  1. Thanks man! I've had a fair few detailed tips from a few mates who are alot faster than me. So that'll give me something to work towards next time
  2. Alright guys, a bit of in car footage, definitely not great footage, be gentle lol
  3. I just finished reading your build man, really good read! Heaps of detail too Love it.
  4. ? Wow I wish I knew where I was getting the fat stacks from...or maybe I shouldn't ask lol!
  5. Even better than me having heaps of fun, my wife asked me when the next track day is? She had a blast. Hahaha!! This might be where I can knock some seconds off. More fasts for the straight line stuff ?
  6. Thanks mate! Lol yep I definitely do, no denying that. I'm not hugely confident out there behind the wheel on the track. ? although... I definitely had a shitload of fun!
  7. Hey guys! Update time again. So all the track prep during last week definitely paid off! We had no issues what so ever down at Wakefield last Sunday (24.6.18) Even with the sidepipe! We managed to get 6 x sessions in during the Trackschool Track Day. I took my wife along for her first ever track day so we had 3 x sessions each. Good news is she absolutely loved it, the bad news is she's almost as quick as me... My PB in my N15 (with SR20VE) was 1:16.06 I did a 1:16.16 in my N14 Wifey did a 1:16.83.... on her first ever track day. So either I need to pull my finger out or I need less mechanical sympathy lol. Following this little paragraph will be a few photos of the track prep that was under taken also some photos of the day taken by myself or my wife, (no pro ones yet) There will be a couple of videos to follow once I finish giving them a tweak A bit of a pre-service (brakes and clutch were only bled/flushed weeks prior) Finished off my gearknob too, it is a Grimmspeed (Subaru) unit although I did some calcs and wanted one around 600g this one was 650g and needed a few mods including drilling/tapping the threads deeper down then relieving the inside to allow the short shifter to sit properly. Then I dialed in some angles on the little red rocket. I opted to buy a set of the Nankang AR1 tyres too, after reading so many good reviews, I thought I might as well give them a try when presented with a really good price on a set. A quick snap to show how cool the morning was: still -3 at 7am All setup, warmed up, ready for our first session: The wife lining up ready to give the rocket some hell And a shot under the Wakefield arch just before home time:
  8. You're not wrong there mate. I still like the n/a game ?
  9. Haha! Cows and the sheep! Ahh so the dB meter is at turn 2? ?
  10. Yeah wow thanks for the insight man. I'll take the stock exhaust down, just in case. Does Luddenham have a dB restriction?
  11. Thanks for the heads up man much appreciated. I'll let you know how I get on.
  12. I did think about that too Leroy, although I had a mate attend a Track School Trackday (Wakefield) recently in a N14 with a side pipe, no issues. He is using 2 x 14" perforated resonators, I'm using a 14" and an 18" resonator in mine. Both resonators are louvered style and setup in reverse orientation so the louvers catch the sound. In short I'm hoping not mate, although there is always the potential. I'll take the stock system down just in case.
  13. I'll see what I can do for you at the upcoming track day Just for you though
  14. Hey guys, some more track prep this weekend. Finished making up my 2.5" sidepipe. Squashed a 4" piece of stainless pipe - a mate of mine and I love the look of the old 910 Bluebirds sidepipe and we wanted to do something similar. I didn't want to make a complete system for the sake of a track day, especially when the VE exhaust will be 3" Here are a couple of photos: Performance wise alot better! Revs really free, has alot more punch and the SR scream is pretty full on! Anyway thanks for reading.
  15. Thanks very much mate. I do try and take my time with all my mods as I have a little OCD. So if it's not right it just results in rework, waste of time, money and materials ? Thanks for the words. Much appreciated
  16. Alright this is the last post and this thread is completely updated So after going over everything before this fast approaching track day, I noticed a little green drip from the water pump tell tale hole. So decided to err on the side of caution and throw a new pump at it before the track day. Checked all the coolant hoses, disconnected all the coolant lines from the intake manifold and looped them, also disconnected and looped the lines from the throttle body. I had to release all 4 engine mounts to be able to have enough clearance between the chassis rail and the water pump, which meant removing the airbox. Since I made it I have always wanted to paint it satin black, so prepped it up and gave it a coat of paint. Then I finished my seat brackets to mount the pair of Sparco Pro 2000's which I am running. That's all from me for now Thanks for reading.
  17. Hey guys, another update. I finished painting the primed areas in the boot area where the sound deadening was removed, also finished clipping the battery cable to the floor pan, keep everything as neat as possible. I finished cc'ing my intake ports yesterday: #1 - 169.1cc #2 - 169.1cc #3 - 169.2cc #4 169.2 cc Now they're really close, I can finish the ports off
  18. Gave the little N14 a much needed detail and it came up okay I think, had to get a few photo's: As it sits now with full fluids the N14 weighs in at 1020kg which means it was a 120kg weight reduction
  19. Then the carpet was stripped out, to fit the brackets, rails and seat out. Then... Dry ice time, my wife gave me a hand removing all the sound deadening. She thought it was great fun. In total 30kg's of sound deadening was removed, including the firewall mat. A coat of paint now, to protect that exposed primer Also, reinstalled 3kg's worth of Dynaliner to try and help with heat coming through the floor Harness bar test fit while the seats are out
  20. Then I went back to the VE head, tried my hand at a bit of light porting, a mate of mine is giving me a hand, this porting is just the cleanup stage: Intake Before: After: Exhaust Before: After: Bought myself a burette to make sure I wasn't getting too carried away on one port more than the other. The porting work hasn't finished just yet. Still doing bits and pieces on it from time to time. Next up - Track Prep
  21. Made an airbox up since the battery was going in the boot anyway I hate the stock Pulsar filter setup. Such a restrictive unit. Battery in the boot:
  22. Bought some Protech 4-1's for the VE build, these are used from another member, stepped 4-1's to give some decent torque down low, although 4-1's to keep the VE screaming up top. That is a 3" V band... Stripped the VE down ready for some love
  23. Finally on the road and driving as a manual!! 16x7 RPF1's arrived, had to test fit them With tyres now: I went with 205/45R16 Yokohama Advan V701's
  24. So, wheel alignment time: This was all done by me with the help of a very talented mate. As you can see, castor isn't ideal, so time for some castor adjusting bushes. This is a 32V VZR Gearbox I picked up to do my manual conversion Pretty grubby hey... Alot cleaner now Auto is out!! Finally!! Freshly machined PAR 4.1kg flywheel fitted up and new Xtreme HD Organic Clutch I did the hydro conversion while I was going. Fitted a turbine oil impegnated sintered bronze bush to the GTiR clutch pedal, for a buttery smooth feel.
