It is with great regret that I announce a loss in the family.... Big Red's RB25 Passed away ealier today while trying to be revived from an incident at Sandown last weekend, unfortunately it couldn't be saved. It seems the oil pump was just not strong enough. Anyway it was a good motor and has spent many years being thrashed about. RIP RB25. hehe Have a nice day... Yes I'm bored, is it home time yet?

HAHA!

You didn't convince him, he'll use any opportunity he can get to see me, racing is just an added bonus and an excuse to annoy me all weekend!
-
Congratulations Jack, that's fantastic news. Glad to hear Mother and baby are doing well! Very funny Age on the Carbon Fibre Nappies call!!!

I got a quote of Autotrans, it was like $900... Melbourne to Gold Coast. That's massively different. Maybe the costs to Brisbane are heaps cheaper than Gold Coast.

I use a wire cable attached to the frame of my bonnet which hooks to the radiator support. It was made from parts at bunnings for about $25 and works a treat.... Alternatively just tie a thin belt through the latch of the bonnet and the radiator support. It's really easy! If you're in a new car you may not need a secondary bonnet restraint, check the sup regs. I've only seen bonnet pins on Carbon Fibre bonnets that have no normal locking mechanism.

Ahhh that makes perfect sense!! Thanks for clearing that up.

Can you please repeat that in english? Sorry dude but I can't understand what you mean....

I just had my car shipped from Melbourne to Gold Coast. When shopping around, I found the rates for Melbourne - Brisbane were the same or a bit cheaper than Melbourne - Gold Coast. All of the Transporters go straight to Brisbane and then they truck the cars back down to the gold coast. The best rate I could find was $715 Incl GST with CEVA Logistics (ex TNT). The car has to be 6 inches high all the way around (so we had to jack the car up a bit at the back). It took 6 working days, I dropped it off last Tuesday and it arrived two days ago. I was really happy with them, their was also a Lotus Exige on the truck with my car. You should also ask them about putting the Chev in a container, rather then on an open transporter which they can do aswell. They also have enclosed transporters which would be a good option for you. Ceva's number is: 13 22 77 Website: www.cevacarcarrying.com.au If you're interested in an enclosed motorsport carrier (which is usually better for classic/restored cars), try Alans Unique Car Carriers they use enclosed Motorsport transporters, they quoted me $1450 from Melbourne to Gold Coast. This is a prestige service, they only ever take three cars on the motorsport carrier, so it's all quality. Alans Unique Car Carriers number is: 0418 226 696 Website: www.uniquecarcarriers.com.au I also got quotes from other carriers like www.movingcars.com.au They basically get the best rate from all the carriers and then book it in for you, I found them quite competitive but not as good as Ceva. I also found the rates for the standard open carriers with major transport companies varied between $715 - $1000 incl GST, depending on who you call. Oh and I booked Lil Blu on a depot to depot drop, which means I dropped her off at the Transport company office in Melbourne and picked her up from the transport company office on the gold coast. It costs more to get depot to house deliveries or house to house deliveries. Lil Blu is loving it up here! So am I, it's sooo sunny!

So we just got home after a big three days at Dutton. Final Results wont be available until we go to the presentations tonight. But here is a quick overview... Day 1 Wet Conditions (Evo Weather!), extra events added into the schedule. Finished like this: Thomson Newton Team 1st Outright Newton 1st Co Driver Outright Thomson Top 5 Driver Outright Pete Blythe 1st easily in Rookie class and in the Top 10 Teams Overall With Jeff Beable. Snowman and Paris also finished top 10 in Teams Overall. Day 2 Mainly Wet conditions Finished like this: Thomson Newton Team 2nd Outright Newton 1st Co Driver Outright Thomson Top 5 Driver Outright Peter Blythe Still 1st Rookie easily... Top results Pete! You ROSK Snowman and Paris 4th Team Outright. Day 3 Some wet but mainly dry conditions. Results to come tonight, We are guestimating that Thomson Newton will finish in 2nd or 3rd place outright team. Snowman and Paris may have come up and will probably claim either 2nd or 3rd. Beumont and Gazzard will win in their cheater evo. Peter Blythe had mechanical problems and only finished three of the six events (drive shaft) today. He may still claim the Rookie outright trophy. Well done boys, you all drove sooo well and you have made SAU proud!! Not many errors at all. Some highlights: No Cones Norton McNortons Drive Thru Freezing Weather Night Super Stage with free Cheeseburgers and coffeess... Thanks to Rachels great idea!! I had to tow a smashed Evo 7 home from Winton, the poor guy had a big hit in the wet. Bec and Bris staying out till 5am Saturday morning (lucky you wearn't driving this year Brisby!!) That's all for now, off to presentations.... Well Done again guys!!

Micolour Sau-vic Deca Motorkhana - Sat 3rd May 2008
MissJuz replied to Scotsman's topic in Archived Events
So sad I can't be there, it's the first one i've missed since 2005... i'm in Sydney for work. Even though I won't be there 'Lil Blu' will be there representing me, i'm sure Aaron and Sean will have fun driving her, she's been off the track for too long! Have fun Lil Blu! And everyone else! -
Big Red = Scary. I went in the passenger lap and it was a handful to say the least, I do not know how he manages to keep that thing straight enough to get decent times. Newton is currently on a flight to QLD, but thinks there is a second in set up and also a second in brakes. So thats two seconds which should get him to 120's maybe, on a good day, if fences don't jump out at him! Also that's a big maybe until more testing is done. There were a couple of teething issues but certainly nothing major which is good. He has some incar footage which is pretty cool, it reminds me of the incar footage of a very well known Silver R32 GTS T, and looks like a handful at times. And as for the jokes of Big Red doing a 119.7, first Brisby sent the message to Scotsman saying "Newton just did a 119.7", Scotsman arrived at the track and believed the message and congratulated Adam, but he had a very sad look on his face so I told him we were joking. Secondly, Scotsman sent snowy the same message, jokes all round. I still think Big Red needs some air horns the same as the Dukes Of Hazzard 'General Lee' and they should be tooted whenever he passes a GTR!! hehe All in all a good day!

I'm coming with you, but you already knew that! Last time I was at Sandown with the HSV Club Lil Blu had a wild ride into the wall, oops!!
-
My recommendations: Flower Drum - City. Awesome food & Serive, expensive, book early or you may not be able to get a seat. Silks - City. Awesome food & Service, expensive. David's - Prahran. Great food & service (not quite as good as the other two), reasonably priced.
-
Grey for sure, easy decision.

Very Funny Gadget! There was someone filming all day under the Ford sign on the skidpan, I'm not sure who it was though because they were always too far away. Do you have any footage from Group 1 on the skidpan in the morning? If you have any of Big Red could you let me know so I can get a copy!
