  1. I own neither a GTR or a TT Supra So can't comment, I drive a gtst and would run a TT but unless he was stock and I had mods galore(hehe which I don't) he would have to be a crap driver to loose. From what I’ve read the Supra engine out of the factory is a stronger built one to that of the GTR. But saying that reading up on many tuners comparisons of the two engines they would still take the RB26 due to it being a race bread engine. Say what you want a GTR is a car built for the track that you can own and drive on the street, while a Supra is a sports car that can be transformed into a car for the track. Pure and simple. Just look at the size of the factory intercoolers you get on a Supra, its those shoddy ones in front of the wheels. The GTR comes with one of the best out of the factory intercoolers. Even the standard breaks (i heard don't quote me on this one) aren't in the same league as the standard GTR items. Thus it shows one is a purpose built race car and the other a great sports car. And don't compare a race car ability on the track to that of a sports car based on someone’s inability to drive it the way it was designed to be driven. That’s an utter load of crap. -Dan
  2. Ohh ok..Thanks But is that the only difference? That wouldn't account for 20 bucks in value? I heard the 8100 is more for track use and the 4100 for street? Does that make sense to anyone.. -Dan
  3. Im a bit confused Why would u say the 8100 is better. I've recently put in turbolight 4100 for the second time and besides haveing really low oil pressure at idle (which is worrying me a bit) it runs smoothly. Isn't 8100 a thicker oil? -Dan
  4. Mate don't give me that aussie cabs=million mile crap. :bs!: 1. They’re serviced like clockwork and are driven granny style. (Don't see many cabbies doing track work on their days off) 2. I do taxi driving part time and I’ve driven a Toyota van with 800000 on the clock and its still got another 200000 left in it easy. Plus it hauls up to 10 drunks day in day out, instead of the usual 5 for the sedan and has half the engine of a ford or holden. 3. With a full proof service history and the type of driving a taxi does there is no reason why any Japanese car couldn't pull a 1000000 in its lifetime. And another thing when I was doing my taxi course a whole batch of new BA Falcons failed to pass their first mandatory pits check > One main reason was rusted chasses among other technical problems = a lot of pissed off cabbies. And believe me it wasn't just one car but more than half the batch. -Dan
  5. hehe torque is good mate.....but so are revs! 1000hp nissan engines usually rev past 10000rpm (Marios GTR redline exceeds 12500rpm) Imagine standing next to that howl! I know what u mean though..good to c ppl try new things. Good on ya! But... Long live the RB King -Dan
  6. In keeping with 15 year old technology you have to include the Liberty RS. WRXs older bro. I test drove one b4 i opted for the r33 and was really impressed. My g/f even thought it FELT faster than the r33. Thus in comparing a r32 gtst to a RS (same engine as the wrx EJ20T) its a close call. Wrx vs GTR no one car is better than the other...completley different cars!!! And even my r33 gtst on paper is just 10kws and 10nm (roughly) over the RS and bout even 0-100..and it has 4wd. I love my skyline ...but sometimes on wet days i wish i had a subi. -Dan
  7. Well it goes the other way too. Some guy in perth (f*** knows what car) old V8 type is removing his modified V8 for a 1000hp nissan engine imported from Japan. Its for the 14 mile ofcourse but it shows that the RB engine is well regarded...even in the V8 world. Torque is overrated ...u can have a million pounds of torque but without rotation it means squat. Want torque ...get a tractor. -Dan
  8. mine cost me $800..3" mild steel..mandrel bent and stainless muffler and 3" cat. U gotta shop around cuz mild steel u can get for a good price. -Dan
  9. hey, Is it the same for the R33's? -Dan
  10. You guys a legends...! Hope it works. Thanks mate for sharing it. -Dan
  11. This thread did start of with the tuning potential of the XR6T. In that case there is only one fact that can put an end to all the bickering. As stated by Mario (GTR700) www.exvitermini.com ... "Show me another production car engine that is capable of generating and sustaining over 500BHP per litre of displacement on gasoline." He's proved the RB26dett of doing just that with his GTR700. Yes it may be the extremities when it comes to mods but it shows how (possibly) the two engines would stack up. As so far I haven't heard of a 4LT XR6T producing and sustaining over 2000BHP. It’s been more than 10 years now since the GTR raped the Australian Touring Car Series; they're still trying to forget! Let the Ford boys have their day…it won't last long. Just wait the 2 and half years and we'll get our R35 GTR to silence the critics.. once again. Fords may have the straight-line speed but we’ve got 4wd (not me I’ve got a gts-t, but one day …and we still own the track. -Dan
  12. Yeah as said b4 might be overfilled and its coming out the bleeder. When you drive the oil gets blown down and may look like its coming out of the sensor. The bleeder is situated at the top of the box. It may also take a while for all the oil to come out, so if you wipe it once after a while it may appear again. Same thing happend to me and thats what the mechaic told me...but to be sure get it checked out anyways. -Dan
  13. Yeah same thing happened to me Overfilled my box and after driving it looked like it was leaking from the side sensor. Took it to a mechanic and he told me it was the bleeder from the top of the box letting out excess fluid...sometimes it takes a while to rid of all the fluid from the bleeder and when you wipe it it might come out some more after a while. Best to get it checked out anyways. -Dan
  14. I just read the Autospeed article and why the hell do they compare the XR6t to a WRX? In my opinion thats just stupid. Man do aussies look hard for ego boosts when it comes to their cars. -Dan
  15. Yeah same thing happens to me when i turn my steering wheel full lock both ways when standing still. It just makes the revs go up and down and u need only to tap the accelerator to smooth thing out. Someone told me before that the o2 sensor might be the culprit but i'm not sure. -Dan
  16. Thats a good point, and yeah i know what you mean. Personally i would prefer a nicley tuned GTR that would give me good overall perfromance on the track/strip/street. (pull hard from low in the revs) Looking beyong the engine the 4wd system is a must for larger power outputs, I drive a Gts-t now and the RWD is fun but if i put down more than 300kw at the wheels id rather the GTR anyday. -Dan
  17. yeah i know hehe in the wet good tires and ABS would be a big help. I have neither! Thats why i drive so slow..anything can take me in the wet. On the track ABS would be a minus though but on the road it just peace of mind. R33 has good brakes and it takes a good hammering to get the tires locked up on dry road...better just to give it a good squeez. -Dan
  18. Some intresting points. Agree with the saying that if you burn the candle twice as bright expect it to burn half as long. Sums it up pretty well. Especially since it was said by Mario in regards to his GTR700 (1350bhp) The discussion came about between this mate of mine in regards to reliability of an RB26dett tuned as to match any factory Ferrari or Porsche on the Track and Strip. Then it lead to the extremities and i believe that a ferrari/porsche tuned to 1000hp would be the same story as an RB26dett of the same power output. One wouldn't outlast the other...or am i mistaken? And in the case of owning a reliable 1000hp (or in that HP region GTR) is not a dream. For anyone with a thick wallet, who can afford a $200,000+ car can easily purchase Top Secrets, to name one of many, tuners who sell their project cars at the end of each year..and at a quater of what they cost to build. Even in australia your able to pick up a 1000hp ready motor from Mario for around $50 AUD. If you were so inclined a big HP GTR would be more affordable than most worldclass supercars. -Dan
  19. Thanks Too bad..didn't think it would have been too easy. -Dan
  20. Hey I was just having a friendly argument with a v8 lover recently about the reliability of the street legal GTRs that run 1000hp+ His argument was that these engines wouldn’t last long with that much power and would never be able to do 300km plus for extended periods. The only thing I had to go on as proof was a statement on the yellow GTR Jeremy Clarkson drove. That had 1000hp and he said the owner had the car for 5 years and it never once broke down. Now does anyone have any opinion on this subject, ...is my mate right?! Could you ever register a GTR with 1000hp in Australia, would some states allow it and some not? Cuz I’m saving up for the Top Secret crate rb26dett motor they sell for the R34 GTRs with 900kw for a measly $80,000. heheh (imagine that!) Uhhh yeah! -Dan
  21. Are you with EBM? Cuz i'm with them too..let me know if they treat you well. -Dan
  22. Always sad to hear these things..really glad that everyone is safe. Look on the bright side at least you've got tomorrow to look forward to. -Dan
