  6. the independents get their fuel from OS (I believe most of it comes from Indonesia?) Its a weird setup, where BP buys crude from OS - cos its poorer grade than the local crude, and therefore alot cheaper - but BP has a refinery that can use poorer grade crude local oil companies sell their curde OS, cos its better quality, and more easily refined in countries with 'lesser' technology, and they sell it for a premium because its of higher grade (australia has one of the best crudes in the world) then independent fuel companies buy it in All major fuel companies buy their fuel from BP, but BP dont sell 98 to anyone else. And for those thinking they are getting better fuel from BP, think again. Fuel that is sold to other brand service stations is inspected and must be of high tolerance - the other companies put in their own 'secret' additives, then sell it to the public Any fuel that is cracked with tolerances that are still 'within spec' but may be close to other companies tolerances is distributed to BP services stations. Except 98 of course. ****Caveat: This was all accurate as of a couple of years ago, as explained to me by a BP employee****
  7. I cant wait to see this thing carving up barbegallo for the Drift Australia round in feb, I just hope it can get the tyres to last more than 1 lap
  8. This thing is mad http://www.westdrift.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=905
  9. the committee on www.westdrift.com are looking at doing one of these pretty soon will keep you guys updated if you like?
  10. When I was in SA, I used Mobil 98 a few times (noting peak say its a mobil product), and the car seemed to go better than BP most of the time having said that, sometimes knock went up - well only once, cos after that, I stopped using the stuff. I asked my brother (who is a petrochemical engineer, and process supervisor in an oil refinery, BP) - he told me that only BP crack their 98 at close to 98 ron - as they are the only ones that use the technology to do so (low sulphur, blah, blah, blah). He also told me that others providing 98 ron must do so by means of an additive (some pure hydrocarbon, such as tolulene for example) which works well, but the downside is that it can 'go off' as the additives will evaporate over time, causing the RON to drop. BP fuel on the other hand doesnt have the tendancy to degrade as rapidly over time, due to its manufacturing process. He also suggested that the reason my car seemed to go better most times is in all likely hood they would bump the RON above 98 to compensate for its tendency to reduce slowly/slightly over time. So bottom line, its good, just be wary of getting a 'bad batch' of fuel. May never happen, but if it does it could hurt. I have always stuck with BP since (maybe due to my paranoia) and havent had issues of bad batch of fuel since.
  11. Or, just treat them the way you would like to be treated yourself - easy
  12. ROFL, its funny that people still think cops make money off fines and/or defects Fines go to general revenue so pollies can go on junkets, not cops doughnut fund I know a cop who was reprimanded for letting someone off for speeding - the jerk made a complaint. He never attempted to go lenient again (go figure) and stuck 100% to the book I also know cops that when they put a uniform on, turned into absolute twats. A friend of many years (who was in traffic) said just dont do laps, or burnouts up at kings park, and you should be fine. Seems I never get hasselled (unless I do things that deserve it ) You win some, you loose some
  13. Tom9999, that's the one, I expecially like it because it doesnt appear to have any affiliation with a particular manufacturer (or advertiser), and they test REAL power gains, as well as filtration. Nor sure about centre lines, but bigger lift and longer duration. I saw it on a japanese website that had a comparison of nissan engines' cams over several models...
  14. BOV, from the factory, is only there to keep the emissions gods happy Cefiro, as pointed out, started production earlier than R32, so different emissions rules when it was designed That's also why the Ceffy RB20 has bigger cams than the R32 RB20 For maximum 'dose' noise, use a hardpipe between the inducer and the afm, also, the bigger the cooler, the louder it will be Apexi pods can be bought for $98 delivered from CJ Motor (a nissansilvia.com sponsor), straight bolt on for RB20/25 and Z32 AFM. I have seen an independant review between apexi, blitz sus, hks mushroom and K&N - apexi had best flow and much better filtering than the others. Well worth the money
  15. somthing aint normal - 210rwkw on 10psi? thats like 0.7 bar at the end of the day though, dyno is just there for tuning. I wouldnt worry about a power fc at this stage though, probably not much point if you are making that sort of power, I havent seen much more power out of a stock turbo even with power fc
  16. absolutely wrong - you can block the pcv on a turbo car, as the gasses just pass through to the catch can and then vent to atmo, or are plumbed back to the turbo>afm pipe If you block the pcv, you may need to adjust the AAC valve so the car will idle correcltly though RB engines breathe a fair bit, using reducers on the pipes to the catch can, or after the catch can, can cause crank case pressurising problems - but will probably depend on the degree of blockage, how fresh the engine is, and how much power you are making best not to have any reducers.
  17. From the Westdrift website The day is split into 2 halfs, the first with an instructor the second an all out drift practice so if for some reason your not keen on having an instructor you can still go out by yourself and enjoy the Collie racetrack! for more info please checkout the official post at: http://www.westdrift.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=740
  18. Why not mention them? At the end of the day, quality control, R&D, manufacturing standards and material specification is important - China and Taiwan CAN make quality, but it costs more. From what I understand, very few coilovers are manufactured in Japan any more - its interesting though that Bilstein have some products produced in japan - according to my sources. And I am pretty sure HSD are manufactured in ROK, not Taiwan/China
  19. Probably have practice on the first day, then warm up, qualifying and comp on the next day These events go off - some big dollars go into this, its a very proffesional televised sportsing series
