  1. He actually has a 3037S, the S has the split type inducer, as in my avatar. Must ask though, why are you selling so cheap? Is the turbo stuffed. I noticed it had oil and water lines too??? I have one of these turbos on my car, and it cost me alot more than $3700 all up once you include the cost of oil and water lines, manifold, wastegate and dump. This is a bargain if anyone is in the market for one of these (unless of course its rooted:)) Also, what is the turbine housing AR? it should be stamped on the housing. The Pro is internal gated and T3 flange, as its not a pro, it will be GT25 flange - not that it makes much difference if you have a manifold to suit. Perhaps a bit more info about why you are selling, where it came from, condition etc would help?
  2. What state are you in? Would this work if I am in a different state?
  3. Predator, HSK 3037S56T, Dean, you can tune it, as you use the dyno O2 sensor, but you cant run different boost levels and keep the tune correct. Different boost levels can be an advantage when it is raining, or if you are driving in heavy traffic and dont want to do any sudden lane changes. Also it depends on how power is delivered. My turbo is like hitting NOs when it comes on boost, so it is a bit silly running much over 1 bar in traffic, less in the wet. I dont know if BOOSTD has one.
  4. And they are RB30s, extra cubes do make a difference. there is no way you can argue that a good manifold wont deliver benefits.
  5. Miss*33, yes I am bored, I'll stop picking on you now, where's hippy?
  6. Wouldnt hurt:)
  7. But you drive like a nana, I am confused now, you havent been telling pork pies now have you?????
  8. ecenshu, I think you will need to contact dotars for info on whether your car needs to be stocked out??? Either way though, you will need to get the car past regency.
  9. Thanks for the info RIPS, I am a bit speechless too, but I spose you guys have been doing it with skylines a bit longer than us here on the main island:p do you guys have a website? 2fardown, I would imagine it wouldnt cost more than 3-400 tops to send an engine across the channel. Think I will check out that link now:)
  10. Thanks Miss*33, I have ordered a copy. I wonder why the regency guy I spoke to never knew of the existance. And that he couldnt provide any guidance to me, the customer. More points to raise. Now I just need to find out how and why regency apply the rules, as there is so much discrepency between different states, they must have guildlines for the application. Or maybe they dont and this is the problem?
  11. 9krpm, the faster you travel, means the further you move during any give period of time, ie, the distance traveled will increase before you can react. I am not sure if this is the reasoning or not. I could only find reference to a requirement to ensure that brake capacity is not exceeded when the cubic capacity of an engine is increased beyond 155 of the largest displacement engine fitted in that model car, ie, if you owned a CA18 powered S13, then fitted an SR20, you could increase the capacity to 2.3L without doing any brake upgrades, however if you went to 2.4L, you would be required to do testing to ensure braking capacity is not exceeded - this is laid out in the road traffic act.
  12. Oh, and as for investigation, I already have an ear at the AG office, who would has expressed an interest, and has given me pointers to ensure it is investigated. Apparently the consumer commision is on a bit of a 'freedom of information' gig at the moment:D
  13. More power = better acceleration = reduced reaction time = increase braking capacity to compensate. The thing is, I have looked into this extensively, and the only reference I could find to increasing brakes co-incides with increasing capacity. I dont think this is a bad thing, but I dont see why it should cost you 2K+ to have a report drawn up and then have the guys at regency throw their two bobs worth in and fail it because they are in a bad mood. Over east, guys can get a engine swap certified for under $200, brake upgrade, less than $100. I rang a guy in sydney (who is fully certified, and a member of IE Aust, and SAE-A) he quoted me no more than $500 for a car with sus mods, turbo mod, clutch, brakes, cams, plenum, exhuaust, ECU and EBC. And the guys in NSW dont have their certs questioned because they are experts, not the guys doing the examining. Alot of mods can get certs when you go through vehicle inspection stations. WA is a good example, costs $30 for up to 6 mods, $60 for up to 12. The inspection station will look at it, if its all done correctly and nothing is faulty (ie they inspect it) they will issue you with a cert. So when you are pulled ove and a copper says 'that pod doesnt look legal' you pull out the cert, he pulls his head in. Its alot fairer than the system here. I hear what you guys are saying about the legal system. But dammit, I am sick of sitting back whist guys are being raped by these bullshit rules and apparent discriminate defecting without having any bloody knowledge of what they are actually defecting - the burden of proof should be belong to the law, not the individual - and being penalise becuase a cop 'thinks' something 'may' be illegal is totally unnaceptable. And my other main bitch is, if we are expected to comply with these laws - there is a duty to provide copies of the laws to concerned individuals, to do otherwise, AFAIK, is not legal, and these buggers that wont supply the info that they expect people ot comply with should be lined up and taken to task. THEY are not the law, THEY must follow the law like everyone else. If you think this is being excessive, I give you the example of a guy who owns a mechanicaal workshop (names not necessary, but I guarantee you all would know who I am talking about) he told me that he isnt sure, sometimes they pass cars with certain mods, sometimes they dont. Business is also starting to get pissed off.
  14. Interesting that you set up the axle for drift? If you guys are having traction issues, make sure you tilt the cradle back, not forward. Also, using hardmount (alloy) spacers and cutting back the stock bushes will rigidly secure the cradle to the body, and goes yet another step forward in assisting traction and reducing axle tramp.
  15. Dean, the Z32 uses a is the same size as an RB AFM, ie 80mm diameter. The big difference is it allows greater tuning resolution. The RB AFM starts to get close to max voltage (5.1V) at around 190rwkw - this has been my exerience anyways. Not too much of a problem at that stage, but it gets worse as power increases. This is where problems start to arise, as when you tune the car it is off the O2 sensor on the dyno, but the ECU doesnt know what is happening after the afm hits peak flow voltage. If you tuned the car on 1.1bar and had say 220rwkw, the AFM will have hit peak voltage well before the max power has been reached. If you turn the boost down to 1 bar and say 210rwkw, the afm still sees the same 5.1v and still provides the same amount of fuel for the 1.1bar that it was tuned at. Overfueling will follow. If you turn the boost up, well of course you will be under fueling. There are a few more possible flow on issues associated, but you get the idea. Now a Z32 AFM still only reads 5.1V peak, BUT that is at alot higher airflow. So where an RB afm may read 4V, the Z32 only read 3.5V, for 5V on the RB, the Z32 may only read 4.1V - these figures are arbitary and for example only. I originally had my RB afm hit peak voltage at around 190rwkw, I then upgrade to Z32, and had a peak or around 4.2V, with a better tune, managed 203rwkw with 4.4V max. Even now with close to 260rwkw, the AFM still hasnt hit 5.1V, thank god, or my next tune could be messy:)
  16. Can I ask what redline you are running? Also, where is peak torque and what sort of power band do you have? Even better still, do you have a dynograph? Lastly, how does it behave on the street? Cheers Steve
  17. No, they are models specific, for R33 GTSt, you need a power fc to suit R33GTSt - unless you have an auto cos they arent compatible.
  18. The only cutches that I know of that are interchangeable are the R32GTR and R33GTSt. I can only suggest you contact www.greenline.jp If you tell them what sort of clutch you are after, they will check with their suppliers (HKS, Trust, Nismo, OS Giken, etc) and give you a run down of what is available. They are very careful when they sell parts that they are compatible. They didnt want to sell me a Trust Type R as it was for GTR and they knew I had a GTS, until of course I explained it was being custom fitted. Also, you will probably end up with a better quality clutch at a competitive price.
  19. funny enough but no, this was the same guy who told me that ADRs are not made available to the public by transport SA, that they were too complex for me to undertand and that it was his job to interpate them.
  20. Cheeky, Miss*33?
  21. I dont understand why so many people get all sinical. This guy is pushing stock internals - well hey its good news for a lot of people that perhaps were thinking of pushing their car a bit further, but were holding off because they didnt have the internals done? No 10 second car is going to be cheap, but in this case RIPS is using a GTS4 to showcase how a well built RB30 can push alot further than many believe - Good on you RIPS, I like reading about examples like yours, pushing the envelope. Then again, the kiwis have been miles ahead of aust for some time when it comes to highpo cars, plus they cost half the price over there. Bloody import duty. RIPS, werent you selling full RB30 long motor built with RB26head and manifold and plenum for like 3.5k or something? I doubt anywhere in aust would be able to offer that.
  22. hey Hiep, isnt your better half a legal type? Should ask her if she has any thoughts.
  23. I met a guy who had a 454 in a HQ monaro, was putting it over regency and had been told it would be no worries. But I never found out if he did. And Timmmayyy, I did get told that about mods, when I started asking him specifics about mods, he told me to just bring the car down once it is all done.
  24. Perhaps a 'So How Well Does Your Local Inspection Center Know The Rules' article or two? Make it aust wide, with a look at how to go about getting a modified car passed, with lists of goes and no goes. and comparisons between what gets allowed for home grown cars.
  25. Hmm, I dont think it would go down too well if we as forum members try and set them up. But I am not sure, because if an investigative journalist were to do it, that sort of thing is ok???? ZOOM, HPI, SPEED (Nino...hehehe) where are you?????? Anybody here been given contradictory informantion from either police or the regency crew?
