  1. You've posted this in the wrong sub-forum. This area is for v35 and v36 Skyline discussion. Either repost this again in the main 'Skyline & other vehicle specific' area or ask one of the mods to move it for you. Also, I know very little about older skylines but would imagine that the answer to your question would have been covered in detail in the past. Give the Search tool a go and you may find what you are after.
  2. Agreed. Unless you know EXACTLY what you are doing, have done it 10 times before and have MANY hours of free time to make calls and follow up with every little issue, go through a local with experience. In the worst case scenario that everything turns to s&%t and the car is a lemon, you will want to have someone in Australia that you can chase down to sort it all out.
  3. When i was with HBF they had a 20% drop in value every year for all imports. Was just their standard policy and I had to provide an independant valuation to get the agreed value increased.
  4. The Paddle shift changes in my car sped up a decent amount, especially down shifts which are now almost instant. In standard auto the car hunts for gears less. It is still no Ferrari inspired box but definitely improved. The car is 0% faster. MPG is EXACTLY the same. Dozens of people on myg37.com say the same thing. Dozens also say that their car now has 10hp more and are obviously idiots. You can quote as many electrical facts to me as you like, explaining why the grounding wires have done ABSOLUTELY nothing and that it is just a worldwide aftermarket parts provider conspiracy. The above are the facts, as I have experienced them, in my car, with my own senses. Whether the skinny grounding wires that Nissan installed are not sufficient and somehow affect the ECU, I do not know. These cars have waaaay too many electrical systems for me to even want to try to comprehend what affects what. All I know is, the grounding wires made a difference and I am happy. End of story for me.
  5. You do realise that you could have simply edited the first f'ed up post, right?
  6. Thank you for your comment. Quick questions.....do you own a V36 Skyline? Have you installed grounding wires on said V36 and done back to back testing? If the answer to either of these questions is no, then thanks for the input but until you can answer yes to both, it doesnt really provide any great insite.
  7. If you put "LEO WANKER" into google translate, I think that you will find it translates to "I'm jealous and have nothing to show from life"
  8. I wonder how the law will work in regards to importing a Nissan 370gt, when they sell an Infiniti G37 locally? I mean, it is technically the same car, but technically NOT the same car, if you get my drift. I also thought that you would still be able to import any model that was not sold in Australia, up until they start selling it here. So I imagined that you would still be able to import a 2009 model, for example, as it was never able to be purchased locally at the time.
  9. Probably just a loose wire, open up the remote and check.
  10. I dont think that the price of the imports will go up. They will still cost the same amount to buy, import and comply. It is these costs that determine its value. Edit- if they change the import laws and make it impossible to import 2007-2012 versions, then the values may increase.
  11. Possibly, but I wont be holding my breath.
  12. This... And this... If you had a show car with Ghost Flames down the side, then it might look good, just to be different, but on the road it would look pretty "ghey"
  13. Yes you need a customs broker, unless you are happy doing all of the paperwork yourself, which you won't be. Compliance workshop simply has the car delivered to them, do their crap and then you either pick it up or it is sent to you. Seriously though, speak with Iron Chef or Prestige motorsport or one of the others. They will explain every little detail to you and do their best to save you money. They get paid the same amount no matter what it ends up costing you.
  14. Thought that I would write a VERY quick review of the R2C duel short ram intakes that I posted about previously. I don't have any pictures of them installed but funnily enough they look EXACTLY the same as the pictures from the R2C website.....I did take before and after videos on my phone to see if you could pick up any difference in the sound, but unfortunately the sound recording on the phone is shite (as expected), so all you can hear is my VERY happy expletives in the background. Just in case anyone doesn't know what I am talking about, I bought these (http://www.r2cperformance.com/-infiniti-g37-cold-air-intake.aspx) from the states about 2 weeks ago through one of the sellers on the myg37.com forum and they arrived last Friday. List price for the Black Nickel pipes is US$549, as you can see on the link above, the deal I got was US$515, including delivery, which would normally be another US$80 or so. With the exchange rate at the time, they cost $492 to my door. Took just over one week to get here, which I was impressed with. They were packaged VERY well, with copious amounts of bubble wrap and extra paper thrown in the box for padding. Opened the box, unwrapped the first pipe and was blown away by how awesome the Black Nickel piping looks and how clean all of the welds are. They truly are sexy and, in my opinion, compliment the engine bay better than any silver piping ever could. I was a little hung over on Saturday morning so waited until early arvo to begin the install. To be honest the instructions are shit, a couple of pictures that vaguely match up with the written areas, the only useful part was a diagram at the back showing all of the parts and how it all goes together, but to be honest, if you cant figure out how to put them together you should DEFINITELY not be touching anything on your car apart from the steering wheel. Pulling the old intake out of the car was a piece of piss, undo a couple of mounting bolts and a couple of house clamps and out they pop. You do need to give a little yank on the filter housing, as it pushes into two plastic mounts underneath quite firmly. The reinstall is just as easy, the only issue I had, which probably cost me about 30mins of wasted time, was that they did supply one long hose to replace the existing hoses, but it was actually easier to simply reuse the existing hoses and just reroute them a little differently. All up it took me just over 2 hours, from start to finish, and I am no mechanic so anyone should be able to do it. Once everything was in I started it up and gave a little rev and could instantly hear a slightly deeper growl which was satisfying. I had really expected that to be about it and was quite happy but then I went for a drive..........the difference is like night and day. The slightly deeper growl whilst idle, turns into a seriously loud, jeans tenting, roar when under load. I had not expected the intake to be as loud as it is, but it really sounds like a totally different engine. It begins at around 4000rpm and once I got up to 6000 - 7500rpm, my pants were definitely feeling too small for me. What was once a very civil, almost boring sounding engine, now sounds the way that something with this level of performance should do (like it is coming to eat you alive). I know that I probably sound like I am exaggerating, but I took a few friends/colleagues for drives over the weekend, including a colleague who has just bought a 2012 G37 Convertible in the states, and none of them could believe the difference. The guy with the convertible was very jealous. As for an actual performance increase, I haven't really noticed a hell of a lot, at times I get the feeling that it is more responsive and possibly a little quicker but it could just be the placebo affect. I have managed to spin the wheels a little when taking off on a slight bend, which was impossible in the past (and should still be now with the computer controlling everything), not sure if this is any indication. Even if it had freed up a few KW, I wouldn't expect it to be enough to actually notice on anything but a DYNO. Overall, I cant convey in words how happy I am with these intakes, I enjoyed driving the car immensely in the past, but now it feels like a completely different beast. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
  15. Not sure if anyone else would agree but 55000km (i assume you meant that) on a 7-8 year old car seems suspiciously low to me, especially if the car has issues with the seat as you explained. Thats not to say that there is no way that it is completely legit but I would be looking VERY closely at it.
  16. This thread is f'ing awesome. FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT!!!!!!
  17. Ok. "Single intake setup would be $310 for polished & $345 for black nickel." <--- This is for the v35 single intake "Price for black powder is $465 shipped and black nickel would be $515 shipped." <---- This is for the v36 dual intakes. Delivery is apparently the same price no matter where in Australia you are located. I am ordering mine tonight but if anyone else is interested I can pass on the details of the guy that I am getting it from. Al
  18. From memory, it is for some sort of car phone. There is a thread about it here somewhere and I saw some pictures in one of the car manuals. Basically it is completely useless for us. The G37's have an ipod connection in this spot but unfortunately they didnt put one on the JDM's
  19. After reading 5 pages of this topic......this is the only thing that I have learned!
  20. I will need to confirm that with the US seller Shiva. R2C website is down right now for some reason but a pic is available here http://www.tunerzsto...ndex.php?p=1_86 Is basically the same as the G37 intakes but you only need one. My guess will be that it will be around retail price, if the R2C website was working I could tell you what that was, but including shipping which would normally be another $50+ for the G35 and $80-100 for the G37. I will ask the question tonight and hopefully have an answer in the morning. Let me know ASAP if you are actually keen because I was planning on ordering mine tonight but will hold off if you are really interested. As for the Takeda intake mentioned above, I have read good and bad things about it. The price is definitely right but from what I have been reading, if you want the best CAI then go the Stillen G3 and if you want the best SRI go R2C. They are the only two that seem to be backed up by multiple dyno runs. If you dont want to spend the crazy $600-700+ for the Stillen, then go the Takeda as it is far cheaper and definitely does have some good reviews. EDIT: R2C site is working again. http://www.r2cperfor...ke-systems.aspx RRP is $269 - 299 depending on the look you want. So based on the price I have been quoted for the G37 intake, you would be looking at around those $$ and possibly a little less, but it would include delivery. Shiva, let me know if you want me to bother asking for the exact price as I really want to get mine ordered ASAP.
  21. http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20424.asp http://www.transport.wa.gov.au/licensing/20626.asp#20650 If there are any car/power restrictions they would be written there. I cant find anything that says there are restrictions in WA, I think that there DEFINITELY should be but dont think that it is currently the case.
  22. Pretty sure there are still no restrictions in WA. I see p platers in SS utes every day, saw a p plate 911 the other day. Someone correct me if i am wrong
  23. Boys and Girls, I will potentially be getting one of these (http://www.r2cperformance.com/-infiniti-g37-cold-air-intake.aspx) in the near future, just need one last conversation with the missus, if you know what I mean. If you read about them on the myg37 forum, the consensus seems to be Stillen G3 for the Cold Air Intake or these for a Short Ram. I don't want to a) Cut bits of the car apart and b) spend massive $$$ on an intake that will really just make the car a little louder, so I have decided to go with the R2C. Was looking at a standard K&N Typhoon as well as they are a little cheaper, but prefer the black colour and also the additional heat shielding on the R2C. Anyway, I have found 2 places that will do a good deal, less than retail and including delivery to Aus which would normally be another $80 or so. If anyone else is possibly interested, let me know and if I can throw a little extra business their way, we may be able to get the price down even further. They do a single intake for the V35 as well, obviously a lot cheaper as it is a single, so if any V35 owners are looking at getting something I can enquire about these as well. Let me know, I will be making my final decision this weekend and then ordering soon after that. If no one is interested, well then you can all get f&%ked and I will post pics once I have it in. Cheers Al
