  1. John did all my engineering when I brought in a handful of 15 year old R32 GTR's. I can't comment on one off experiences however I found him knowledgable and well priced. I would have to agree with TeeJay1600 about the Dickson inspectors not holding him in the highest regard. Perhaps because he is in a position where he can and has challenged their interpretation and enforcement of the ADR's.
  2. I haven't found the cause yet but have some possible ways to minimize the problem: 1. Install dump pipes 2. Install CAM gears 3. Possible exhaust gasket leak. My thoughts are that the first two would only mask the problem and they are quite pricey. I am not convinced about the third one as surely there would be excess exhaust noise from the engine bay.
  3. Thanks guys I know dump pipes would help but there are many other examples with similar mods that don't have dump pipes. If it reaches full boost could it still be a turbo leak? Is there any tests that I could do to identify the cause?
  4. OK. Ever since I have had my GTR it has been slow to build boost and it also has a misfire both hot and cold and not isolated to idling. Background info. RB26 with consistent compression across all cylinders. HKS 2530's, 550cc injectors, aftermarket fuel pump, Z32 AFM's, Apexi PFC, pods, HKS exhaust (no dump pipes), HKS EVC. I recently replaced the standard AFM's and reprogrammed ECU with the Z32 AFM's and PowerFC which made no difference. I have also cleaned the coilpacks and replaced the sparkplugs which made little difference as well. Symptoms. Positive boost reading starts just at about 2100rpm's and then climbs at a linear rate until it peaks at 1bar just under 5000rpms. Ideally I would like the boost to come on stronger down lower so that I don't have to flog the engine to get responsiveness. Some forum articles suggest that gutting the Cat (if it has one) can help the boost build more quickly. I have also heard that cleaning the inlet manifold can help too. I am at a lose and am really wanting to sought this stuff out. Any help would be hugely appreciated guys. Cheers.
  5. Thanks guys. Cleaned them but still got the issue althought perhaps not as pronouced Symptoms are : slight misfire both hot and cold. Boost doesn't start building until about 3000rpms. Probably two seperate issues but any help would be appreciated.
  6. My car is misfiring on idle and my mechanic thinks that the coil packs need to be cleaned. I was thinking of doing this myself over the weekend. Can anyone shed some light on what I need to do i.e. remove coil packs, open them up? clean with electrical cleaner? Also, why I am there I am thinking of doing a health check on them. Is there anything I need to look out for such as hair line cracks or running a voltmeter on them? Thanks in advanced.
  7. I just bought a couple of used z32 AFM's and a new powerfc. Not installed yet so I can't comment on weather they are going to work. New AFM's cost about $310 + plugs each, used should be well under $200 each. Powerfc is $915 delivered from the forum new. Not sure about second hand prices.
  8. z32AFM/PowerFC combination should give a gain in power and fingers crossed a better power curve. At least these are the reasons I am making the modifications to my GTR. Thanks everyone for your responses. I am going to see if I can stretch the rubber hoses to fit and get a couple of adapter plates made up.
  9. I have a pretty basic question. I have just bought a couple of Z32 AFM's and a PowerFC to go with my Skyline and I was wandering what I need to do to fit the AFM's to the car. I have the plugs already, I guess I am more interested in finding out what I need to do to physically replace the AFM's? Any assistance would be appreciated.
  10. Thanks widebody. I am leaning towards the standard PFC because drivability to me is more important than getting a few extra kw's.
  11. Thanks Amaru. That is basically what I have read and if there isn't anyone in Canberra that can tune it well then it makes the decision easy.
  12. I am looking to buy an aftermarket ECU for my R32 GTR. I am running twin HKS 2530's, highflow injectors (not sure which ones), standard AFM's, and not sure what fuel pump. I am leaning towards a PowerFC D-Jetro as it eliminates the need for AFM but I have read that these are harder to tune and are better suited to cars that are generating very high power outputs. The obvious alternative is a standard PowerFC with higher volume AFM (GCZ32 or Infinity Q45's). I have read on the forums that you can replace the standard AFM with a single Infinity Q45 AFM wired up so that the PowerFC sees two AFM's. The price is going to be very similar either way so basically I am after the option that gives better all round driving package (including idling). Has anyone had experience either way? What are your thoughts? Cheers Nick
  13. I bought an Exedy Brass button clutch from the forums for my GTR. It bites a bit but that is to be expected. Definitely suitable for street. http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/in...c=85676&hl= BTW make sure you buy the right clutch because he doesn't refund or exchange.

  15. Hey Paul - Count me in for one. Please PM your netbank details. Cheers
  16. It made my day when Skaife crashed out and the best driver won which made the day that much sweeter.
  17. About 6 years ago my brother had mine confiscated and given a $1300 fine. To make matters worse it didn't even detect the cop after I spent $600 buying a top of the line one. My advice, drive carefully, keep your eyes open at all times and regardless of the colour always suspect any new Falcon or Commodore. I haven't had a speeding fine 5+ years which isn't bad for how I drive.
  18. Evo don't have a workshop anymore. Ben runs In-Tune out of the old Evo workshop. Previously he was only interested in tuning but he has a couple of guys working for him and he is happy to do any work.
  19. Thanks for everyone advice. I ended up taking it to Ben @ In-Tune.
  20. Please excuse my title. I am a little illiterate;)
  21. I have just imported an r32 gtr that I imported under the old 15 year import rule. Before I can get it registered I need to get the following fitted to the car: Side intrusion bars rear child anchor points rear eye level brake light Does anyone know of any workshops around Canberra that might be able to help me out? And no I can't do it myself Cheers
  22. Try AutoBarn Fyshwick. I am pretty sure I bought if there last time I changed my gearbox oil. Call them first because my memory fails me from time to time ;-)
  23. 33 gtst before any gtr? You must be kidding. I have had 32 and 33 gtst's and neither comes close to any gtr.
