  1. So the redline has been in for about 2 weeks now and I've done just over 1000km. Still no change. It looks like there's a rebuild in my not too distant future haha
  2. Spotted a silver M35 a few cars over from me in the car park paddock at Phillip island yesterday. Had a good 2 hours of not moving to check it out hahaha.
  3. I like you Daleo haha. We're on the same page. $120 or whatever for a bottle of oil is cheaper than a rebuild. If it fixes it, yay for me, if not, I've spent more on less haha. From what I've been reading my issue is commonly solved by just putting in redline. So I think that's what I'll do.
  4. Read and taken under advisement. That's one negative experience against quite a number of positive ones. I think my point is still valid tho. If the synchros are screwed and it requires a rebuild, what's the harm with throwing some Redline in? I'll do some research and see what I come up with.
  5. So I found the invoice and they defintiely drained and replaced the gearbox fluid. Valvoline 75W-90 is what went in I believe. And that was only about 8-9000ks ago. I guess i could get some Redline and throw that in to see if it helps. From what i've been reading (in the skyline section and other places on the interwebs) that's what most poeple are saying to do. As for Redline glazing the synchros from over lubrication, if they're already fu@#ed I don't see the harm. Keep the ideas coming if there is anymore. Thanks
  6. Oh ok. They're no good to me then as I have a factory manual. Good luck with it all mate.
  7. What brand and condition are the coil overs? And I assume they're fork rears as they were in a manual?
  8. By adjusted I mean I asked them to diagnose/fix the clutch noise while they were doing the service. They couldn't diagnose the noise without dropping the box out to actually inspect the clutch but did find that the free play was all up the shit so they adjusted that. I believe that was pretty much what the invoice said. I'll try and find the invoice tomorrow (am at work atm) to check what fluid they used. I believe it'd be right tho as they know their turbo cars. They get a lot of Skylines through and specialize in Subaru's.
  9. Does anyone have a rough estimate on how much a rebuild would be worth?
  10. As I said it's done it before (not quite this bad) then stopped and it's been fine for ages until now. A gearbox rebuild is not the next mod I had planned!! Haha. If it has to be, it has to be I guess. Might take it to a mechanic or gearbox joint if it doesn't settle down over the next couple of weeks. Thanks guys.
  11. It's just ticked over 100,000. I'll be buying the kit and getting the service done soon.
  12. It bites fairly early. I had the clutch adjusted by a workshop when they did a full service on it about 8000ks ago as I was making a weird noise. Now that I think of it the box was doing a similar thing then but nowhere near as bad. The noise and crunching/grinding went away after a few weeks. The concrete in the carport is bone dry so I don't think it's a leak. As for what clutch is in it, I have no idea and there's a longish story that goes with that which ends with me still not knowing what clutch it is. I'll hazard a guess and say stock or something similar. If synchros, what would be the fix? Full box rebuild? Or can you just replace synchros and freshen up the rest? Also, why would it be completely fine one day then start doing this the next? I could understand if I was smashing through gears and missed a change that resulted in grinding a gear but I haven't done that at any time around the issue developing. Cheers guys.
  13. So I've developed a problem in my C34 series 2 rs4s. When changing from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd at high revs it seems to grind/crunch. It's worse 1st to 2nd than 2nd to 3rd. Not sure if it does it 3rd to 4th as I'd be doing about 160km/h at that change and public roads tend to not let you go that fast haha. Just cruising around town with normal changes there is no issue whatsoever. I don't notice any clutch slippage at all. Any ideas from anyone would be great. Syncro's or clutch?
  14. Green S1 C34 in the carpark at Winton Motor Raceway today for Performace Car Mania.
  15. Yeah mines a little out too. 120 on the speedo is actually about 112-113. I've just gotten used to it. Yeah all stock at the moment. I did buy Tein s-tech springs but they didn't lower it enough and were stupidly hard, so I sold them and put the stockers back in.
  16. What brand are the coil overs and are they for auto of manual? Eg fork or eyelet. Pics perhaps?
  17. Yeah I've just had the same explanation from a mate that lives in Japan. Super fine hard coating. No label on the back window. It's probably been removed at some stage or another. Thanks guys.
  18. Thanks for that Chook. The only label as such that's not a badge would be the RSFourS sticker/label on the tailgate. But I'd hardly call that an option haha.
  19. Got a couple of questions. I have FAST on my computer and after putting in my VIN hitting OK then clicking the options button, my cars only option seems to be LABEL. So i'm just wondering what the "LABEL" option is? It's "A" as the final (18th) model number digit. Also i'm wondering how to find out if my car had Xenons factory fitted or not? My VIN is WGNC34 136384 if someone else wants to check it out. Cheers Ben
  20. These are still for sale guys and girls.
  21. As topic says I have some Tein S-Tech springs for sale. These were bought from Japan in May and cost $400 shipped. Looking for $200 ono and I'm willing to ship at buyers expense. They were in the car for about 6-8 weeks. I have an S2 Rs4s but according to the Tein site they should fit S1's too. Overall in good condition apart from a few chips and scratches from the spring compressors (see pics). I only pulled them out as they didn't drop the car as far as I'd hoped they would.
  22. According to Tein, the S-Tech spring is supposed to lower the car around 1.5inches from standard and are designed to be used with the standard shock (which I have done). They've been in for 3 weeks now and it hasn't come down anymore. If the standard setup had sagged that much, I'd hate to see how high the car was before!!! As for chopping off a coil or two, it had crossed my mind but I don't want to be that dodgy, I'm passed all that now haha. Plus they're a tapered spring. I'm thinking I might take my standard springs to get reset 40-50mm lower then chuck them back in. Or just keep saving for BC's. I'm pretty sure the Teins will be coming out and going up for sale soon tho.
