  1. did some ringing around this week with insurance companies mentioned in this thread and this "classic" car insurance (as opposed to shannons) seems a bit more restrictive. Shannons will do exceptions for under 25, while none of those companies will. I got declined from a few of them for receiving 3 minor speeding fines in a 2 year period. RACV classic didnt want to insure unusual/rare cars under 15 years old. Im not surprised but it shows how much more flexible shannons can be. probably with modifications too.
  2. gogomobile
  3. would take a 30 over a 35. (unless i could sell 35 and use money to get something else) 35 is like those massive NFL players that a fat and chunky but still can outrun most people.
  4. you have to get the keys cut first. THEN it will be able to open stuff.
  5. you're right. the one i have is 12v rechargable battery. comes with powerpoint and car charger, cost me $48 or something.
  6. yeah thats the deal breaker for me. portable so i can use it at work plus in tight spots. those magnetic LED torch/bar things are super handy for cars, kinda like: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/72-LED-Powered-Mechanics-Magnetic-Hanging-Trouble-Work-Light-Bar-Lamp-Useful-/231295295853?pt=AU_Sport_Camping_Hiking_Lamps_Torches&hash=item35da46216d
  7. if she was from any other Aus state sure, but in Vic where the girls crack the shits for under 5km/h is a bit harsh.
  8. RACV classic car insurance rejected me because I've had 3 speeding fines in the last 2 years. thats cool, theyre insurance is shit anyway.
  9. Just called them, no one under 25. no exceptions.
  10. daily driven + under 15 years old + is it garaged? = i highly doubt it. sorry mang. can always try though
  11. i use this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10W-Rechargeable-LED-Flood-Work-Light-Portable-Caravan-Camping-Black-Yellow-/310876695793?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item4861b1ecf1 do recommend. same one as aldi stock sometimes.
  12. "will make 300kw easy" then: "-got fitted z32 and nistune at 4bfabrications hit 266rwkw at 21psi, 230rwkw at 17psi" why would he keep dropping the price if he's getting issues "kinda" fixed but still wants to sell? good price though, at least you can test drive it now 11k for undriveable car. good one.
  13. just an update on compliance... Autoproject from Braeside, VIC are complying my gloria once it arrives. $2500 for compliance and charging me $500 for import approval application. I dont really trust them and they're communication is bit sketchy but dont really have a choice at the moment. we'll see what happens. in regards to CVT: buy from here http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/onlinestore/item/10000682/ $850 delivered. less than 2 weeks delivery. trying to source a service kit from cvt.co.nz im hoping that with some TLC and maintenance/correct information I can restore faith in the CVT's in Aus, after someone here was very vocal about their experience (which could just be bad luck and a reliance on workshops/misinformation)
  14. I know theres a few extroid CVT threads around but ill post in this one... 12L of KTF-1 CVT oil shipped from Japan for $850 (total price, including shipping, tax etc. wasnt listed as dangerous goods) the tins bend very easily if not using the handle to pick up, so dont be surprised if they arrive with a few dents. they seem strong enough to not pierce unless really hit. bought from here: http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/onlinestore/item/10000682/ emails were mostly in Japanese but it was easy to deal with them. just give them name, address and method of shipping, they'll email you the total price and I paid with credit card. took under 2 weeks to arrive. cvt.co.nz were also helpful and want $79 for CVT service kit (gasket + seal) however he isnt replying to my emails any more (maybe because i told him I was buying the KTF-1 oil from somewhere else? i dunno) I'm still asking around in Melb to see who wants to service it.
  15. ill see you at heathcote birds... sometime in the future.
  16. fixed. you should jump on it odie. now that R33 isnt a daily...
  17. i cant believe i missed this thread: http://www.sau.com.au/forums/topic/447336-nrma-vintage-and-classic-insurance/page-5 I might give http://enthusiast.com.au/, http://www.racv.com.au/wps/wcm/connect/racv/Internet/Primary/insurance/car+insurance/veteran,+vintage+_+classic and http://www.lsvinsurance.com.au/ a call... see if they'll do the pulsar (16 years old wew) or consider a personal import a classic if under 15 years...
