  1. I just got back from the US and they do it all of the time over there. The fact that the G37's seem to be a VERY popular car could have something to do with it. I saw dozens of them on a daily basis.
  2. I would buy the car just so that the guy gets paid for his awesome sales pitch. If all used carsalesman were like this guy, they would have a completely different reputation.
  3. I have not owned a v35 but on paper there should not be a huge difference in performance. There would be some subtle differences but nothing to justify the extra cash. The reason to upgrade would be more based on looks in my opinion, interior and exterior wise the v36 trounces the v35 any day of the week. They dont handle too badly and are reasonably quick in a straight but keep in mind, just like the v35, they are not a pure sports car so dont expect it to handle like a go kart. I've had mine for a few months now and all I can say is that I am more than happy with it. I have been driving a brand new Jaguar XF here in Houston for the past few days and honestly would rather be back in my 370. The Jag is VERY nice but when I remember that it is a $100,000+ car and my 370 cost me under $40,000 there is no contest. The Jag has a few interior additions that I like but they are all very small things and it simply doesnt come close performance and handling wise. 5, 7 speed or manual is completely up to you. Personally I would normally choose a manual over an auto any day of the week, but seeing as the 370 is more about luxury with a little sportiness than pure sportiness I think the sequential auto is good compromise. 5 or 7 speed will simply come down to the model year of the car that you get, 2008 will be 5 speed 2009+ will be 7 speed. Obviously if you can afford it, get the newest one you can but you will get a better deal on importing an 08 now and then the 09's will get cheaper next year. Good luck.
  4. Correct on point A. Everyone in Western Australia charges too much money for everything. PERIOD. I dont follow what you're saying on point B.
  5. Wow, scary! Those first year apprentice sparky's are a menace to society. Lucky you went all James Bond on him and got away safely. Did you call the police afterwards and inform them that there are P-platers in hilux's roaming the neighbourhoods at night causing mischief? I would have explained to the police that I was just minding my own business and trying to have a nice safe street race when this maniac started stalking me simply because I beat him in a race, at night, on a public road. Lucky you were able to get away with your life after that and followed the well known police advice, in that situation, of turning your lights off and speeding up. Actually, now that I think about it, isnt there normally a $500 reward for that in some states.
  6. Sorry guys, my mistake. I dont know what Fabcar quote for complying the crossover but I chatted to them about 370gt's and they said $5-6000, double what I paid a couple of weeks later in Brissie.
  7. Beat me to it Chris. Fabcar have them but they aint that cheap.....The one on their site is $129,000 but they had another one when I was in there last week that was around $150,000 from memory. They have been imported from England so they also have the full english system, which is an obvious advantage over the Japanese imports. I have never seen one on the road over here though which is a good thing in my book but obviously no good for resale as noone will know what it is. There are plenty of Porsche Cayenne's over here so that would be an advantage for resale. www.fabcar.com.au/
  8. Yeah, car can be opened and started without taking the key out of your pocket. Its pretty cool but takes a little getting used to.
  9. I dont know if anyone has already posted this up and that anyone with half a brain can find it with a google search but below is the link to the official Infinti USA website where you can choose the appropriate owners manual for your car. This has helped me learn a bit about the touch screen system. Yes, i know that the G37 and 370GT do have differences but these manuals are still close enough for you to figure most things out. http://www.infinitiusa.com/iapps/techpubs If this is already somewhere or has already been mentioned, then insult me and delete please. If not, enjoy. Al
  10. Ok, I think it is done so...... Hit the Settings button, then Clock is the second one down on the right. Top right is phone, second is clock. There will be two options that have numbers in them. The first is to change from 12 hour to 24 hour format and with the second you can + or - minutes from the current time. Sorry that this isnt a perfect description, but I am going off of the G37 manual and I know from experience that it is slightly different to the Jap one.
  11. I found that mine was out of sync for some reason and did manage to find the option to move the time forward or back. You dont seem to be able to simply set it to whatever you like, but you can move it around a bit. If I remember I will have a look tonight.
  12. So I have been meaning to ask this for a while. Does anyone know what the cable that plugs into the back of the rear view mirror of my 370gt is for?
  13. Beer Baron, what arguement can you use when they ask for the dutiable value? I asked here in WA and was told that dutiable value is how much the car could be sold for on the Australian market. Also, what is the reason behind not having to comply a personal import which has been owned for 12 months? I thought the whole point of compliance was to bring the car to Australian standards? Sorry if this has been covered 100000 times.
  14. Correct me if I am wrong but I was told that if it doesnt hit the reserve but comes somewhere close then the seller may be willing to negotiate and may still sell under the reserve. As beer baron said, if you are bidding online then this wont be an option.
  15. Hey john, I was picking up my car from service the other day and was told your story about the N1, Matt showed me the gift that you gave them. You are one lucky guy if it is in fact an N1. I dont know much about Skylines, only recent bought my first one so I cant help you with your question, sorry. Good luck to you and if you do get the proof that you are after, dont go putting 50,000km on the thing, either wrap it up or sell it. You will probably be wiping $100 off its value for every km you drive. I dont know exactly what it is worth, but I know that I could not have it in my driveway and not drive it, so maybe you should consider taking them up on their offer to swap for the Mazzerati they have on the lot.
  16. They have been around for ages and the warranty is not through them, it is through the AWN (australian warranty network).
  17. I know that this tread is stale, but just in case anyone is interested. I just had my RX7 serviced by these guys (i bought it there) and spoke with the head of the service department about the black one that is still sitting on display. As someone mentioned above, it IS a 2008 (dont ask me why they put 2011 on the ad, they are used car salesman after all). They know a dealer in Japan that has a couple of these that have never been sold and they simply bought them, put 50km on them in Japan and then imported them. They are a compliance workshop as well as car sales and services and are now really only dealing in high end imports (Ferrari, Lambo, GTR, Mazza, Infiniti etc etc). I had a close look at the black on in the photo because I thought that it could possibly just be wound back or something of the sort, but it does not have a single scratch on it, inside or out. It is absolutely immaculate. I had a look at the exhaust and it also does not have a single mark on it, the whole car looks like it has barely run at all (which would make sense for 50km on the ODO). It is definitely over priced, as someone else said, but just because the sticker says $147,000, doesnt mean thats what anyone will be paying for it. I guess that they want a premium for it because it is basically brand new. Still don't know if anyone would want to pay 2009-2010 prices for a brand new 2008 though. Hard for me to comment because I am not anywhere near the position to buy a $150,000 toy lol. I know that the ad is pretty dodge, but the guys at this place are actually pretty cool. Gave me a 5 year, highest level warranty on my RX7 a few years ago, who gives a 5 year warranty on a rotary LOL! When I picked up the car this morning they had even detailed it for free which was a nice surprise. I think that would be the kind of place that would be good to build up a relationship with over time as they seem happy to do extra little things to try to get you back again. They have a couple of GT-R's that they race in Targa West, they won their class this year from memory so I dont think that they are all bad. With that last paragraph in mind, YES the ad is very dodgy!
  18. This is great news for me as i just signed up with Shannans for the first time. Thanks for taking the time to write that nathan.
  19. God damn it, I was thinking of doing exactly the same thing in my gf's purple Fiesta. This bastard beat me to it!!!
  20. Bored + Billions $$$ in Oil Money = above video.
  21. NSX is starting to look a little old in the tooth, don't get me wrong I would still love one but compared to this it does look old fashioned. EDIT: Keeping in mind that the above body kit costs around $20,000 lol
  22. Very true. Actually I would probably prefer to leave the badges on, it would be too much fun to see an HSV or FPV driver reduced to tears after he has just been flogged by a Hyundai
  23. Hyundai have come a hell of a long way and the Genesis does look hot. They compare them to the G37 Coupe in the states and there is generally not much in it at all. Hyundai's only problem, I think, is lack of racing pedigree. Most of the more fancied car manufacturers that they would like to try to go up against (NISSAN, Mazda, BMW etc etc) all have at least some history in MAJOR motorsport, as far as I am aware Hyundai do not. They were in Rally for a while, they even talked up getting into F1 when Korea got their own GP, but it never happened...... When you start out making $10,000 s&%t boxes, you are always going to have trouble working your way up to the high end. I guarantee that Hyundai will be making some rediculously nice, high end cars in the near future that are easy as good, if not better, than their competitors but the simple fact is that once you have a reputation it takes a looooong time to change it.
  24. If she is saying it on all of our cars at random times then I am pretty certain that it is not a warning of any type. Would be nice to find out though, I wish that there was a way to have the entire manual translated that wouldn't cost me $20,000. The SATNAV specific manual is actually bigger than the manual for the rest of the car....must be a good system, shame it is useless!
