everyday when i try to get off ive got house wives, old men, young kids, japanese guys with weird haircuts and lots of silver jewellery pushing to get on while i stand there thinking WTF? if you look in theyre eyes you can see what theyre after and all it is is an empty seat. it happens everyday and thats why it pisses me off.

pic one.. about a gear shift lock i guess. maybe says when your gonna move push the brake and then use the shifter... dont know the 2 kanji before kudasai though.. __saku. pic two. says this car is equipped with a turbo and the oil should be changed every 5000kms or 6 months. also says not to use an oil under 5W-30 but to use nissan factory turbo x oil. pic three. top left starts with things to be carefull of before driving.. then theres a cluster of unknown kanji which i guess says this car has a something something *maybe catalytic converter but definately something to do with the exhaust*attached and you should read the intruction manual carefully and pay special attention to the following 2 points. point 1.. if the exhaust temp light comes on while driving you should slow down until it dissapears.. or if your stopped and it comes on after revving the engine you should lower the revs of the engine. point 2.. if the exhaust temp comes on and stays on then you should take your car to the shop for a checkup. RIGHT HAND SIDE COLUMN basically a checklist of things to do before driving.. check the following.. feel of the break peddel, break reserve/resevoir tank level??, park brake lever feel, tyre pressure etc, if theres any water or oil or petrol leaks??, condition of the fan belt, idicators working or not and clean or not, that the number plate is secure and clean??, rearview mirror visibility??, shit you were worried about after the day befores perusiling?? number 2/3 got me a little but basically saying to write down the results of the check and make sure you hold on to that paperwork as you might need it sometime.. rough without a dictionary but thats the jist.

ive been done 4 times now here. 1. parking ticket on an empty dead end street just near oosanbashi in yokohama at 3am in the morning. parked for 30 mins and bingo a 15000yen fine. 2. driving to work and parking in back streets for a year, i finally came back to my car and found a ticket for 15000yen again so started catching the train now instead. 3. illegal right hand turn. cop was in a car going the opposite direction and he got out on foot so i kept going intending on not stopping but saw another cop car further up in traffic so thought ahh and stopped. 7000yen 4. this is my NNNIIIICCEE story.. drifting in kawasaki at a place called higashi-oogi-jima.. had a couple of run ins there before but successfully eluded capture with the heavy right foot technique. Although this time i was down there with a bad clutch so just watching.. i parked on the side of the road and was sitting drinking a juice when some kids on scooters came over and started chatting.. after a bit of watching the drifting and having a chat the kid says hey thats strange theres a cop car just parked in the side street there, so i look over my left shoulder and think to myself HOMETIME!! so i casually got up and walked to my car, i get in and do a u-turn to drive away from the cop car and go home.......THEN...... cop cars 5 in front and 5 behind come out and block the road off and im like AHHH FCUK.. but i wasnt drifting so i thought no problems here.. then i notice a whole bunch of ppl, like 20 or so in plain clothes pop-up out of no where with video cameras pointing at my car and they see me n start with the GAIJIN GAIJIN stuff... im like ok and they direct me to park my car... THIS IS WHERE THINGS BECAME EXCITING... they ask for my license which was an international at the time.. so i whip it out of the glove box where it has layed dormant for the whole time i had my car, but as im handing it over i notice the expirary date was 7 days earlier!!!!! so now im shitting bricks but the officer was so angry and just shouting TICKET!! 2 TICKETS!! at me that i thought i was safe and he wouldnt check the date being so angry and all... i was right!!! BUT step in undercover calm police woman who takes the license and gives it a good look, im trying to be casual just as i hear her say to the other guy "kigen ga kirechatteruyo" "mu-menkyo , mu-menkyo" so im thinking GOODNIGHT... the conversation then went something along the lines of... her: nihongo hanasen no? me: huh? *with my best i dont understand face on* her: namae wa? me: daniel her: nihon ni doregurai iru no? me: umm about 2 years her: kono kuruma wa anata no mono desuka? me: yes its my car her: nihongo wakaru jyan! me: ahh e. e. e. mi.. mi.. mimi wa d d d dai jyouuu bu but i cant speak *while shaking my ear since i didnt have a valid license and i was making conversation difficult in an attempt to be let go they took me to the station... a cop needed to drive my car so they sent one guy over but he was scared and said he coulnt drive it so then another guy did... got to the station at which point they wanted to contact my wife (japanese) to see if i could or couldnt speak japanese but luckily i shot of a phone mail saying "big trouble, i dont speak japanese".. i hear the police woman taking to my wife on the phone asking if i could speak japanese and that i seemed to understand but only answered in english.. luckily the wife played along, but i ended up in the station until morning when my wife came to translate my statement.. the statement was fun as they were trying really hard but i wouldnt speak any japanese, the wife came and they said to translate the japanese statement they wrote into english for me.. i already knew what it said and so i coached my wife through it and we got out of there with a be careful and your ticket will be in the mail..... they said they were giving me 2 tickets for "illegal u-turns" and one for " no license" with a combined total of about 150,000yen which had me worried BUT... THE GOOD NEWS.. to date i havent recieved anything in the mail!!!!!!!!!!!!! long post sorry, but this is my best ticket story from japan..

it is shonan and from there your not looking at too far too hakone which is known for accidents during school holidays.

you basically need a person in japan to do it for you for a couple of reasons. 1 . most of the sellers wont ship internationally. 2. when you buy something you must write a comment about the transaction and if stuff went smoothly, this kinda creates your reputation as good or bad. 3. banking would be a pain in the ass. i guessing if you could speak, read and write japanese then you could do it from aus but it would be a hassle so yeah my advice is going through someone here in japan.

say you were towing it to *insert place* because *insert reason* but u had troubles with the car that was doing the towing so u decided to leave it there and get it in the morning.... simple as pie

for those who asked about yankee plates. normal plates have the one hiragana character next to the big numbers where as a yankee plate has a * Y *. i think these are for on base residents maybe. i live near a base in kanagawa and see the yanks driving around all the time.

i always thought the japlish team names were cool cause they didnt have a good command of english to come up with something more logical.. i think a bunch of australians with a jap style english car name is a bit tacky... i was always keen on a club name in japanese... i always liked YAKAMASHII!!!
