  1. because thats what smokes the coils in injectors... an injector running over 90% d/c will get too hot and eventually fuse its coil.
  2. My only objection your last post is that your suggesting that Wolf can somehow increase the flow through an injector over say a PowerFC. How is that gonna happen? And i know your gonna say something about batch fire, but its relevance to this discussion is limited at best. Batch fire has what i consider to be absolutely no relevance on RB engines. Im sorry to have had to add my 2c but saying that wolf can magic up extra fuel is rubbish. Its like saying your new toaster makes your stereo louder.
  3. Sorry ill explain my POV. I dont think you want to heat the fuel per say, nor do i think they wanted to heat the intake air. When you get a good squirt from an injector some bits of fuel would be bound to hit the lower part of the runners, if the runners are hot it would atomise instantly on touch. Thats why i think its there for atomisation. Its only my opinion.
  4. Its not the BOV, im running 20 pounds with a stock BOV, its the turbo running out of comp... The stock BOV is awesome, dont change it, you truly will be takin a step back by changing it.
  5. I thought it was the opposite, i thought their aim was to heat the runners up to increase atomisation of fuel when the engine is cold. At high airflow i dont think it would make too much difference to the air temps that actually hit the cylinders.
  6. I also have something to watch out for, Im not sure if its so much an issue in gtrs. If the pump doesnt have sufficient clearance from the tank walls all around it do not put it in tank, as the pump vibrates it rubs the plastic off the tank and chews it. I lost 2 x 040s to this before i just gave up and put an 044 in with surgetank externally.
  7. hahahaha, well put Rev. Anyways, 13_devil 1600 bucks is really quite expensive for just a chip cook and an AFM, youd be better off getting a PowerFC i believe... unless im misunderstanding something
  8. If they do exist for skylines (which i dont think they do) they arent worth buying anyway. No-one can make a generic "Powerchip" to provide a good gain on many cars with many different combinations of mods. Save your cash and get an SAFC or even better yet a PowerFC. Also if this is your first mod(s), go for exhaust / pod / cooler upgrades first Do it right dude, and dont believe chip marketting b/s.
  9. You sure you werent just reading the timing wrong? I know on RB25s that its actually running 15o when the light and balancer says im running about 25-30o (with a normal non adjustable dwell timing light) And if i run 15o according to the balancer and light then im actually running a whole heap less (thus more flame down exhaust, more spool but a shitty running car)
  10. George that picture that you posted is just the way that the fittings seal themselves properly. At the top left of this chart you wil see a cutsection pic of the GT series showing quite clearly some very fine passages leading to bearings... http://www.gcg.com.au/technical/garrett%20...ng%20chra's.jpg
  11. Hey guys, just got off the phone to the Melb CAMS office they too confirm that for non-race events (L2S Club days are non-race) that if you car is a road car built post 1973 you do not need additional restraints... Cheers
  12. Just what I got told today yeah, coz technically they do already have a secondary, standard wire clasp and then hook... Perhaps someone else could query it, so we can get a firm answer?
  13. Hey guys just a heads up... Bodily unmodified vehicles built after 1973 dont need a secondary bonnet restraint. Checked this today with Jim from Maserati Club, it also says that in the fine print before the entry form...
  14. Hey guys, After hearing about Victoria's new "lets take cars off young people" law I just wanted to get a firm feel for how many strips exist in each state... I know a lot of enthusiasts in Vic race on the street due to the distance and generally crappy quality of Calder Park, Ive always thought the amount of street racing would drop if they opened an eastern suburbs strip. Anyone enough of my rant please list any drag strips per state that you know of... Thanks! VIC - Calder
  15. I ran mine in with synthetic. It also had a whole load of power runs as its "run-in". Sorry but all this bullshit people speak about run in is garbage, my motor was run in at full ball with a synth oil and about 4000k later its not burning oil and running like a psycho. BTW this isnt an attempt to argue i couldnt give two ****s whether anyone believes me / wants to argue or whatever just thought it might help someone.
  16. Compare the size of the oil feed vs oil drain. Also look at that cut section, I dont see how its possible to actually have sufficient pressure in the bearing cavity to push past the seals? I still maintain that you shouldnt run one. As for the comparo i dont think garrett really had falcons in mind when they designed these cores. I've seen my oil pressure up around 11kg/cm and i dont shoot out seals or have smoke shooting out of my exhaust.
  17. Im also running an N1 pump on my car and have no issues with leakage? http://www.gcg.com.au/technical/garrett%20...ng%20chra's.jpg If you look at the top left corner of that sheet it has a little cutsection of a GT CHRA, you can see the very little oil passages, it needs heaps of pressure in the chamber above the nozzle to create an oil "spray" over the bearings, i dont believe with a restrictor you will have the same pressure in that chamber. Id strongly suggest not putting a restrictor on these turbos.
  18. Garret GT series CHRA's have very small nozzles right above the actual bearings. I wouldnt restrict it. Thats what the nozzles above the bearings are for.
  19. You can just leave it in your garage. I did that for 12 months. Mine was ok, id start it and take it around the block once a month or so. Dont sell it! :| Just be careful not to get tempted to drive it tho...
  20. Have you tried like i said, with just the line running straight from the intake to the gate?
  21. My mate got done for driving suspended, he got an extra 1 month and 500 bucks of fines / court fees. As for all the preachers, you dont know the guys circumstances so give him a break.
  22. In answer to your first post. Mikes are very good. Decent dudes and have built some pretty nasty cars in their time.
