID told me that there was enough misty sort of rain at several times on the day to indicate that had we decided to race it would have been a virtual washout due to stoppages while they redried the track so no matter which way you apply hindsight, it was still the right decision. Anyway, cheer up people. We haven't given up on motor racing kind of fun yet.
  19. Someone on here was selling one of these the other day but I can't find the thread now. Does anyone have one they have decided not to use or something? Just found out the NEO RB25 uses an RB26 style (might be exactly the same - not sure yet) oil pump but has the short drive on the crank like older RB25's and early RB26's. Thanks.
  20. FM radio is about 2/3 of the quality of normal cd audio. The first thing you lose is the depth of the bass when you transmit in this manner. Basically the transmission leaves out bits. All you have to do is increase the bass on your eq or whatever you use for that. Some head units can have different settings for radio and cd.
  21. I have a fujitsubo cat back and CES split dump/front pipe. Nice and quiet. Doesn't seem to be too restrictive at all.
  22. Both turbos are ball bearing. R33 series 2 and R34 both have nylon comrpessor wheels. R34 also has more torque. R33 is easier to mod because more people have done them and because there are heaps of good quality second hand parts out there for them.
  23. I had 189rwkw with my R34 stock cooler but that was auto and 12 psi. I don't think it's very safe to go much above that, in fact I did blow my stock turbo there. Even with a bigger turbo you will need more cooling of the air so best to get a bigger cooler then. People do say that the stock AFM is good for 220rwkw but it is only a rough rule of thumb. I have seen more. Plenty of people get there with stock injectors too although I think they usually need an adjustable fuel regulator and definitely a bigger fuel pump.
