  1. Hey dude, I own a Nissan S15 (Two Guys from Tokyo Initial D Edition) and I have had no such problems with my instrument cluster. The cluster is 11 years old (it is the stock standard cluster) and it still illuminates 100%. I also don't have any flywheel rattle and it is still the stock standard flywheel.
  2. There is a very well engineered bypass that is one of my favourite roads...and it is relatively new as well It is a bypass from East Maitland (you turn right at the melbourne street lights, then left just past the United Petrol Station) and its a nice engineered road that goes through to Bolwarra...I know this because I live in Bolwarra (^^♪ I've been too singleton a few times, there is a section of road on that highway there where a Mobile Speed Camera is often perched.
  3. Didnt know you owned an R32? What type of R32 is it?
  4. Benji aka Mr Wakefield Warrior Goes to Wakefield for the first time SUMMARY Benji Lap Time: 1:19 -Great day. -Third or fourth session I ran a 1:19 seconds with the stock standard S15 (my dad timed me) and that was with a FULL TANK OF PETTY which weighed me down a bit I think. Luckily I left the boot carpet, plywood board and spare tire out of the car...also removed the front floor mats. After that, didn't really get timed. -I felt I was improving throughout the day whilst the car began deteriorating a little due to the brakes. -Met a bunch of cool people during the day. -Got some good onboard footage of me at Wakefield. - I had about 9 sessions, after the 9th session I had I started hearing a weird metallic noise....and basically my rear brake pads were completely decimated and metal on metal. I was wondering why on my last session I wasn't entering corners with the same precision. -On the way home, Dad was driving with the now metallic rear brakes....and anyway, detoured for fuel near liverpool, and then GPS took us this backway instead of the m7 where we must of got every red light. There was a fair few people beeping their horn etc, whilst my dad slowed down using gear changing (like ffs, the lights red why does anyone car how fast you get to the traffic light lol). -Managed to get home okay though, rear rotors are shot to pieces though... soooo Slotted rotors, new hardware kits, and brake pads is on the menu SLIGHT MISHAPS -Pushed it a bit too hard in the 7th session and floated off the track on the right hand corner before the hairpin, I made the mistake of easing off the throttle when I thought I was going to exit too wide and floated into the grassy patch (stopped pretty easily with no damage to the car). LOLS -Got a little bit sideways around one of the left hand corners....usually I power out of the corner with 3rd....but felt like a bit of fun so downshifted into second (checked my mirrors and no traffic) and then planted the throttle and initiated a power over drift for approximately one second, before quickly correcting it before it got to out of hand.
  5. I honestly wish I had a Toyota Supra RZ 1996 or 1997 facelifted model (non vvt-i) in black.... And Ruxis, I've already bought some coilovers haha, waiting on them to come from Japan!
  6. What coilovers did you end up getting Matt?
  7. The VZ commodore berlina is always good to go... (^^♪
  8. I'd take a heavily worked R34 GT-R or Toyota Supra RZ over an exotic. Sorry, but the lamboghini adventor is just plain ugly. Looks like some kid has gone and cut some cupboard then stuck it into a car shape. Anyway, would be the best just destroying exotic ferraris/lambos in a supra or skyline and seeing the looks of embarassment on their face..
  9. Looks like a woman has been killed in car accident at industrial drive in Mayfield. http://www.theherald...sh/2630296.aspx
  10. Just checked carsguides to make sure I hadn't calculated it wrong...turns out what I said was about right http://www.carsguide.com.au/search/specs-search/?&Ns=pRSS_SortDate%7C1&N=4294967154+4294962594++490+4294965960 Anyway, I think if you were to get stuck into it and come on boost frequently then fuel consumption would go wayyyy up.
  11. Literally lol'ed IRL at the taking a poo before driving part. The S15 got around 7.5L/100kms when my dad drove it home from Sydney rather tentatively. The SR20DET combined with the S chassis is the ultimate combination for performance on a budget (^_-)-☆ . The Toyota Supra would be the ultimate 6 cylinder performance car/budget supercar due to the rear wheel drive powertrain and 3.0 litre race inspired 2JZ which is basically a torque monster.....R32/33/34 GTR are also on par in performance I'd say, albeit way more expensive to maintain due to the higher revving engine (RB26) and all wheel drive powertrain.
  12. Skylines are cool but cost wayyy too much to maintain for me to be able to afford. Whilst they have more torque, also less fuel efficient!! The carpet was taken out of the boot in the rear so pretty stealthy and completely legal modification! Was tempted to take out the rear seat though but once I saw 2 bolts clamping the rear seat that idea quickly went out the window (^^♪ Thinking I'm happy with the weight reduction. Anyway, just realised I'm rambling again. Back on topic =)!
  13. Yeah dude, I always end up rambling when I am on uni holidays. Will be sure to start a build thread once my first batch of parts come from Japan (^_-)-☆ Also have a set of Kumho Ecsta XS (KU36) tires and a 1.0kg dry powder extinguisher waiting to be fitted. Stripped out the carpet in the rear of the S15 in order to counteract the 1.0kg weight gain of the fire extinguisher which will be mounted near the centre console (^^♪ I didn't manage to get the two pieces of carpet from the rear quarter panels as there was a big clip on each one which I couldn't manage to get off. Also took out the spare tire.
  14. Yeah... I had my wake-up call in January...I'm also very lucky to be here as well. As for Mum's car LOL. I am trying to convince her to sell the Commodore Berlina (which will command a premium in Maitland), and get a mint condition freakin' Supra RZ imported from Japan (which will hopefully mainly sit in the garage and eventually I'd be able to buy it off her). She does like the idea but thinks it will be too hard to sell a car. Anddd my dad is driving my S15 to Wakefield for trackschool trackday on the 25th then I will be driving around the track. Hopefully John Boston sits in with me so I can learn as much as possible. I think it was D_I_F who predicted I'd get half way around the track before I fly off, hopefully I stay on the ground. (^^♪
  15. I think the problem is that most people don't realise the severity of what can happen when driving at high speeds whether it be in a high performance car, or any car for that matter. A residential area is definately not the place to go fast, especially when other cars are around and other people are in your car. It's not until something goes wrong that people get a big wake up call and realise they have to pull there head in, albeit some people will never learn. It's a shame that the skyline driver choose the wrong place to try and exploit the performance of his car and put other people in danger. I am very cautious now when I drive on public roads due to my previous experience as I have learned you are not only driving for yourself, but you're looking out for every other driver (who could well be an idiot and doing the wrong thing) on the road. I have learnt that while a track day costs a fair bit of money, at least I will be able to enjoy testing the performance of my car in a safe environment.
  16. LOL haha, the one time I don't go on SAU while I'm at work and I miss out on someone getting flamed other than myself. Any summaries with regard to the content in the threads?
  17. im at wakefield on the 25th and got work on the 26th. Won't be able to make it guisssssee.
  18. I think its around $300 (excluding shipping) for the oil pan from who I can get it off. Heres a link to it. http://www.rhdjapan....-pan-sr20-63567
  19. Ahh I see. Well when I get the money next thing on the to do list will be the oil temp/water temp gauges, oil cooler & filter relocation kit, radiator and the upgraded tomei n2 oil pan. Really think I need to upgrade the exhaust system as well...will gain a few psi of boost if I do that. As for the mod bug, went ahead with ordering the suspension parts as the struts are leaking and the springs do not match the struts very well. Also, the wheel alignment is hard to set up without the aftermarket arms. Going to the track day with the car completely stock though except for the semi slicks (hope the stock exhaust doesnt give me any problem due to restriction). Will do a cool down lap for sure, and leave the engine idling for a good 5-10 mins after I come off the track just to let everything cool. Yeah don't worry I listen to what Eric says as he knows what he is talking about, I haven't done any power modifications yet. I was thinking of upgrading the exhaust system but I dont have the money at the moment (this was only to try help the engine breath better as there is wayyyy too much backpressure with the stock system). With the S15, my main aim is response, handling and long life for the car.
  20. I have a ghost story...will share tomorrow.
  21. Yeah dude so true, I unintentionally end up rambling. Its the same when it comes to me making decisions, takes me about 10 x longer than a normal person to make a decision on something. Then when I make the decision I am usually unsure whether I've made the right choice. Something i need to grow out of really. As for the engine strain...very valid points. I agree. I was hesistant of bringing the s15 to the texi mainly due to the oil reason, as an inherent problem with the sr20det is that oil starvation can occur most often due to the design of oil pan as it doesnt hold enough oil and can result in drop in oil pressure etc etc then the engine sh*ts itself. EDIT: probs time for me to stay out of the thread now, dont want to derail it.
  22. Looks like an orange marshmellow. Glad I didn't take the S15 to the texi and break something. Do not have the money for repairs as just have bought HKS hipermax III coilovers, Ikeya formula rear camber arms, ikeya formula castor rods, ikeya formula toe arms. Have to pay shipping still so kind of broke atm. Bought the semi-slicks (kumho ecsta xs 225/50/16R) and 1kg ABE fire extinguisher (havent got the bill for these yet) so hopefully theyll be installed by the time the track day comes around on the 25th. Going to mount the fire extinguisher on the passenger side near the centre console. Was thinking in front of my seat but then thought against it as my mum sometimes uses the car. Anyway, as for the texi do you guys think the short runs actually put more strain on the engine and driveline to the sort of stop start nature of the texi? I mean, youd be braking at the texi a lot more than the track right so more wear and tear on brakes? It seems a lot of peoples cars have failed whose I didnt think would fail considering the build quality (e.g. matts 370rwkw r34 and lukes r32 gtr). Still looked like an awesomely fun day though. So in saying that...I think wakefield might be a tad more easy on the S15 due to the fact I'll be going flat out most of the way around and staying in a power band if that makes sense? E.g being in 2nd/3rd gear most of the way around except for the straight. But I'm still worried about going to wakefield in case of mechanical failure as I do not have the tools or the know-how to fix anything on the day.
