  1. AFAIK Consult was introduced in the early 90's (90 - 91 I think), so I guess some early R32's may not have the plug? What year was the R32? I assume you looked in all the normal places, the area under/around the fuse box on the drivers side? I have heard of Consult being used on R32's, the PLMS guys mention that their Consult interface has been tested on a R32 GTS-T.
  2. Yeah, from what I've heard from the guys that run that site, they have a huge list of Nissan recalls that they are still working their way thru the translations for. So expect more to appear in the near future. Last time I checked the Nissan site it had recalls going back to around '96 or so, maybe they're getting spooked about the possibility of claims from overseas as per the problems MMC had in NZ just recently......
  3. Hi all, here is a site where you can look up vehicle recalls for JDM cars, they have translated the recall notices to English: http://dogandlemon.com/dl/?page_name=recall-intro And select the Japanese flag. There are a few recalls on R32 and R34 Skylines: http://dogandlemon.com/recall/model.php?ma...N&model=SKYLINE And Stagea: http://dogandlemon.com/recall/model.php?ma...AN&model=STAGEA
  4. If you are going for a NA, make sure you get a GTS25 and not the GTS, the 25 has the 2.5L RB25DE engine, 147kw/~200hp whereas the GTS has the RB20E with 100kw/~130hp of SOHC 2L power! The GTS is very underpowered for the weight of the car, but the GTS25 is about on par with 6cyl Commodores (~150kw from memory) and is lighter. The R33 GTS4 is essentially a GTS25 with 4wd, but a bit less power at the wheels due to drive train losses.
  5. Sounds like a wiring problem to me. Has it always done this or only just started recently? If recently, have you had any dash wiring done - eg fitted a stereo or alarm? My guess is that the AC unit requires (a tiny bit of!) power when the car is off to maintain the last set point in memory. What could be wrong is that this connection is dodgy/loose so the unit resets every time you switch it off. So check all connections on the back of the AC unit, look for anything loose/missing. When you shut the car off do you also loose what mode the AC was in - ie do you have to reset what vents it is blowing to etc as well?

    the 'plug'

I vaguely recall flicking thru the list of optional bits for the Stagea in FAST and an inverter was one of the options. The outlet I think was shown as somewhere in the centre console. The ouput voltage will be somewhere between 100 - 120V @ 60Hz. A lot of electronic gear will accept 100 - 240V inputs, so if you want to run something in there check the spec label on the device for the allowable input voltage range.
  7. The Autech versions are officially sanctioned by Nissan - Autech is their special vehicles arm, they do all sorts of things from 4 door R33 GTR's to wheelchair lift versions of standard Nissans. The Autech R33 4 door GTR has the pumped front and rear gaurds.
  8. AFAIK - nope! The only GTR's with a sunroof are either aftermarket or GTS-something conversions, and/or Autech conversions by the looks of things!
  9. From what I've seen in the options list in the Nissan FAST program, there are a bazillion different stock head unit variations for the R33's, everything from the basic radio/tape unit (which my 95 S1.5 had) to a full-on TV system with nav etc! The most comman variations seem to be single din radio/tape, same unit + single din CD player and dual din Carrozzeria (or Clarion?) CD/tape/radio units. Very much a 'tick the box' option in Japan I think.
  10. There was am article in this month's NZ Autocar which mentioned that Mitsi Japan recently had a new product presentation to the Mitsi NZ/Au people, and that the EVO 10 was shown. Someone was quoted as saying it is a 'very innovative' design. No pics though.
  11. The www.gtr.org.uk download works, but only if you use something like GetRight, for some reason using normal IE download you get a corrupted 50mb file, but with GetRight you get the whole 150mb or so.
  12. Thanks again for the directions! Unfortunately I'm back home in NZ now, unlikely to be heading up that way again any time soon. But I'll pass that info about the Nagano branch on to the guy I was staying with over there (he teaches English in Ibaraki, near Tamari village).
  13. I think that is the other Skyline museum, AFAIK down south somewhere in the mountains, probably snow closes it for part of the year? No idea what it is called - anyone know what/where this one is? We saw where the museum was, it was partitioned off and empty behind the partitions, our Japanese speaking driver talked to the people who work in the flower shop next to it and they were pretty certain that it closed in January. Yup, definitely a bit wierd as we stopped at the local council building to check the address (despite Dave's directions we drove past it about 3 times!) and they knew what and where it was, they didn't say it was closed. In any case we found a car yard specialising in performance cars on the way back - a few GTR's, some late model RPS13's and heaps of Stageas (one a manual RS4 - they do exist!) so we got our fill of Skylines there instead!
  14. Just got back from a weeks holiday in Japan, catching up with a mate who teaches english in a small town about 100k north of Tokyo. Thanks to the directions supplied by Demon Dave we went looking for the Redpark Skyline museum, which is supposed to be in Mitsukaido. However we when got there we found one very empty ex-museum, according to the people in a shop in the same building the museum closed down in January this year. Which probably explains why the website for Redpark doesn't show an address, and is titled 'Virtual Museum'! Thanks anyway for the directions Dave!
