what about the older style engine of the NICs/ECCS redtop engines ..ive seen that the silvertop head is a 6 port and the older redtop head 12port - but it has the throttle butterflies , but with them removed ..it raises the eyebrows to me .. if there is possibly a greater potential for more flow? .. coz now i'm thinking to sell my silvertop long motor and go with a old redtop block and build that bottom end up ... so i can use my original gear in the car .. why not go to town on the rb20 head.. and get rb26 size inlet valves fitted .. thats the only point of weakness that i can understand the rb20 head has ....restrictive inlet....something like 28mm ..compared to 36 or something like ..i forget. i'm also in the process of source parts for my rb20 - rb24 build up for my r31coupe ..only thing i'm looking to do different is the pistons, probably toyota 4agze ones...as i dunno about spending over 2grand on tomei ones and leaving the bore paper thin and having to resleeve it. i see , not good at all m8 ... i was looking to buy the same turbo direct from the states.. but id imagine they the same. as i know that they aint ball bearing type ..although he does advertise otherwise. i was looking to probably buy one via this website - http://www.turbocalculator.com/sale-garrett.php but was looking at getting one with a 0.48 trim. and a 60trim instead. as the toofast2furious was local. . i was thinking it would be faster to recieve etc.. less bs with shipping. Hi all Anyone familar with the T04E 57trims being advertised in FastFours, toofast2furious? what are they like for boost? and are they spool friendly? As i'm looking to upgrade my turbo on my RB20DET For the price that they are at for 850bucks. im kinda thinking it might be better for me to buy one instead of a RB25 turbo (series1) thats 2nd hand.. and could fail with too much boost etc. i'm looking to run about 1bar (14.7psi) a boost at the most .. maybe a bit more on scramble mode ..say about 16 or 18psi. going on the compressor maps vs. airflow of a Rb20 .. it should be pretty well matched.. with a little bit of lag b4 boost comes in. not worried too much about the lag ..as the cars auto and is a little laggy on throttle response. I'm upgrading fuel pump and dump pipe shortly, along with installing Jaycar boost and injector controllers. And i also have GTR injector to go in if need be.. but im not targetting much over 180rwkw. Basically.. i just wanna know what ppl know about these turbos.... i know the say " u get what u pay for" .. but at the same time i'm not looking to see dramatic numbers .... just a useable turbo for a daily driver. i drove about 1400kms the follow 5days after i installed the cooler.... and ..hasnt shown any signs of rust or cracking on the cooler paint. ..... depends if u use a good primer i guess Matt

how do the CATs.. or should i say.. how are the CAT recognised as a Legal device on a car.... example ..if the cop pulls u over and looks at your exhaust. doesnt see a recognisable CAT.... what happens then? bend over? ummm or do i say test my emissions orrificer? i'm running a certified CAT! would sorely love to install one on my car when i fabricate my new system... but more concerned bout the legalities IF any that can and may happen if u get pulled over by the law... yea zactly the same problem i have ..... in due time ..i'll probably get them mirrored in fully mandrel bent sections ..rather than cut and shut jobs ..at least then i could hopefully get it to fit nice and flush and not hit any of the underside of the bonnet. mine i painted with cheap .. well supercheap paint ..few coats of regular primer ..and Matt Black. iwas going to use the same paint i painted my cooler with (that VHT hi temp stuff for headers) but at 30bucks a can .. its not really worth it. its not really lag in some cases.. its throttle response as there is more volume for air to travel to the throttle body. .. lag refers to turbo spool time.. thats what i think anyways Matt

well as u know the car is recognised .. it aint slow and he doesnt drive it slow either..... pretty much a case of the cop knowing he;s rap and just wanted to own him. i'm looking to push my friend to seek legal advice and proceed further with it as the cop is clearly well a knob. rather than just pay everything out .. as he has no insurance ....... as he just sold he;s old car (93supra) and the check cleard the day after the smash ...kinda sucks that way. So as u can imagine he;s pretty down on he;s luck and fairly stressed by the matter. as i said the impact to me tells alot .....the cop didnt even look at my friends car....i mean how subtle can u be when u want to crucify someone? NOT! hopefully my friend does proceed and sort this rightly .. As for the lights.. i could only wish ..coz ppl run them lights EVERY day .. specially at nite .... which to me again says alot for who was in the wrong..... as it happend 10pm at nite ..... but magically 5ppl happend to be watching. Even the Firemen had there own theories on what happend ..so the local cop had a thing for my friend and he;s car mostly coz he;'s driving a GTR with P plates proudly displayed..... (but its a case of damnd if he does and damnd if he doesnt have them stuck up)......

awesome weld job man i just did my install on my coupe .. i'm embarassed at the welds compared your too much boosts work ... the welds penetrated more than i would of really wanted ..but its mostly on the surface..so i might get back into them with the mig and smooth em up .. so they look nicer. Matt

yep thats what i did ..did the entire install myself...cost me 135bucks in material mild steel 2.5inch its pretty easy if u have the tools and a clue.

besides.. i really dont think octane will give u that much more .....specially when ur over 300 .....its still over 300 with or without booster. 300 is ****en massive in anyones language for a car thats regularly driven. and 80% duty is pretty comfortable levels..... good going .. kudos to the tuner thats for sure. i just fitted one to my coupe.. originally it was chrome ..bought from modyourcar.com.au ..... anyways i painted it flat black with some hi temp good quality paint....looks good enough to me see for yourself how it ended up.. since installing it ..i lost 1psi ..but it pulls so much harder and alot for consistantly.. the power comes in alot more linear than it did with the standard one .(where it was sharp and went away when it got warm) plus with places like Newkon.biz in the traders section selling em for 350bucks deliever.. shit ..its a no brainer i reckon.. plus that chitch selling factory 2nds from like 230bucks....... just waiting to see how long it takes for the hybrid copy cats to start selling unbranded "latest" from hybrid ..the tube and fin jobs. Anyways.... my point of the post...... get a hybrid style cooler.... bang for your buck cheers matt

well .. it goes like this turning right out of t intersection ..on a Green light.. as far as my friend can remember.. coming from left thru the lights .. one VP commodore and a lowrider ute (left the scene straight away)... umm ..she cleaned him up ..duno what teh story was.. .. the impact to me tells me that the she ran a red light and was going beyond the speedlimit as the impact turnd the GTR about face back into traffic .... damage was bad enough to put it off the road for 2months while its beeing repaired.. its only been backon the road for about 4weeks since having new N1's fitted. cops turned up ..looked at the crash .....went and found some "5 witnesses" and slapped him with a failure to give way fine of 165bucks ..and was blamed as the prime cause of the crash .. at hte time.. my friend was dazed as the impact of the air bags to the side of the throat ..kinda knocks oneself about..and the taste of the powder was making him ill at the same time. so he didnt really know what to say or do. Car was driven home not long after ..although most of the cooler pipes were crushed lucky to make it as far as it did. thats about all i know for now .... but as u can understand.. i'm not appreciative of assumptions on things ppl know nothing about.

interesting discussion what does the compressor map look like on one of them "GT25 (446179-0031 or 446179-0032) which use the GT35 compressor wheels." sounds bout what i'm aiming for.. Matt

thats gonna be one quick towcar !!! lol inregard to the fuel adjuster... seeing it works with duty cycles (from what i can gather) ... in my case if i retain STD ecu ..but bolt in larger injectors .. is it possible to use this controller for that purpose? rather than over fueling it to hell? or is this fuel adjuster more for fine tuning AFRs? Matt
