  1. Castrol LSX 85W 140 Repco, etc is the best I have used on and off track (afforability versus performance) and it will keep the diff alot quieter than lighter oils
  2. Need to plug in a consult another way you could try, mark the position of the tps, then very gradually move it and see if the idle comes good - not exact, but will give you an idea if that is effecting it if it makes no difference, return it to the marked position nuts are 7mm
  3. 4-5 seconds? That's getting some pretty serious power down, not eveyone is putting down 400+ in their daily street cars my old 'line was putting down 440rwhp, and it still pulled up fine with decent pads, even punting hard through the Adelaide hills for extend periods, yet it was tame enough that it could be driven by my wife in peak hour traffic no problems (except complaints about the clutch ) all I am saying is, over engineering a daily can take the enjoyment out of a car, it happens so often, and 2k or more could be better spent (IMO)
  4. Seriously, check the tps voltage
  5. 335mm discs, brembos and mu pads - street setup? serious drugs
  6. If you want some hardcore killer brakes, jpc have some mental enless calipers and rotors for around 5k from memory wilwood also do some great setups alot better than GTR brembos out there oops, that's right, were talking about a street setup, sorry
  7. Hi, how much for the front lower contol arms and would you be willing to post pack them to Perth? Cheers Steve
  8. If it isn't vacuum leaks, check the tps should be around .54v
  9. Agree with above, $350 for a front bar is very reasonable, and $100 per guard to blend in is also a good price
  10. Speaking purely from personal experience - on the track (MC and drift) and from street, as well as having owned a few imports and working in mechanical shops both here and in sa R32 GTR sumitomos are the same as 33 gtst sumitomos - exactly R32 Gtst calipers are more than adequate for street and light track work factory pads are ordinary the most common problem I have seen with skyline calipers is that they are not blead properly, and often the brake fluid is not changed as often as it should be giving spongey brake feel I would recommend that before you upgrade to 33 gtst calipers you buy some GOOD quality pads and bleed the brake system - the best way to do the bleed is to do a normal bleed first and then gravity bleed them (just crack the nipple, with a piece of clear line on them, and 99 chances out of 100, you will get small bubbles coming through) makes a massive difference to pedal feel if you get decent pads first, you will not be out of pocket as the pads fit r32gtst and the 33 sumitomos calipers (I.e. They are the same size) - so if you decide you have to upgrade later, you will already have decent pads to use! For pads, project mu B-spec have great initial bite, very progressive, low dust and noise, good heat and fade resistance (rated 0-500) and work great from cold (yes, they are my favourite all rounder, from having tried many different pads) basically, for under $500 you will have a killer setup that will pull the car up quickly, and put your passengers through the windshield if they aren't wearing their seat belt (and you want to of course ) my 2c worth anyhow Steve
  11. Electrical cable termination heat shrink - comes in lots of sizes, fits and doesn't require clamps so looks kinda factory electrical wholesale/retail suppliers - could try dick smith but doubtthey have them used to get them from my old job, so not sure who retails sorry
  12. No, no pics. Pretty straight forward though use the factory shroud as a guide, or just off the rad dimensions, make up a frame from light ply, pine or Mdf then cut same for the thermos tack some speaker cloth to the rad frame and position the thermo fan templates - use a brick or pavers (or similar) to space the thermo frame up from the rad frame and then stretch and tack the cloth in place (not too tight) then just lay several layers of fibre glass resin over the top, and you are done
  13. as stated, you run 1 bar boost, a base pressure of 3 bar is now 4 bar It will easily support 300rwkw, I had 321rwkw at 1.2bar boost without hitting 90% duty cycle on RB25 (with 3kg base fuel pressure - nissan FPR is only 2.55kg btw)
  14. Easiest way is to make shrouds yourself - or go and see any shop that does custom work Or, see KYP, etc to get a new (second hand) shroud for the clutch fan Or, if you only need it for a little while, I could probably let you borrow mine (factory one)
  15. WGMG - jerks sitting in the right lane of the freeway/highway at the same speed as the car next to them - why is it SO f**kING HARD to merge with the traffic on the left and let other cars pass? Anyone else heard of 'drive safe, keep left' - its the polite thing to do, and the LEGAL thing to do (much under enforced road rule - probably because it is difficult to enforce, must keep to left lane at speeds over 90kph without good reason to be in the right lane - that's according to a traffic cop I know anyway) Always alot nicer drive when people just keep left, and are considerate of other road users
  16. Popping on WOT under boost MAY be detonation. Considering your plugs etc are ok, and your spitfire coils are ok, the next place to be looking would be fuel. On a side, it is a bit tough to say, and some people will get upset, but I have seen splitfire coilpacks out of the box that didnt provide spark as well as factory coils - rare, but it does happen. Anyhoo, suggest you take it into Hyperdrive, or another REPUTABLE workshop and get them to check your air fuel mixtures (and fuel pressure) on the dyno ASAP. I have seen a few smashed engines due to fuel pumps getting tired, or injectors getting clogged (when was the last time you changed your fuel filter BTW? and when did you last clean your AFM?). Please just get it checked out to make sure it's safe before you go experimenting - especially if you don't know for sure what it is - better safe than sorry IMO
  17. WTF? how was my post not on topic? How is trying to help someone from possibly making a mistake a bad thing? Here I was thinking the forums were about helping people
  18. guys, think really really carefully before putting a 044 in your car 1/ 044 is good for well over 300rwkw, most engines will need to be fully built before it can stretch this pump to its limits, and be running a BFOT - which is alot more than 99% of gtsts will realise 2/ they are noisy 3/ Be ready to experience fuel surge - they are heavy and move (the whole bracket) when you punt a car hard, even hard street driving can make them move, definately on the track - this will result in you having to open the tank back up and reposition the pump quite regularly, or make sure you have over 1/4 to 1/3 a tank of fuel at all times 4/ they are not an easy fit 5/ they are noisy (put it in twice, cos they really noisy fuel pumps) (yes, I have fitted 044s in tank, the above is from personal experience, and the experience of a couple of mates, and a mechanic that I just didnt when he recommended otherwise) As alternatives - R32 or 33 GTR fuel pumps will support 250rwkw, which is enough for most applications, they are a similar size (to factory) and dont require you to bend the fuel pump bracket just to fit it Also, nismo, tomei etc all make fuel pumps that are similar in size (to gtr pumps) and will flow enough for well over 300rwkw, are alot quieter than 044, wont cause surge problems, fitting problems etc too - but are a bit expensive and will be over-engineering in most cases. (having said they are expensive, I bought a Tomei GTR fuel pump second hand for $200, I tested it, it flowed enough for over 700hp at 3kg base pressure - yet it was quieter than a OEM GTR pump!) If you can find a good one - walbro make a small, light quiet pump that will flow enough for most street applications, (but they don't seem as reliable nowadays as they used to be). I have seen these support up to 300rwkw too, so they do alright If you are not going for big power, give some serious thought to selling your 044, and getting something smaller, lighter, easier to fit and quieter Just my 0.02c
  19. Too many tools in the world - AND WE STILL DON'T HAVE COMPULSORY STERILISATION damnit
  20. Not sure if it is a repeat or not, but just saw tonight that the crew from top gear will have a new GTR (driving it in Japan) on next weeks show - and its a red one, so it will go fast Just thought I would let those know who may be interested (7:30pm SBS)
  21. april, september and december are pretty funny congrats jess - have a drink for me, cos I am old and past clubbing
  22. dont know you, but you drive a 'line so you cant be too bad :-) voted, g/l
  23. f**king useless waste of space money grabbing leaches - aka, government railways parking attendants No parking at station (in bays) so I park on the island - completely off the road, not obstructing anyone, and a get a fine Pricks, get a life you POS parking attendants - we need to get to work too, and its bloody christmas time, and there are piss poor tiny parking stations They all suck balls (big hairy mofos) /rant Next time, I drive into the city and claim the parking back through petty cash - screw the railways, they may get a fine out of me, but they will loose alot more in revenue, wankers
