  1. Oh and Glenn, no need to appologise about bitching, thats what I started this thread for:D
  2. Hi Glen, some more good stuff there. Its acutally amazing that the likes of HPI or ZOOM hasnt done an expose on these types of antics - they owe their livelyhood to car enthusiats, it would be nice if they could use their powers for good. Would you be happy to issue a statement to that effect, even if you send me an e-mail. I dont intend on putting names down, but if I have a more formal statement, it gives an submission I render more weight if I can say that I have statement from other car enthusiasts to this effect. Also, businesses pay more tax than individuals, and as a rule any word of protest from business will carry more weight. No govt. I hope to start drafting on the weekend. In 1-2 weeks I will run it past the legal section of the Attorney generals office to see how it sits and if they can recommend any amendments to provide more impact. I am planning on inlcuding any and all instances where HPI and Zoom have drawn attention to possible problems, for example in a recent copy of zoom it published the problems someone had with getting racing harnesses approved, first you could then you couldnt. It stated that for 10 different people at regency, you get 10 different answers. Also, one mag mentioned getting cops try to get heavy handed until they were told they were talking to reporters. Its all good stuff:D Hopefully, with enough weight of evidence, and a correctly formatted submission, we can at least bring enought attention to this situation that something will be done. Time to move out of the 20th century and into the 21st, and thank god holden and ford are now mass producing forced induction cars, perhaps it wont be too long before institutionalised wake up and smell the roses.
  3. Acutally, I tell a lie, the AX53B60 is a ball tearer on a 2L too, and the trust T518Z goes pretty hard as well:)
  4. Have you ever driven a 2L with a 2510. Depends on what you call 'well suited' I suppose. I dont have any experience with 2510, but do with 2530 on RB20 - it was the perfect street/strip turbo, 230rwkw at 1.2 bar, pulling hard from under 3krpm. The 2530 is THE turbo for a 2 litre. And if you dont use a z32 with 230rwkw at the wheels, you will only be able to tune at one boost level and have to leave it there. So no you wont have to upgrade if you dont ever want to change boost settings.
  5. Dont worry Hippy, you wont loose the title that easy;)
  6. INASNT, did you try adjusting the blitz one? Seems pretty bizarre that a reputable jap company would produce rubbish.... just goes to show I suppose:)
  7. Timmmayyy, external wastegates that plumb back are not loud, and enter before the cat, in other states they are legal, I would like to know why they are illegal here. I am not sure about the 100mm thing either, but I could imagine it has something to do with cars so low they bottom out and cause damage to roads. What I cant understand is the 350mm rule from center of wheel to guard - I am pretty sure no VN commodores would pass this one as the rear guard is alot lower than the front over the wheel. And this is an aus built car. Consistancy, it appears there is none. Oh and Renault have been doing the same thing too for years.
  8. Have a look under the car, if the pipes are around 3 inches or 80mm+ it is probably ok. Best way is to buy a cat back system, just buying mufflers will help a bit, but only if its a decent one = there is alot of crap out there. And if he paid $95 for the front muffler, it could be something like a turbo muffler which are crap and just give the exhaust a nice note.
  9. er, dude, 1 bar = 14.7psi, its as easy as diving psi by 14.7 for bar or multiplying bar by 14.7 for psi. even if 1 bar was 14.5psi, using 0.07 as a multiple to convert psi to bar is inaccurate, as 30 psi divided by 14.5 = 2.07, not 2.1. The higher the boost the less accurate the calculation.
  10. Matt, says in an earlier post it is totally stock bottom with 300,000kms and rings and bearing only.
  11. Pretty sure D1 garage have one www.d1garage.com
  12. RIPS, what turbos are you using? also, any chance of a posting up a copy of the dyno? Cheers
  13. Well dont RIPS, and keep it up. Get that 9! IMHO, the two main things that cause problems is detonation and revs. Keep detonation under control with a good tune and adequate fuel, keep the revs close to manufacturers specs and all is good:) Just my 0.02c
  14. If you are after good response and power, with very little lag compared to the stock turbo, I would have thought something like a HKS GT2835, or similar. The 2530 are good too, but I think they are better suited to a 2L. You will most likely need to look at a Z32 AFM, fuel pressure reg and upgrade clutch too.
  15. Also, what are the alternatives?
  16. Is there any way to check this?
  17. I am pretty sure greenline only sell new stuff. to reset the ecu, you go into the 'etc' menu, highlight the reset ecu function, push next button, it will ask you to confirm, push next, then turn the ignition off and on and voila, all done. I would highly recommend getting a copy of the commander pdf off the apexi-usa site. The download is for RX7, but most functions are the same.
  18. OK, if you go the steel wool, good luck. I tried this on rumour and all I managed to do was shoot flaming pieces of steel wool out of the exhaust - was pretty funny actually. If you have the standard Jap type muffler - sounds like you have an N1 type or similar, most will have a small hole right near the tip at the bottom. This is so you can attach a muffler to the exhaust 'for street use', as a loud exhaust should only be used on the track:) Autobahn sell the muffler inserts.
  19. I dont care what anybody else says/thinks, BOVs are a performance mod. A correctly adjusted BOV will reduce lag between gear changes, you cant adjust the stock unit, which is only designed for stock boost. Bottom line, it decreases lag, and will protect the turbo better than a stock one - so is a performance mod. I noticed a definate improvement when I fitted mine and correctly adjusted it. If you dont want to be defected, just make sure you plumb it back.
  20. MattR, that is an interesting point about the cop and dba limits. The only tests conducted to measure noise limits are done from the exhaust of a vehicle under revs, compare the noise of an exhuast brake or air brakes on trucks. Half the problem is that cops go out without facts and slap defects on cars without knowing whether what they are defecting the car for is right or not. They need to be accountable IMHO.
  21. Thanks for the support. A certificate provides a detailed description of the modification, and states that it has been inspected and complies with ADRs. Of course people can change things, but if it is changed it would be apparent. And that is another thing that doesnt sit well with me. If a copper 'thinks' a mod is not roadworthy, he will send you to regency. That, to me, is on par with sending someone to court because they think you may have commited a crime - where is the burden of proof? If you get charged, there must be sufficient evidence that you have commited the crime, not just suspicion that you may have done something wrong - its just not bloody cricket.
  22. I dont call it rice, I call it being a wanker. If you dont have the go, why have the show????? Put the money into mods that improve the performance of the car, dont turn it into a show pony. If its got the go, sure, make it look the part, but otherwise where the hell are your priorities? Imagine if you picked up a nice girl with massive tits, then got her home to find out the fun bags were just padding - you would laugh your arse off. I am the same with cars:p Or old women dressing up as young chicks - it just aint right IMHO. BUT if you got it FLAUNT it - and watch the stock V8 driving boys jaws drop when yo smoke em - sort of adds to the pain when they get wasted by a 'rice boy'. thats just my opinion. It is your car.
  23. I was under the impression that the rods will go in no probs, sorry if it is a bumb steer, cos I am not sure? Either that or team them up with an RB26 crank and bobs your uncle:)
  24. Do these come with all the bits necessary? Also would you be interested in a trade with a brand new in box Greddy white face mech boost guage and cash adj, or Sell the temp guage seperate? cheers Steve
  25. I think Spoolup has some HKS RB26 rods for sale at the moment, about $1750 or thereabouts. Wouldnt have a clue what they are rated at.
