He's probably getting confused... RDA make the zinc passivated slotted and dimpled in Australia under license to EBC in the UK. The rotors he's seen are probably just EBC's. There's NO WAY that RDA rotors are exported to the UK. -
Hi Brendan, It really depends on which side of the compromise fence you sit. The A1RM is phenomenally good pad as the guys above have said (and is a Ferodo DS2500 type equivalent pad performance wise), and although it is 100% streetable, it will have slightly higher rotor wear than a normal street pad, which if that's not a drama, then they'll be the best pads you'll ever run on the street. The next pad down, the HPX is a Bendix Ultimate equivalent performance wise, but very low dust and rotor wear, and is generally enough for most people on the street, even with a bit of heavy duty work. The A1RM to suit is $119 per axle set front or rear. The HPX is $79 per axle set front or rear. Shipping is free when you order front and rear pads together, or else $8 per axle set individually. If you wanted to take a bet each way, A1RM front and HPX rear is quite a common combo we sell. Regards, Greg

You're comparing two completely different pads... The Redstuff (or QFM A1RM) are a high performance street and light track cross over pad. Something you can get away with if you're prepared to run slightly higher rotor wear on the street, and slightly less life than a dedicated track pad on the track. Though the A1RM is a decent step above Redstuff, being closer to something like a Ferodo DS2500. The HPX (or EBC Green) are just a high performance street pads, and not something you'd get away with doing track work on. Since asbestos was banned you're not going to get all that, the closest you get will be: HPX - low dust, low fade [on the street], low rotor wear and minimal noise. A1RM - [relatively*] low dust, low fade, [relatively*] low rotor wear and minimal noise. Redstuff - low dust, low fade [on the street, not so flash when pushed on the track], [relatively*]low rotor wear and minimal noise If you don't do any track work, stick to the HPX and spend the extra money on fluid, which is where your first weakness will be. * Relative for the performance, not relative to a normal street pad. -

It might just be standard fluid in that case, which is pretty ordinary performance wise, but it's definitely a fluid inadequacy on some level. Even 'Super Dot 4' (or 5.1 as it's better known) is pretty ordinary and is really only designed for heavy duty application like towing, it's not really performance orientated... The stuff that we use and recommend is the TRW GP600 Dot 4 Racing Brake Fluid, and is $65 for a 1L bottle. Good for 312 degrees dry, or exactly the same as Motul RBF600.

If budget isn't an issue, then go DMS. For the extra few dollars they will be a BIG step up from Tein... Their entry level model 40mm is $2989 per car set including springs, freight and GST. 40mm is a combined bump and rebound adjustable model. The next step up (which is more dedicated track shocks) is the 50mm, and is $3401 per car set including spring freight and GST. 50mm is a separate bump and rebound adjustable shock. The only thing though with the DMS is that with the Skyline you need to use aftermarket strut tops (can't use standard ones) so you need to allow $250 odd per pair for those.

That definitely sounds like a fluid inadequacy though. Doesn't mean the pads/rotors/calipers aren't up to the task, because at the moment the weak link is definitely the fluid...

What's your budget??? Anything less than $2.5k and you're FAR better off going to a quality shock (like Bilstein or Koni) and spring setup than getting cheap coilovers.... To get quality you either need something like Tein as Harry said, of for a bit extra something like a 40mm DMS is light years ahead....

I've won a state rallying title on it, and there's PLENTY of guys running it as a track and daily pad in some quick machinery. Get a grip Chuckie... I wasn't bagging EBC Black, and indeed we're a premium RDA dealer, and do quite a large volume of them... but if you think EBC Black are a performance pad by any stretch of the imagination you're sadly very mistaken. Nothing I said in my post wasn't true, and EBC Black are nothing more than an ordinary street pad. Compare equivalent performance pads to the QFM HPX or A1RM, and then come and tell me they're not good value... ... and if you read the post above yours clearly we're not the only ones who think so.

And there's your problem...... Only people who don't have shocks capable of controlling decent springs will bitch about Kings. Kings are some of the best springs on the planet. There's a reason why they're the largest spring manufacturer in the southern hemisphere, supplier to race teams all over the world including those in Europe where the likes of Eibach or Koni are ALOT closer, and OEM supplier to Australia's two ultra-premium coilover manufacturers that export race and rally suspension to the world (DMS and MCA). Also FWIW I'm pretty sure Whiteline springs were rolled by Lovells...

Qfm Pads No Backing Plate?

I assume you just mean the anti-squeal shim? It can't possibly be the backing plate! That's what the friction material is bonded to, and yes, it will be fine to install the pads without the shim on the previous pads. -

Yep, that number's correct. Our price on the DP1671 is $86. But you're only talking about EBC Black, they're a pretty ordinary street pad at the best of times, and NOTHING in the way of performance. If you're after something that's going to pull the car up a bit better than stock, then we've got both QFM options on the shelf. - High Performance Street, QFM HPX, Bendix Ultimate equivalent, $119 for the set. - Street/Track, QFM A1RM, Ferodo DS2500 equivalent, $179 for the set. In comparison EBC Green are $195, so the QFM are far and away the best value for money S2 pads!

Yep, I'd say that's pretty much on the money. Certainly those that don't use them as a 100% daily pad (including ourselves in the rally car) are going through multiple sets of pads without there being even so much as a lip on the rotor. Unless you're doing track work, as probably Greg (the sales manager) said stick to the HPX, which is still a Bendix Ultimate equivalent in terms of performance, so more than enough for street use, but very low dust and rotor wear. Having said that I personally would still be very happy with getting 20-25 odd thousand k's from a set of rotors being clamped by semi-track pads, but if wasn't your expectation I can understand your disappointment.
