R34 Gtt Variable Miss...? Help And Advice Please.
Abo Bob replied to markimak's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
Most people stuff around and end up replacing them all. -
If anything it has appeared to me that they can handle less boost. There's not enough hipo NEO's to be sure though. All the ones I can think of have cams as well.

R34 Gtt Variable Miss...? Help And Advice Please.
Abo Bob replied to markimak's topic in Engines & Forced Induction
I'm 95% sure you need new coilpacks. The symptoms are the same as mine and many other R34 owners. See it too many times. -
I watched the 92 race a couple of weeks ago. The only controversy was that it wasn't a Ford or Holden that won. It was completely clear going by the rules that the Skyline was the winner. No doubt at all.

So is it possible for someone to check some part numbers in FAST for me or is that another thread?

Thanks Jerry. I don't recall my old auto (R34) locking up in 2nd but it definitely did in 3rd and 4th.

I've been noticing people on the forums with the bosch pumps failing more regularly in the last 12 months or so. Nismoid is right about them being in a lot of cars in the first place though. Get the Nismo one, sounds like a space ship. I want to get one just for that reason.

I think I can guess who told you that. You certainly can't get 230rwkw from a stock turbo, let alone easily. Also I don't see why you should have to wear a blown engine if you give it to a workshop to tune and they blow it while tuning it. They should know what they're doing and not blow it. That's as long as they are doing it their way. If they are doing something you told them to do, like put more boost than they recommend, then that's different. That said. Whack the turbo and other bits on and give it to CRD. Tell them you don't want to blow it up and they will look after you.

That was me in the 34 running 13.1 I didn't see any r33 gtr's but I saw 3 or 4 r32 ones. One guy ran 11.1 a couple of times. Nice rev limiter launches. Saw MR 32 running a 12.7 in his 32 GTR and Jas finally getting that 13.9!!! Yay!

"We have decided to can this project due to the attitudes of some of the forum members ..The deal would involve a full plenum install including piping and 5 - 10 dyno runs at the end of it all . Injectors and throttle body remain . Dyno next door and premises is protected by shot gun . Engineers work on all cars - no apprentices , hence no damage . All our work has full factory guarantee with not one come back in over 12 years ." Get stuffed you sook Alex. RRP $1195 minus $600 "to recover material costs ( alloy , machining , silicone and clamps etc )" = $595 to cover labour and $2mil in equipment. You were going to have to sell over 3300 and work for free just to cover your costs. Don't go blaming the "attitudes of some forums members" for not going ahead with it when that's not the real reason why. If there was money to be made you would do it. I'm assuming that unluckily for us R34 owners it's just not commercially viable to do this. Whether that's because of the disparity in wage costs and regulatory regimes between our country nd others or because the market is too small (remember a lot less R34's were made than R33's) doesn't really matter I suppose. For some people and projects the cost of an item is a consideration that comes way down the list but for most people it's right up near the top. It's sad that someone like yourself, who is at the top of his game, struggles to make money, if that's what you're alluding to. I completely understand and sympathise. BUT; if the reason you work "12 years of 16 + hours a day 7 days a week with no life" is because you are making good money and don't know how to put your tools down then go and cry into someone elses beer. You get two things from work. Job satisfaction and money. If you don't get enough of either do something else. I'm guessing that you enjoy what you do? Plenty of people around here are jealous. Sorry if I'm being harsh but "some forum members" appears to include me.

Well as long as it's not the first weekend in August I will help you out. Sorry Alien, only know the one whore in the Cabramatta area...haha.

Generous aren't they.

I guess it's a good enough reason to polish up the car. 10 hours?! How much sitting around is there? Where would we be when waiting? Just want to see if I know any whores in the area. Post whores I mean...

Give us some more info Henzie. Lay it all out for us to see. Why do you get free postage? How did you package the suspension? How many boxes? How much did it weigh? Which post office did you send it from? What date did you receive payment? What date did you send the suspension? Anything else you can tell us so we can back you up?

Wil, it's funny when I did my research and ringing around I was thinking unigroup and asked them how long they needed it for. They said X days because we need it for cold start. I thought the same as you and decided not to use them. I have since used them for a touch up tune and had a chat to them. I mentioned why I didn't go to them originally and they explained in full why. The gist of it is, and these are my words not Yavuz', he is a perfectionist. He thinks that it is quite likely that the cold start will be fine but occasionally it isn't and he wants make sure. The thing is if he decides to make an adjustment he has to wait until it's completely cold again to see if that adjustment had an effect, hence the need to have it for some time. He also has a thing about people going to dyno days and getting another tuner in their ear saying this bit or that bit could be improved. He wants to leave absolutely nothing out there for them to bag out. If anyone doesn't understand or beleive this, just call them and ask for the full explanation. I normally use Mark from Hills Motorsport who I think is an extremely talented tuner but he is in Japan for a while and was heavily booked in the weeks coming up to then so I that's why I went to Unigroup. Mark also has much more experience than 80% of the other tuners out there.

You sound like you are going to buy it. Whatever one you end up getting, or looking seriously at, it's better to take it to an import shop. If you tell us the area we can recommend one close. NRMA reports have shown us that while they are mechanically sound people, they don't know imports and they don't check anything that can't be seen without taking anything off. A leakdown test would be one of the most valuable tests you can do but it takes time because you have to get all the stuff off the top of the engine to get the spark plugs out. As for manual conversions, how about you humour us. Ring Mark at Autosport Engineering 95211388 and ask him what it would cost if you had an auto r34 and manual half cut delivered to him to convert. Ring Justjap or SSS and ask for the half cut, or ask how much for one to be bought for the next shipment. BTW you could get an r33 half cut instead which would cost less but then you would have to chase the interior parts separately.

Hey I just remembered... who was it that threw beer all over my back?

I visited some friends in the country this weekend and was allowed to ride first a 1986 Yamaha XJ900 and then my mates 1986 Harley somethingerother. I now know about shaft drive and found it nice and smooth and quiet. The torque these bigger engines have is something I really appreciated compared the old CB250's. I also learnt how unreliable Harley's are but man I was the coolest person for miles while I was riding it. All this has reignited my desire to get a bike (also reignited my sunburn) so what do you guys think about this? Here is the surprisingly thorough wiki. ps, you might have noticed I've decided to spend less money on this hobby since I have plenty of other hobbys already.

Sounds like a dog to me. Yes you will have trouble finding a manual 4 door but for the money you are looking at you could quite likely buy an auto and convert it. I think it's hit a gutter and there could be other things out of alignment that you don't know of yet. The uneven tyre wear for a start is an alarm bell for me. Also shows a lack of mechanical care. The odo is most likely broken because they stuffed up something when winding it back. I wrecked a GTT with 170,000k's on it and when I pulled out the dash I saw that it had been tampered with so I guess it had well over 200,000k's. The good news with these cars is that when looked after they go for a long time (the engine out of that car is in a mates car now and is smoother than my fully rebuilt one) but all cars suffer when not maintained.

Nice one Ando. Love it. Can't wait to see it in my rear view mirror!! haha
